TNA Impact spoilers from Orlando

by Alan Wojcik

TNA Wrestling Xplosion and Impact matches from Tuesday November 16, 2004 to air on Friday November 19th. Walking to the entry way to the soundstage fans got a glimpse of the six sided cage, could it be used tonight or just be here early for the Turning Point PPV on 12/5. We’ll find out tonight to that and the big question, what will Randy Savage be saying here like the internet sites hyped. The building was filled for the first time for an Impact taping in many, many weeks. Tim Welch rejoined the announcing team this week. Fan sign of the show was “McMahon Fears Abyss’ Balloons.”

Xplosion was filmed 1st again:

(1) NWA World Tag Team champions 3 Live Kru (minus Konnan for some reason) and defeated the Naturals and Alex Shelley.

BG James addressed the Kings of Wrestling saying that their power in TNA would amount to nothing. As the Naturals fought on the floor with BG, Killings hit Shelley with the scissor kick to get the very confusing win.

Mike Tenay and Don West filmed some stuff not heard by the audience. Could have been concerning Turning Point as a fan held up a promo poster behind them.

(2) Chris “the Future” Sabin defeated Kid Romeo.

Sabin showed the fans and current X division champion Petey Williams why he deserves the number 1 contenders spot as he defeated Romeo with the dreaded “Cradle Shock.”

Tenay and West filmed another item not heard by the audience.

(3) “Alpha Male” Monty Brown defeated Chasyn Rance.

Brown grabbed the house mic, looked at Rance and said he was glad he was glad he was no longer constipated. He then called Abyss out for the 12/5 PPV in a “Serengeti Survival” match. Real great to see a local wrestler on Xplosion, bad part was he got the living crap kicked out of him and then he got POUNCED. After the match was over Rance was powerbombed by Brown.

Between the shows Titus (former red shirt security member Ryan Wilson) defeated Dallas. This was a good big man style match that at one point saw Dallas hit a top rope moonsault (I am not kidding the 6 foot 8 guy flew.) In the end Titus got the win with a F5.

TNA Impact matches:

The show was opened with video of the Kings of Wrestling beating down Amazing Red (who was lawn darted like Rey Mysterio back in ’96), D-Ray 3000, Shark Boy. They then broke the backstage board listing the show on Red’s head saying “the card is subject to change.” The pre-show video recapped the mischievous week “the Kings of Wrestling” had in TNA. Instead of t-shirts Jeremy Borash gave out Turning Point posters

(1) NWA World Heavyweight champion Jeff Jarrett (w/Nash and Hall who sat with Tenay and West) defeated J-Rocc.

Like his many appearances on Impact, the champ attacked his opponent before he got to the ring. Once in the ring it was the usual but kicking that ended with the Stroke. As the Kings left ringside, another limo arrived at the Impact Zone. During the commercial Jarrett said to the crowd they were taking over Impact. Jarrett next berated the Hardy Marks section telling them Hardy wouldn’t be on the show as long as he was in charge.

Back from commercial Shane Douglas interviewed XXX (who were inside the Six Sided cage) about their PPV match with America’s Most Wanted. XXX called out AMW to meet them in the cage right now.

(2) America’s Most Wanted fought the New York Connection (w/Trinity) to a no contest.

Jarrett kept walking around ringside as Hall and Nash stayed with Tenay and West. This was almost a repeat of the match these two teams had on Xplosion last week except for the fact AMW jumped Jarrett. This prompted Hall and Nash to leave the announce table to jump AMW and all of them headed out of the building where XXX was waiting inside the cage. XXX beat up AMW as Shane Douglas spoke to the Kings about something the audience could not hear.

Back from commercial Jarrett was in the control truck talking to people but no one heard a thing. A video of Chris Sabin came on hyping his 12/5 match with Petey Williams.

(3) Team Canada members Bobby Roode and X Division champion Petey Williams (w/Scott D’amore) defeated Jerrelle Clark and Mikey Batts (wearing matching tights)

D’amore took cheap shots on Clark as he lay on the floor while Roode/Williams beat up Batts in the ring. Batts survived the attack and tagged in Clark but he didn’t survive the Canadian Destroyer. As Williams covered Clark, Chris Sabin ran down. He attacked Williams and countered the Destroyer once more and hit the Cradle Shock before Roode and D’amore could catch him.

They showed footage of the limo backing up and the Kings of Wrestling leaving the control truck going somewhere. Back from commercial they showed last week’s arrival of Diamond Dallas Page.

(4) Johnny B. Badd defeated Raven (wearing some sort of gladiator helmet.)

I think I saw this match in WCW many years ago but I might be mistaken. Raven hit Badd with a superkick but Badd fell into Rudy Charles. As Charles recovered DDP came out of the crowd, hit the Diamond Cutter and placed Badd on top of Raven for the victory.

Back from commercial Shane Douglas confronted DDP about why he has been tormenting Raven. DDP claimed Raven “has been in his mind for 2 ½ years and the rent was due.”

(5)Abyss defeated Kevin Devine who was hit with the Black Hole Slam and then a POUNCE before being pinned. During the match the fans chanted “we like balloons.” Abyss got the black bag with the thumb tacks. But before he could power bomb Devine into them Monty Brown came out and attacked Abyss with a steel chair.

Before commercial, Shane Douglas asked Raven what was going on between him and DDP. Raven said the real heat should be between DDP and Erik Watts not him and Raven. He then did the usual poetry welcoming DDP to the Terrordome. Back from commercial a video played asking the fans to log onto the TNA website about the footage shot at the WWE Royal Rumble commercial shoot. New DOA Dusty Rhodes came out to speak to the fans about the footage and then addressed the Turning Point PPV. He said the team that loses the Six Sided cage match must split up forever. Next he addressed the Kings of Wrestling and told them someone (Randy Savage) would be here for them before the night was over. A video on the brewing Sonjay Dutt/Kid Kash feud played.

(6) Kid Kash, Michael Shane and Frankie Kazarian (w/Traci Brooks who was sporting a lea and carrying a coconut) defeated Sonjay Dutt, Sonny Siaki and Hector Garza.

The last commercial break was taken during this match as Kash hit Siaki with the coconut for the win. But Mike Posey saw the coconut in the ring and restarted the bout. Kash got the coconut again and hit Siaki once more for the win. Shark Boy came out to tell Posy about the coconut but Posey wouldn’t hear any of it as the losers attacked the winners. From nowhere the Kings of Wrestling hit Shark Boy, Garza and Dutt with their finishers. But as they posed for the TV cameras, AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy hit the ! ring with Randy Savage!! Savage (who kept his coat on again) punched out Jarrett and called the threesome out for a match at the PPV as the show wrapped up. After the cameras stopped the Kings got chairs from the crowd and stood on the rampway taunting Savage, Hardy and Styles. Jarrett got the house mic to accept the challenge laid out by Savage. Borash told the fans big shock Turning Point would be in Orlando

The good:
DDP vs. Raven
Savage is back
Orlando once again holding the PPV

The bad:
Six man tag instead of Monty Brown vs Jarrett
I am close to Orlando and glad to go and support TNA but they need to broaden their event venues at least rotate between Nashville and Orlando. I know the Fairgrounds in Nashville is not as big as Universal soundstage. But they can probably hold it at the Auditorium since so many people flew in around the world to see Victory Road.

I agree with all your goods and bads, especially the one about how Turning Point should have been in Nashville. And I'll agree that Savage being back is good, but not because I think he's a great worker, but because TNA won't have to abandon their plans.

They really need to cut it back to one squash match a week if that. The main event sounds pretty good and I'll be interesting in seeing how Johnny B. Badd looks when he has to do more than a hip toss and TKO.

Ten thousand gold doubloons say Savage bails on TNA again, probably right before the next PPV.

As long as the Kings of Wrestling angle comes down to Hall and Nash doing some J-O-Bs to Monty, Styles et al, I've got no problem with it. Probably not gonna happen though.

The KOW angle already sounds like yet another tired old rehash of the NWO.

Six matches is a bit much, but there seem to be some interesting developments there.
