Cleveland traded Jiri Welsch to Milwaukee for a future second-round pick.

Phoenix traded Quentin Richardson, the draft rights to Nate Robinson, and future considerations to New York for Kurt Thomas and the draft rights to Dijon Thompson.

Phoenix traded Jake Voskuhl to Charlotte for a conditional 2007 second-round pick.

Charlotte traded Jason Hart to Sacramento for a 2006 or 2007 second-round pick.

Washington re-signed Kwame Brown and Laron Profit to three-year contracts and traded them to LA Lakers for Caron Butler and Chucky Atkins.

Boston re-signed Antoine Walker to a six-year contract and traded him to Miami as part of a five-team trade: Miami received Walker from Boston, Jason Williams, James Posey, and Andre Emmett from Memphis, and Roberto Duenas from New Orleans. Boston received Qyntel Woods, Albert Miralles, two second-round picks, and a $1.9 million trade exception from Miami and Curtis Borchardt from Memphis. Philadelphia traded Marc Jackson and cash considerations to New Jersey for future draft considerations.

LA Clippers re-signed Marko Jaric and traded him along with Lionel Chalmers to Minnesota for Sam Cassell and a conditional first-round pick.

Phoenix signed Joe Johnson to a five-year contract and traded him to Atlanta for Boris Diaw, two lottery-protected first-round picks, and the Hawks' trade exception.

As a Pacer Fan, these are the guys I want to be considered.

Kareem Rush
This guy I think will try to go away from LA fast, and with Reggie gone and Jacskon really eing a 3, our back court needs some work. I think he has potential

Dajuan Wagner
Same deal as Rush, I think Wagner has been overlooked most places he has went. Him or Rush I think would fit very well in Indiana

Dan Dickau
This guy finally proved lats year that if given the chance, he can perform. In Indiana, he would be given a chance

Shareef Abdur-Rahim
I guy who would loik great off teh bench. Very versitile and can score at mutiple position and roles

Ray Allen
We need a star in the back court, and Allen can be that guy. Give him anything we can. Tinsley and Jackson or even a Rush/Wagner is not good enough. Allen, a star, is needed in Indiana

Danny Fortson
With Foster and Oneal as potental starters, I believe Davis might move on. I guy like is Forston, and he would fit the division well. He can rebound like a mother, so that always a plus.

Interesting, there anren't any absolute superstars that are free agents apart from Allen. I expect Dickau and Korver to get some good money, wheterh they stay or go. I think Michael Redd will stay with the Bucks if he can, as they will probably draft Andrew Bogut, and that could be a good combo. I, too am a Pacers fan, although I don't think Shareef would fit in unless he came off of the bench, but I doubt he'd be up for that. I think Indiana will possibly let Artest play the first 20 games or so, and see if he can put up the numbers he was before Detroit, and then trade him for an Antwan Jamison or (wishful thinking) Shawn Marion (which would kick all kinds of ass, IMO).

Ehh, not a lot for the Rockets. They'll probably find a way to get out of Baker's player option, let Padgett exercise his, resign Barry and Bowen at moderate prices, and see if Deke will sign with us even though someone somewhere will probably offer him a starting job even though he's now good for 5-7 minute stretches, not for 35 minutes a night.

Other than that, the Rocks are capped out with only the Middle Class Exception to offer. That's not going to be enough to get what they need (a banger of a 4), although they'll probably make a run at a backup SF to spell T-Mac every now and again. The PF will have to wait until the draft when someone (Turiaf, Simien, May, even the HSer Blatche) will hopefully be available.

I am wondering if someone goes insane looking for a big and throws a big contract to Dalembert. We have seen a precedent set with Blount and Foyle last year that teams panic. With the market for big men and the terrific performance he had in the playoffs (I believe he was pulling down 12-13 boards a game) it would surprise, but not shock me to see someone throw 50-60 million at him.

Jackson says he's talking to Lakers, but no decision yet

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) -- Phil Jackson expects to decide in ``another day or two'' whether he will return to coaching the Los Angeles Lakers or some other NBA team next season.

Jackson said Thursday night that he's talking to some teams about their vacancies, but giving first priority to the Lakers.

``There's been some talking going on, but nothing has been determined,'' he said from El Segundo on ABC's pregame NBA Finals show. ``We're kind of narrowing it down now and I know these teams have to have an answer.''

Jackson had a self-imposed mid-June deadline for reaching a decision about his coaching future. He took this season off after Lakers owner Jerry Buss didn't offer him a new contract last year.

``This is the biggest pregnant pause in history, waiting for me to make a decision about this,'' he said, adding it could come ``in another day or two.''

Jackson, who will turn 60 before the start of next season, has had health issues in the past. He told ABC that he's undergone four series of tests to make sure a possible return wouldn't be interrupted.

Jackson's successor, Rudy Tomjanovich, left the Lakers in February because of health issues and was replaced by interim coach Frank Hamblen.

Asked what would keep him from returning to the Lakers, Jackson said, ``The biggest thing with that would be situations that don't work well, roster situations that are capable of change, personnel situations that are capable of change.''

Jackson and Kobe Bryant had a well-documented up-and-down relationship during their five years together, and Jackson outlined the difficulties in a book he wrote that came out last October.

Jackson has nine championship rings as a head coach, six in Chicago and three in Los Angeles. He's tied with former Boston coach Red Auerbach for most NBA titles.

The Lakers had a 34-48 record this season and missed the playoffs for the first time in 11 years.

The interview was arranged by Jackson's agent Todd Musburger, whose brother Brent is an ABC sportscaster.

If I were the Bulls I would try to pick up Toni Kukoc to have limited minutes coming off of the bench. Also, they need to find out for sure what the condition of Eddy Curry is. Maybe they can steal Z from Cleveland so they can have a more dominate center. The health concerns of both men cancel each other out.

• The most interesting draft rumor flying around this weekend had the Blazers and Celtics talking about a deal that would send Paul Pierce to Portland for the No. 3 pick in the draft and Nick Van Exel.

On Tuesday, Celtics director of basketball operations Danny Ainge shot that rumor down, telling Insider it was "ludicrous." Ainge said he had no intention of trading Pierce, especially for a draft pick.

Still, it's an interesting idea.

Van Exel has a team option on his contract this year. That means the Celtics could trade for his $12.7 million contract, and essentially waive him without owing him a penny. In other words, the Celtics would get the draft pick and cut their cap by more than $13 million (Pierce makes a little more than Van Exel).

It's obvious why the Blazers would do it. Adding an All-Star like Pierce at the two would be a major upgrade. If Portland could find a veteran point guard in free agency to back up Sebastian Telfair, it could be back in the playoff mix next year.

The Celtics also have motivation to do a deal like this. Pierce is unhappy. The Celtics don't sound like they're bringing back Antoine Walker and Gary Payton (both are free agents) next season, which is only going to make matters worse with Pierce.

By not re-signing Walker and Payton and by trading Pierce, the Celtics could accomplish a couple of things.

First, by making the move, Boston would be around $10 million under the cap going into the summer. That would allow Ainge to be aggressive on the free agent market. The Celtics would love to have a long, athletic shot blocker like Samuel Dalembert, Tyson Chandler or Stromile Swift. They would have enough cash to be a contender for one of these players by trading Pierce.

Second, the Celtics would be in a position to draft a potential superstar such as North Carolina swingman Marvin Williams or Wake Forest point guard Chris Paul. One of these two should be on the board at No. 3. They'd also retain their No. 18 pick in the draft.

While making these moves would likely mean the Celtics slip a little in the standings next year, Ainge would be putting together a pretty awesome long-term foundation for the Green. Both Paul and Williams have the potential to be superstars. Al Jefferson looks like he could be an All-Star someday. Delonte West and Tony Allen also appear to have bright NBA futures.

The downside of the deal is just as troubling. Ainge would be trading a proven star and scorer for potential and cap room. Given how lopsided the trades of Shaquille O'Neal, Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady have looked in hindsight, you can understand the hesitation.

There's about a 99% chance that Barnes will return to Sacramento; he's a good hustle player to come off the bench, he's got good basketball instincts, can handle the ball well, and already knows the Kings system. Plus, he really, really wants to come back to the Kings, and he's a big crowd favorite. And, seeing as how Philadelphia sat him on the IL for the whole time he's been there, I can't imagine that they'd be willing to match whatever the Kings offer him.

I'm still pissed at Petrie for trading Webber for a ham sandwich; Hell, this is the same guy who fleeced Washington to get Webber in the first place, and traded Jason Williams to Vancouver for Bibby... If he's half the GM that he has the reputation of having, he should have at least gotten one of Philly's three young players (Iguodala, Korver or Dalembert) in that trade... As far as our offseason, I'm praying that we get rid of Stojakovic; I can't stand that guy! I'm hoping that his ability to shoot will let us trick somebody into signing him, though. Since there are plenty of decent FA small forwards available, too, I'm thinking that the best-case scenario would be if we could trade Stojakovic and Kenny Thomas to Milwaukee for Desmond Mason and Joe Smith; if Michael Redd bolts for Cleveland, as many people seem to believe, Milwaukee might be willing to do that trade, since Stojakovic would be able to replace Redd (and Milwaukee runs a similar offense to Sacramento), and Kenny Thomas is good enough to start at PF in the east.

No offense, but that team would be awful, especially in the West. They can do a lot better than subtracting Mobley, Peja and Thomas in favor of Mason, ~NAILON (quite possibly the most one dimensional player in the league), and f'n Joe Smith.

As a Kings fan, I'm for dropping Peja as well. I think he's run his course here in Sac. If the Lakers were to offer Odom (as was rumored around the trade deadline) I'd do it now, even with Odom having 2 drug strikes. Hell, I'd even consider Butler and another player for Peja. This is all moot because the Kings and Lakers aren't going to ever pull trades with each other.

I wouldn't give up on Mobley just yet, but I wouldn't break the bank on him either. The idea of getting a guy like Desmond Mason is one I like. I also hope Matt Barnes does come back. He's a playmaker who is long, and does the little things to make an impact.

The Kings are ok in that they have and All Star caliber point guard (Bibby) and Center (Miller). However, those 2 players are not athletic, which are their weaknesses. I'd fill positions 2, 3, and 4 with athleticism.(this is where a guy like Mason and to an extent, Mobley make a difference) Small forwards and Shooting guards are easier to come by than the other positions. I'd also let Bobby Jackson go as well. He's a bit old now, injury prone, and not worth the risk. Then again, all this talk may go by the wayside if they lockout.

First of all, Nailon isn't the most one-dimensional player in the league; we already have the most one-dimensional player in the league starting at SF. Unfortunately, we're about a year late on the "trade Stojakovic" bus; last year, we probably could have gotten Marion for him, since I understand that they were considering trying to move him to make room for Richardson (go figure), or possibly even have traded him for V. Carter. At this point, he's been totally exposed for the overrated player he is (all the people who continue to think, incorrectly, that Webber underperforming in the playoffs is why the Kings never went anywhere have clearly never seen Stojakovic in the playoffs before), and I doubt that we could get a good player for him. Nailon isn't great, but he's good enough, and on a team where he's not the #1 option (where, unlike most of last season in New Orleans, he wouldn't be), he can definitely be a solid starter

Joe Smith isn't a star, either, but he's good for 10/8 and, unlike Kenny Thomas, is actually big enough to bother PF's in the west. See, Kenny Thomas is a good enough scorer, and he hustles on defense, but being closer to 6'6" than his advertised 6'9", he just can't get it done against the trees in the west.

Dangerous A, I don't seen Mobley coming back; not only does he not really fit our offense (he's more of a fastbreak player than a halfcourt one), but I think the reason he opted out of his last year is because he wants more money than Sacramento is likely to pay him.

I'd really like to see the Kings package Peja and whoever else (Bibby and Miller are the only untradeables IMO) to Boston for Paul Pierce. I figure with Bibby and Pierce in the backcourt along with Miller in the middle, we can find some good work around pieces and make a decent run.

I also agree that it seems Peja's time in Sacramento is done, I'd love to see him end up Chicago somehow. I scanned over the Bulls roster while thinking of any sort of deal, but I don't see one that would be able to be done with Sacramento. But his shooting I think would be a good fit with the Bulls, who need help scoring wise. And didn't Peja say he would enjoy playing in Chicago last year or something?
