Why wasn't Barry Windham at Survivor Series 1989? I know he was booked on Macho Man's team but instead they had Earthquake take his place. Was this just a case of wanting to get Earthquake on the card to begin his push or was there a reason real life reason Windham wasn't there?

Windham jumped back to the NWA.

His dad and brother were going to jail for money counter fitting. Barry asked to be released to keep wwf out of trouble.

Yeah, I remember seeing an interview where Sting said he had everyone around him telling him to join WWE (after WCW died) and he had a couple of meetings with Vince but the dealbreaker was watching guys like Booker and DDP getting buried at that time. He said he knew that Vince was lying to him and would have done him the same way. I agree with him. There's certainly no way they would have let him go over Undertaker at Mania.

Ok DDP was definately buried, but I wouldn't say Booker T. was. He came in as the top WCW guy & hung around for awhile. Eventually he was put into some shitty feuds, but he went back to championship status & considering his ability to draw, i think he was given plenty of chances. You can only do so much with "Can you dig it sucka!!!!!!!"

Angle was on Stern the other day & again he said he left WWE cuz Vince wouldn't give him time off to heal or deal with shit, but didn't Angle start with TNA immediately after leaving WWE?

I agree. I think Booker was given a great push, but in the interview I saw Sting specifically cited him as someone that wasn't "being given a chance to succeed" or somesuch. The interview must have been done during the middle of the invasion angle because once that was over Booker had a great upper-midcard push whereas most of the original WCW guys that came straight in were long gone.

Booker was somewhat buried when he came into WWE. He had a great debut but then they jobbed him to every main event player during his first few months (Taker, Rock, Austin) and eventually became nothing more than a midcarder by 2002. It took him years to regain his momentum.

I still say if he would've won the Mania match against HHH, he would've been a made man.

Does anyone remember if they had any major plans for the Widowmaker gimmick? I remember he cut a promo once and talked about how he was going to be gunning for Hogan's belt in the near future. This would lead one to think he was in line for a big push, which obviously never materialized. Anyone know for sure?

So I just watched a promo to build to the Orton-Edge Vengence IC match, and Edge something about going through evolution one by one. Was that the original booking plan until Toronto turned on him, and he became a whining heel?

Yeah. The original plan for Edge when he came back in 2004 was to eventually go head-to-head with Triple H in a feud that, I presume, HHH would have come out on top in. I say that mainly because I never heard of any plans for Edge to actually beat HHH, just feud with him.
Sting never once came close to going to the WWF while WCW was still around. But he admitted that he was very, very close to going a few times after WCW died.

I'm assuming following Vengeance, Edge was to defeat Batista and Flair in matches before finally Triple H for the title. IIRC they actually had plans of Triple H Vs. Edge at Bad Blood 2004. One of the reasons Edge was drafted to RAW was because HHH wanted to work with / (bury him.

In fact, he was so close to going in 2003, Vince told the creative team to start coming up with ideas for a HHH/Sting feud. But he backed out and they went after Goldberg instead. He also said that before he agreed to go to TNA full-time, Vince was practically begging him to come in and face The Undertaker at WM22. Sting ultimately declined and he ended up facing Mark Henry in a shitty casket match.

He said all the times he's talked to Vince, Vince has always been really nice to him.

IIRC, Sting was THIS close to working WM 18, but The Rock calling Booker T a nobody on TV killed Sting's interest.

I highly doubt Vince would've offered Sting a victory over Taker at Mania.

Was Rockin' Robin supposed to open WrestleMania V all along or was there a cancellation at the last minute?

Okay, so maybe my knowledge of American history isn't as great as I thought it was, but was there some sort of issue between the U.S. and Japan that led to Vince captializing on it by pushing Yokozuna? There's gotta be a reason why Vince had the guy be Japanese instead of Samoan, right?

I doubt it. Yokozuna was actually listed as being from Polynesia.

I believe she was always scheduled. I recall on a edition of Superstars when they had the WM5 report, they did announce Rockin Robin would be singing America the Beautiful. I always fund it amusing when Jesse totally ripped on her performace right after she was done

Does anyone know the real reason Tugboat was replaced by the Big Boss Man to be in Hogans corner at SS 90? There must have been some behind the scenes reason b/c it wouldn't have made sense for them to build up his apperance the whole summer and then a week before the show just take him off

Here's an old one........

During the in-ring intros of the WWWF Championship match between then-champion, Ivan Kolloff vs. Pedro Morales, Morales was introduced as the "U.S. American Champion". He had the title around his waist for the intro, so he was definately the reigning champ. But, what was the whole story concerning that title? Was it a WWWF-sanctioned title, or was it an NWA-sanctioned title?

This question comes from the first listed match of the WWE Championship history DVD from a few years ago.

An online recap a few years back referenced a list Dave Meltzer made of the inaccuracies in Hulk Hogan's first autobiography (the WWE-produced one). Is this list online?
