TSM Rankings

Recommended Posts

Keep it limited to a panel.

I personally know hardly anything about MMA. I mean I watch it on Spike sometimes, but I certainly don't know which fighters are better than which other fighters, etc., etc.

However, if I happened into a thread with an open poll, I'd probably feel compelled to vote. If you're going to have a legitimate ranking system, keep it to people that have at least some idea what they're talking about.

How about I continue transporting UFC rankings here?

Oh, come on. You guys wouldn't know a decent featherweight if he rolling kneebarred you!

*boos grow*

I don't know whether or not to do it on a panel but if there is a panel, i'd like to be on it, always watch me some MMA when available or on PPV and can rank all weight classes LW and above.

How about a subcommitee with recommendations and a preliminary report before a finalized, larger vote.

I was also thinking about a weighed ranking. Where there the vote of, say, Lei Tong, would be held higher in certain areas like the featherweights (there's a featherweight division now?) than, say, the rest of us. I was thinking of something like 3 different levels, expert, intermediate, notice. Where the expert vote would be multiplied by 2, the intermediates would be by 2, and the novices would be by one. That way people who are new to the game can still have a say, while the people who are more familiar can be properly represented.

LT is probably the most knowledgable person here on the subject of knowledge, since he knows so damn much. I know like three featherweights; Melendez, Menjivar, and Kid. Kid probably shouldn't count since he fights as a LW anyway.

I would not vote on anything below WW, since I don't have enough knowledge to judge those ones. Also, what's the standard for LW? If it's 155, than guys like Gomi wouldn't count and stuff, because he fights at 160. But then if you make it 60, all the guys who are successful at 160 cut a huge amount of weight and dwarf guys that fight at 155, like Gomi against Kawajiri, or Sakurai against Pulver.

Eh, I'd say 160 is a fair cut off for LW's, size advantages notwithstanding. Otherwise, you end up cuttig out half of the LW division rankings (PRIDE's guys), and you certainly can't rank them as WW's.

We should bump this up and try to get a January one done, I figure it will be right after the NYE show, and before the next UFC. A lot of questions will be answered on that show, about the MW and LW divisions mainly. How about a deadline for January 7 (this can change)? Someone tallies it and those can be our rankings for the month. Thing is, we should decide if you want a small group of people doing it or if you want to include everyone.

Don't worry, if it's a select group of people, it won't escalate to whatever the hell goes on in Puro folders that people complain about so often.

If you guys wanna put some rankings together, I wouldn't mind looking at them. It's just so hard to put together any one undebatable listing with both Pride and UFC fighters ranked together
