WrestleWar '90

Watching this is a nice stroll down memory lane.

Jim Ross and Terry Funk, however, make for an interesting announcing combination. It gets pretty awkward at times.

Terry Funk was awesome on the mic with Cruise. He was very convincing. His voice just had an unique, comfortable, inviting feel to it which would draw you into what he was saying.

Lex Luger vs Flair is an awesome match if I remember correctly. Luger was awesome back in 89/90 when he was a working machine.

Yeah I always enjoy seeing some old school WCW PPVs. There were perhaps too many tag matches on this show though, with only 2 singles matches on the entire card (main event and Cactus Jack MANSON vs. Norman the Lunatic).

The main event was booked about as perfect as it could have been. Since the long term feud was Sting vs. Flair they couldn't put the belt on Luger there, but it certainly kept Luger strong and the finish gave his character an added dimension. Is it just me or do people give Luger almost too much crap? He was never really the same after the motorcycle wreck that gave him the steel plate of doom, but from 1987 to 1991 he was an excellent power worker.

Plan to watch it soon. I look forward to seeing this show.

Scott Keith brought up a great point...if Tully hadn't tested positive for drugs, we probably would have gotten Arn and Tully vs The Steiners. Imagine THAT dream match.

I watched the show and thought it was pretty solid. They went too heavy with the tag matches though as someone mentioned earlier. Luger vs. Flair was great and had a lot of emotion with amazing heat from the crowd. JR made it even more exciting with his screaming and excitement everytime Luger made a comeback. I thought Terry Funk was solid as well.

Even though it had a lot of tag-matches, it's always a plus to get a Rock and Roll Express/Midnight Express match.

I got around to watching this before it expired, it was a fun show. Flair knew how to work with Luger (and dig those pink and neon green tights they were wearing) and Luger's power moves worked well here.

Was Rick Steiner still in his semi-retarded gimmick at this point? It was really weird seeing him talk like a moron in his promo with a piece of paper saying "STING'S REVENGE" pinned to him, then have Jim Ross mention on commentary Rick was almost a science teacher.

In defense of the "too many tag matches" argument, if I remember correctly, the original card for this featured 3, not 2, singles matches - Jack vs. Norman, Luger defending the US title vs. Dr. Death, and Flair vs. Sting for the World belt. That's still not enough singles matches, but I'm wagering that possibly the opening tag match wouldn't have been there had plans not been forced to change . . .
