Yahoo Fantasy question..

Recommended Posts

Ok, here's the skinny:

- 14 team, Head-to-Head Yahoo Hockey League

- I'm currently in 4th place

- It's a tight race with only 2 weeks left in the regular season and then, playoffs..

Here's my players:

C Mike Ribeiro (DAL)

C Mike Comrie (NYI)

LW Alexander Ovechkin (WSH)

LW Erik Cole (CAR)

RW Markus Naslund (VAN)

RW Marek Svatos (COL)

D Nicklas Lidstrom (DET)

D Andrei Markov (MTL)

D Paul Martin (NJ)

D Bryan McCabe (TOR)

Bench

RW Mikael Samuelsson (DET)

C Victor Kozlov (WSH)

IR Rob Blake (LA)

Here's my goaltenders:

G Cam Ward (CAR)

G Carey Price (MTL)

G Mathieu Garon (EDM)

G Marc-Andre Fleury (PIT)

Anyway, here's the deal. I was purposed a trade today by one of the other GM's and it has me wondering.

He offered me two separate deals, but basically the same end result..

TRADE 1

RW Teemu Selanne (ANA)

-for-

G Carey Price (MTL)

TRADE 2

RW Teemu Selanne (ANA)

-for-

G Cam Ward (CAR)

Both guys are great goalies and Price's added value over the last day is intriguing, especially to a Habs fan like myself.

However, Cam Ward is playing well lately and sparks a 27-20-4 record, with some pretty good-looking numbers.

But, Teemu Selanne is getting back to old form (10 games - 6g,5a), including a 3g,2a outting the other night against Chicago.

So..what would you do?

(and please, this is an honest, legitimate question. Keep the sarcastic, predictable dribble trying to be a clever dick to a minimum)

I'd pass on both deals. The key is that no one knows how much playing time Fleury is going to get down the stretch. Right now, Conklin is playing way over his head, and I don't see Fleury getting in more than half his team's remaining games, if that many. All that to say that you really can't afford to give up a goalie off your roster.

I understand what you're saying, but I do have 4 goalies. Well 3, if you don't wanna count Fleury.

So I figure I may have enough with Price/Ward, Garon and a possible Fleury start every now and then (depending).

But the question remains, and do I have enough up front without Selanne?

I'm thinking he'd be a great addition, but at the same time I don't wanna leave my goalies short.

Garon is another platoon guy (although he's playing better than Roloson), so that would concern me a little as well. I do agree that Selanne could be a big help, because he's fresh and should sustain this run for another couple of weeks, anyway.

If you have to give up one goalie, I think it should be Ward, because Price will win more.

Mathieu Garon is Edmonton's #1 guy, I'm pretty sure MacTavish even came out and said that he was the go-to guy a few weeks back.

Roloson hasn't played very much at all, maybe twice in the last month and I don't even know if he won.

But that's my main concern, the Oilers don't win all that much..

Ward for Selanne is the way I'm leaning, but I'm still not 100% sure.

Oh! and I just received another trade offer:

Mike Ribeiro (26g,47a) and Carey Price (13W, 2.76GAA, .911SV%)

-for-

Evgeni Malkin (36g,48a) and Peter Budaj (15W, 2.62GAA, .902SV%)

*If I wanna be greedy, I can let go of my two goalies, Ward and Price, along with my top centre in Mike Ribeiro in return for Evgeni Malkin, Teemu Selanne and Peter Budaj....Hmmmmm...

Id make the deal if you think you need the offensive punch. Id keep Price over Ward, however. Fluery, Price and Garon is fine going into the stretch run. But you have to question, is the RW you drop and the LW you pick up (I imagine you will pick up a LW, thats what logic says) a big gap in talent? Cuz if there is not a LW thats close to the RW you drop, then say no to the deal.
