TWF Road To Supercard

Recommended Posts

First of all, I’d like to apologise for this.. I’ve had to very, very quickly write it up as I want to devote my full attention to the TSM Fantasy Game I’m about to run.

I’ve written my storylines in a ‘recap’ write-up, not unlike a ‘Raw Recap’ on wwe.com. They all lead up towards the super card at the Kiel Auditorium.

The Texas Wrestling Federation is a family run promotion, ran by the Guerrero family, featuring the Guerrero family wrestling as their top stars. Sort of how the Von Erichs and the Harts all wrestled in their home town, the Guerrero family are all top babyfaces, and the crowd is a traditional old school fan base, solidly behind the local wrestlers. The father of Gory Guerrero passed away, and after a few weeks without a show, the TWF returns under the leadership of Gory.

Week One

Location: Dallas Sportatorium.

TV Tapings

Gory Guerrero opens the show. He comes out and thanks all of the loyal fans in Texas for sticking with the Guerrero family in light of the recent tragic events. He says although his father meant so much to this company, he is proud to take over and make his father proud by putting on the best wrestling, for the best fans in the world. As Gory puts down the microphone, Shawn Michaels, last seen on World Wrestling Federation television, steps over the guardrail and into the ring. The crowd erupts, one of the biggest stars in the world is right there in front of them, a total surprise. Gory asks him what he’s doing there, and Shawn replies that he’s bored up in New York, and he’s come to take over, here in Texas. Michaels says he is the biggest star in the world and demands a title shot tonight, against TWF heavyweight champion Eddie Guerrero.

Gory tells Michaels he needs to earn a title shot, no matter how big he is in New York, he has to earn respect in Texas, this is Guerrero country, Michaels will have to respect the way it works. Michaels ponders what Gory says, before sucker punching Gory and knocking him down, drawing deafening heat from the crowd, with some even trying to get into the ring to get at Michaels. ‘EARN IT’? Michaels shouted, “I’M THE BIGGEST STAR IN THE WORLD TODAY. I WANT MY TITLE SHOT, RIGHT HERE, TONIGHT”. Michaels then mounts Gory and starts to punch Gory until Gory can’t take any more and is busted open. All of a sudden, Eddie Guerrero rushes into the ring, and Shawn Michaels slides out. Eddie checks over his fallen father, before getting the microphone and demanding Michaels get into the ring immediately. Michaels feigns getting in the ring, before backing off and demanding his own terms, he wants a shot later that night for the title. Eddie immediately accepts without thinking about it, and Michaels leaves through a hostile crowd.

A team of EMT’s help Gory out of the ring, and into a waiting ambulance. He is taken away to a local hospital.

In the first matchup of the evening, The TWF Tag-Team Champions, The New Age Outlaws, defended their titles against Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase, Team Priceless. However, partway through the match, Kenny Dykstra and Christopher Nowinski ran in and beat down both teams, with Dykstra grabbing the microphone, and explaining to the crowd that he and Nowinski were sick of being held down, and had taken it upon themselves to win gold, TWF Tag-Team Gold. He said they were the future of the business, and these ‘Young Guns’ were taking the titles the next chance they get.

When we returned, a smiling Kelly Kelly comes out and tells the world she’s glad to be there, but before she could get anything else out, she was attacked by veteran Women’s champion, The Fabulous Moolah. Making her way back up the ramp, Moolah walks past Mexican legend Dos Caras. After Kelly Kelly is helped out of the ring, he issues an open challenge for next week.

In the next match, wrestling legend Bob Orton Sr. watched as his young and up and coming grandson Randy Orton defeated Bob Backlund with help from Dory Funk Jr. After the match, Dory Funk Jr. told Backlund he was an embarrassment to the sport of professional wrestling. The next match of the evening saw Dean Malenko successfully defend his TWF Cruiserweight Title against hotshot Billy Kidman. In a match that lasted over 20 minutes and could have gone either way, it was Malenko who managed to get the win, and the two wrestlers shook hands after to a warm round of applause from the Texan fans.

In the following contest, there was a real brawl as Abyss managed to beat down Dory Funk Sr. He got on the microphone and told the world there wasn’t a better big man than him anywhere in the wrestling world. This bought out Big John Studd, who had a stare down with the monster Abyss, before they were pulled apart by referees.

In the main event of the show, controversy filled the Dallas Sportatorium as Shawn Michaels walked out the TWF Heavyweight Champion after pinning Eddie Guerrero. Eddie was able to control his emotions enough to have the match in hand, but Michaels’ friend and fellow New York native, Scott Hall, shocked the arena by running through the crowd and knocking out Eddie Guerrero with the TWF Title while the referee was seeing to Michaels on the canvas. The show ended with irate fans trying to get to Shawn Michaels as he and Hall left the arena.

Match results:

New Age Outlaws No-Contested Team Priceless

Randy Orton defeated Bob Backlund

Dean Malenko defeated Billy Kidman

Abyss defeated Dory Funk Sr.

Shawn Michaels defeated Eddie Guerrero (New TWF Heavyweight Champion)

Week Two

Location: Dallas Sportatorium.

TV Tapings

After last weeks shocking events, the fans in the Sportatorium were dying to know what was going on, and they didn’t have to wait very long, as the show opened with Eddie Guerrero already standing in the ring. He calls out Shawn Michaels, telling him to be a man and face him one on one. Michaels and Scott Hall come out through the crowd and get into the ring. Eddie doesn’t budge and tells Michaels that since the TWF Title is property of the Texas Wrestling Federation, Gory has ruled that Michaels must defend that title tonight, in a rematch from last week against Eddie. Eddie also says that since Michaels has Hall in his corner, he’ll be bringing his brother along to watch his back, Chavo Guerrero Sr.

Backstage, Moolah is asked why she did what she did last week, and she explained that she was tired of ‘Barbie-wannabes’ trying to take the spotlight from real wrestlers like herself.

The Young Guns, Nowinski and Dykstra, call out the Tag-Team Champions, The Outlaws. Billy Gunn and Road Dogg come out. Nowinski demands a shot at the title, but the Outlaws tell them they need to earn it first. From the back, Gory Guerrero deems that the Young Guns will face a mystery team next week to determine the number one contenders. The Guns seem pretty happy with the announcement.

Dos Caras comes out for his match, but nobody comes out. Annoyed, Dos Caras shouts down the microphone at everybody in the back, calling himself the best Lucha in history. He gives somebody one last chance but nobody comes out. Angry, he walks to the back.

Once again, Bob Orton Sr. watched on as his grandson, Randy Orton, continued to win, this week against legendary wrestler Big John Studd, but only after Abyss ran in and hit Studd with the black hole slam. Bob Orton Jr. raised his son’s hand as Orton Sr. applauded in the crowd.

In the next match, we once again saw Kenny Dykstra, as he lost a number one contendership match for the Cruiserweight Title to Billy Kidman, who will now go on to face Dean Malenko next week. Dykstra’s partner Christopher Nowinski tried to help him, but Malenko came out to aid his future opponent. After the match, Malenko raised Kidman’s hand.

Next, Bob Backlund comes out and demands Dory Funk Jr. explain hi actions from last week. Instead, Funk’s father Dory Funk Sr. comes out and apologises for his son, before turning on Backlund from behind and laying him out.

In the shows main event, Eddie Guerrero defeated Shawn Michaels by disqualification after Kevin Nash ran in and attacked Eddie. Chavo Guerrero Sr. tried to save his brother but was also beaten down as the three men enjoyed the numbers game over the Guerreros. Because it was a disqualification, Michaels lost the match but didn’t lose his TWF Heavyweight Title. The show went off the air with the three men standing tall in the ring over Eddie Guerrero and Chavo Guerrero Sr.

Match Results:

Randy Orton defeated Big John Studd

Billy Kidman defeated Kenny Dykstra

Eddie Guerrero defeated Shawn Michaels

Week Three

Location: Dallas Sportatorium.

TV Tapings

The show opens with Kenny Dykstra and Christopher Nowinski in the ring waiting to see who their mystery opponents are. After a long pause, Lance Storm and Justin Credible come out! The debut of The Impact Players is a successful one, as they pick up the win against the Young Guns. The Impact Players will meet The New Age Outlaws at the TWF Supercard, as announced by Gory Guerrero. Gory also says he’s acquired two of the finest wrestlers of all time, Frank Gotch and George Hackenschmidt, and they’ll face off in a special attraction match at the same event.

A divas match between Sunny and Candice-Michelle is interrupted by Champion The Fabulous Moolah. She beats down both divas before once against speaking of her disgust for the state of women’s wrestling in the TWF. Dos Caras comes out and again passes Moolah on his way to the ring. He asks if anyone is man enough to take on the greatest Lucha in wrestling history, but once again, to his dismay, there is no answer. Before he can leave the ring though, the lights go out, and on the big screen, a blurred picture of a mask appears. Dos Caras stands in the ring confused.

Next, there was a special lifetime achievement award being presented from Gory to Bob Orton Sr. Randy Orton slides into the ring and gets into a position where he can hit an RKO on his own grandfather, but Randy’s dad, Bob Orton Sr., jumps into the ring and stares at his son in total disbelief. Randy Orton thinks better of the situation and leaves and hurries to the back. Father and son stand in the ring trying to make sense of what has just happened.

Billy Kidman and Dean Malenko tried to have their TWF Cruiserweight Title matchup, but weren’t able to as before the bell, The Young Guns were back and venting their anger from earlier by attacking both men. Gory Guerrero is out and tells security to escort both men out of the arena, and announces that this match will still take place, but next week instead.

Abyss and John Studd went to a no contest when Studd attacked Abyss before he could even get to the ring. Security tried to separate the two giants but they couldn’t, eventually having to call for the local police to come and escort both men away. Gory announces that, if both men can keep their cool, they’ll face each other next week in a match.

Backstage, Kelly Kelly is about to interview Bob Backlund, but Backlund was jumped by Dory Funk Jr. and his father Funk Jr. The Funks look happy enough as they leave the scene, with Kelly Kelly checking on Backlund.

In the shows main event, The Outsiders, Hall and Nash, defeated Chavo Guerrero and Eddie Guerrero, after Shawn Michaels distracted Eddie. Chavo Guerrero Jr. came out to help his uncle and father, but Shawn Michaels managed to get out and cowardly attacked Gory with a superkick as the show went off the air.

Match Results:

The Impact Players defeated The Young Guns

Sunny No Contested Candice-Michelle

Billy Kidman No Contested Dean Malenko

Abyss No Contested Big John Studd

The Outsiders defeated Chavo Guerrero Sr. and Eddie Guerrero

Week Four

Location: Dallas Sportatorium.

TV Tapings

The show opens with the crowd erupting as Gory, Chavo Jr. Chavo Sr. and Eddie Guerrero all come to the ring. Gory gets on the microphone and tells the world that he didn’t appreciate being attacked for no reason last week by Shawn Michaels. He calls Michaels and his pack of thugs out to the ring, which brings out TWF Champion Shawn Michaels, and his buddies The Outsiders, Hall and Nash. Gory tells Michaels that since he’s still the TWF Champion, he’s booking him in a match at the TWF Supercard in two weeks time. Gory tells the three boys that if they really want to take over the Guerrero family’s history and tradition, they’re going to have to go through hell to do it. They’re going to have to go to War; they’re going to have to play some War Games! Gory tells a shocked Michaels that this is no ordinary War Games though.. This War Games is for the World Heavyweight Championship!

Shawn Michaels rips the microphone from Gory’s hands and tells him that he’ll only do that if it’s four against four, not just the three against three in the ring currently. Gory tells him that’s fine, because if this is going to happen, Gory wants to be involved in running the Kliq from New York right out of town and back up north. Gory demands to know who their partner will be, but Michaels tells them they’ll find out next week. Shawn Michaels and the Outsiders leave the ring as the crowd take in what’s just happened!

In the first match of the evening, new number one contenders The Impact Players took on and defeated Hawkins and Ryder after Lance Storm made Ryder tap out to the single leg crab. The Fabulous Moolah comes out following the match and congratulates the Impact Players, and tells the women in the back that that’s what wresting is all about. It’s about wrestling, not T and A. All of the women on the roster run to the ring and beat down Moolah and celebrate afterwards.

Dos Caras comes out and helps Moolah to her feet. He gets on the microphone and demands to know who is behind the mask. The mask once again comes on the screen as the lights go out, and unblurs to be the legendary mask of Mil Mascaras! The Texan crowd starts chanting the name of Mascaras!

The next match saw the TWF Tag-Team Champions take on the Worlds Greatest Tag-Team, with the New Age Outlaws again picking up another win as they gather momentum into their title match at the Supercard against the Impact Players.

In the locker room, Randy Orton is confronted by his father Bob Orton Jr. Orton Jr. asked him what the hell he was going to do to his own grandfather last week. After a few moments of silence, Randy Orton turned to walk away, but quickly hit an RKO on his own father! Orton tells his father and the rest of the world that he wouldn’t let a single legend get in his way, he is a legend in the making and that is thicker than blood. After Randy Orton left, Bob Orton Sr. came to check on his son, but was disgustingly kicked in the head by Randy! Randy Orton left the locker room leaving his own father and grandfather lying unconscious!

Big John Studd called out Abyss again, and Abyss came to the ring. Before he could do anything, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall came out and attacked Studd, while Abyss chose to step out of the ring and walk to the back. The Outsiders also made their presence known once more when they interfered in the Billy Kidman/Dean Malenko rematch. After the Outsiders left, Billy Kidman beat down Dean Malenko after exploding. He was screaming at Malenko after that he wanted his title shot.

In the back, Candice-Michelle interviewed Bob Backlund, who told her he was fed up of sneak attacks, and challenge Dory Funk Jr. one on one at the Supercard in two weeks time. In the background, Shawn Michaels and The Outsiders gloat about their night, and when Candice asked them who their mystery partner will be, Michaels reminds her to wait until next week, but does tell her that next week they won’t be the hunted, they’ll be “the hunter”. Nash and Hall laugh as the three leave the arena, as the show faded to black.

Match Results:

The Impact Players defeated Hawkins and Ryder

The New Age Outlaws defeated The Worlds Greatest Tag-Team

Billy Kidman No Contested Dean Malenko

Week Five

Location: Dallas Sportatorium.

TV Tapings

This week’s show opens with Christy Hemme interviewing Shawn Michaels, who’s with the Outsiders. He reminds us that the fourth member of the Kliq will join them in the ring later tonight, and that the Guerreros will be “completely terra-rized”.

The first match of the card saw the New Age Outlaws win by disqualification against La Resistance, when the Impact Players ran out and attacked the Outlaws, with the four men all beating down the Road Dogg and Billy Gunn. The Impact Players posed with the tag-titles after the beat down as a chorus of boos rained down on them.

Dos Caras and The Fabulous Moolah both came out to the ring together and Moolah grabbed the microphone. She challenged the entire women’s division here to a battle royal at the Supercard and she was putting her title on the line. She said she was doing this because she’ll prove just why real wrestlers are better than eye candy. She then left the ring, and Dos Caras called out Mil Mascaras after last week’s video revelation.

The lights went out, and when they came back, Mascaras was in front of Dos Caras! The legend Mascaras took down the legend Dos Caras with a flying head scissors and a DDT! He challenged Dos Caras to a match at the Supercard, vowing to prove who the best Lucha really is.

In a special sit-down interview in Gory’s home, Gory himself interviewed Bob Orton Jr. Orton Jr. says he doesn’t know why his son hasn’t returned his calls all week, but he’s done something he doesn’t have to. Bob Orton Jr. is going to face Randy Orton at the Supercard, because if there’s one thing that can rival the love he has for his son, it’s the respect and love he has for his father. Gory announces that Bob Orton Sr. will also be in the match, but as the special guest referee. Orton Jr. tells Randy that he’ll beat some respect into once and for all, and that blood is indeed thicker than being a wrestling legend. Bob Orton Sr. comes into the ring very slowly, and Orton Jr. hugs his father as Gory makes it official for the Supercard.

Billy Kidman comes out and demands his title shot once and for all, telling the crowd and Dean Malenko he is sick of waiting, that all of these false-finishes have made him mad and so angry that he’s going to tear Dean Malenko apart. Gory comes out and tells Kidman the match is made for the Supercard. Kidman tells Gory that he won’t take any more interference, that he wants it to be no DQ. Malenko comes out and challenges Kidman to a ladder match, since Kidman can’t climb with his bad legs. Kidman looked confused and said he didn’t have any bad legs, before Malenko said he did, and attacked him and smashed Kidman’s knees underneath a ladder

Gory runs down the card for the upcoming Supercard and adds Big John Studd vs. Abyss in an unsanctioned street fight. He also adds that Bob Backlund will meet Dory Funk Jr. inside of a cage, at Backlund’s request, to keep Dory Funk Sr. out!

In the main event, the Outsiders beat the father/son duo of Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Sr. after Shawn Michaels once again interfered. Eddie and Gory come out to aid them and outnumber Michaels and the Outsiders, until none other than Triple H runs out with his sledgehammer and knocks out Eddie with a shot to the head. The Kliq then beat down the Guerrero family until the entire locker room emptied and chased the Kliq members out of the arena, setting up a baptism of fire next week at the Supercard!

Match Results:

New Age Outlaws defeated La Resistance

The Outsiders defeated Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Chavo Guerrero Sr.

Here are my thoughts...

I'm digging that your super card is based on Kliq/Guerrero warfare and the Studd/Abyss and Backlund/Funk feuds get ample time on television. I'm not digging the Orton family feud, mostly due to there already being two family angles concurrently going on. That, and I think the women and tag gauntlets might be a little overkill on the same crowd. Other than that, looks solid.

Thanks.. I wish i'd had more time to do it, but there are things going on in my life which means I don't have a million years time to write it, and with the Fantasy about to take my time up, I needed to get it done quickly, but I did say i'd do it, which is why it seemed rushed. I wanted my whole card to simply revolve around the main event, the rest of the card was just filler, I didn't have the competent workers in the womens roster to really do something special, and as for the Orton match, I had nothing to do with Orton at all, so in the draft scramble managed to get some more Ortons to put together.

I liked the Orton saga, though I would not have put the World Heavyweight Championship on the line in a match comprised of two-teams. Overall, I would say that you know your audience and you would do very well in your territory.

My original idea was to have Eddie Guerrero and Shawn Michaels one on one for the title, but once I realised I could aquire the entire 'Kliq', I just knew I needed them together, and once the Guerreros joined up, there was nobody really bigger than the guys in the main event to put the title on. I might have if i'd been able to draft the last two Guerreros, but someone else wanted them so, oh well.

Overall, i've learned from my mistakes for the next draft, as I traded away in numbers as I didn't think i'd need them for the final card, but I certainly could have used them for fodder to job to my guys on the shows leading up to it. That's why there were so many non-finishes in the shows leading up, I didn't want anybody losing who was actually going to be on the card. Unfortunately, that was everybody.
