It's being reported that the Bears are trying to lure him out of retirement to finish the season for them. Was Krenzel really doing so horribly that they have to get a guy who hasn't played since 2001?

Krenzel is out for a month. Chad Hutchinson is now the starter.

Ah I got it confused with Henson's yanking during that mess on Thursday.

Would you want to go play QB for Chicago?

Hell no, they suck away whatever talent a QB has.

The Bears have overtaken the Bengals run of shitty QB's.

No, the Bengals at least had Jeff Blake go to a couple of pro bowls while on the team.

Chicago is much worse considering Jim McMahon was the last passable QB that they had.

What about Tim Couch? Did he just give up on football and balloon up to 400 lbs or something? He sucks, but I'm sure he's better than a retired Jeff George.

I think the fact he couldn't make it as a 3rd stringer on the packers indicates he was done for.

He really didn't have any business even trying to make the team. Neither did Doug Pederson, for that matter.

Playing QB for Chicago may as well be a direct line to the hospital at this rate

That and the pesky shoulder surgery he had.
His arm is not ready for the NFL yet.

At this point, I have a stronger arm than Tim Couch. A QB who is a former no. 1 pick so will bring some baggage (money, playing time) along with chronic arm problems would not be high on my list.

I think it shows how rock bottom a franchise has gotten when I read the words "they want to sign Jeff George."

Or "Bears trying to lure Ryan Leaf out of retirement."

Now that'd be a hell of a comeback story. Then I can finally say I WAS RIGHT! to all the people who said Peyton would be better than Leaf..

Well, before last year, they'd won the same number of playoff games...

Bring back Cade McNown (my Vitamin X's Ryan Leaf pick)

And of course Len Pasquarelli is the one to get the story up on ESPN.com.

Ryan would have been great if he got over that whole sucking at talking to reporters and not wanting to kill coaches for telling him to stop getting picked off.

If Leaf could have just got over that and his apparent short term memory that seemed to make him forget who he played for then he would have been great.

I'm still waiting for Akili Smith to develop.

If he can get a few weeks off from the Home Depot he is working at then maybe Chicago has a quarterback.
What about Jim Drunkenmiller?

They ran a feature on him on ESPN a few weeks ago and he's headed to Europe.

The fact nearly all Bears QB's are injured speaks VOLUMES of their O-Line.

I wouldn't jump on them for Grossman's injury. He did that diving into the endzone, not on a sack. Now I don't watch them, so the O-Line might be that bad. But I would not jump on them for that.

Is Quinn injured or are they just never letting him near the field again?

He was actually my pick to be the best out of the bunch of 1999 as well. I hated to see him go to the Bears after playing for my beloved Bruins. McNown was fucking awesome in college. He was like Steve Young and Brett Favre rolled into one. Then he had the bad luck to end up being a Bears QB. It's too bad he couldn't have ended up with say, the Giants or the Seahawks or some other team I don't care about.

Same here. I saw Smith as a more mobile Jeff Blake. Actually I thought Smith would end up being exactly the same QB that Daunte Culpepper turned out to be. It's too bad he got stuck in the Bengals QB Carousel.

Maybe they can get Vince Evans to come out of retirement if George says no.
