WWF/E Rebooked from 1996-Beyond(Remastered!)

Recommended Posts

Greetings. Back in 2002, I began a project that I would rebook certain things in the WWF in the past to my liking, while leaving others in tact with a few modifications where neccessary and also only sticking to the people who were on the roster at the times presented. I had planned to work at least to the InVasion but sadly the project didn't get past January 1997. A few days ago, by chance, I came across the old fantasy booking from then and I was visited by a strong urge to revist that project. The original postings are available somewhere on this board, but I cringe when I read them, as the spelling in many cases is rather horrid. As a result, I have began to clean up the work and will be reposting my said work month by month. At the point I reach February 1997, I will begin fresh fantasy booking!

So, without further adieu:

WWF Monday Night Raw 1-1-96:

The Ringmaster (w/Ted DiBiase) def Barry Horowitz in 7:53 with the Million Dollar Dream.

-Ted DiBiase does commentary and says that the Ringmaster may be that breakthrough wrestler he has been looking for. Ringmaster wins his in ring debut after Horowitz misses a springboard crossbody and The Ringmaster then locks in the Million Dollar Dream.

Bret Hart is interviewed. He says he will retain the world title against the Undertaker at the Royal Rumble. WWF interim president Gorilla Monsoon has declared that Bret Hart will not defend the title between now and the Royal Rumble so the Undertaker vs. Bret Hart match will take place.

Isaac Yankem DDS(w/Jerry “The King” Lawler) def "Spark Plugg" Bob Holly after a Lawler distraction and the DDS in 7:43

-Yet another squash match. Yankem is in the Royal Rumble. Lawler tripped Holly and Yankem hit the DDS for the win.

Jeff Jarrett talks backstage about his match with Ahmed Johnson at the Royal Rumble. Jarrett vows to defeat Ahmed or leave the WWF forever.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley def Avatar after the Pedigree in 9:53

-The first decent match of the night. Avatar kept Hunter off balance but he missed a moonsault allowing Hunter to score the pin with the Pedigree. Hunter remains undefeated in the WWF.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley then grabs the microphone and vows to win the Royal Rumble in two weeks.

We get a promo that says that Vader will be in the Royal Rumble.

The Undertaker(w/Paul Bearer) def Owen Hart(w/Jim Cornette) by DQ in 11:42

-It is time for the Main Event and Owen Hart used some sneaky tactics to gain control. Owen kicked the Undertaker in the head twice but on the third Enzugiri Undertaker just sat up. Undertaker made his comeback but as he lifted Owen for the Tombstone, Davey Boy Smith ran to the ring and clipped The Undertaker. A DQ is called for.

Camp Cornette works over The Undertaker. Davey Boy hits the Undertaker a few times with the tennis racket but Bret Hart rushes to the ring to make the save despite the fact that he could have the Undertaker injured before The Royal Rumble. Bret Hart chases off Camp Cornette. A livid Davey Boy and Owen challenge Bret Hart and The Undertaker to a tag team match next week. Bret Hart accepts and The Undertaker nods his head in agreement. Next week: Davey Boy Smith and Owen Hart vs. Bret Hart and The Undertaker.

Tatanka gets up and he is steamed. Dibiase pleads with Tatanka not to do anything rash and Tanaka punches his manager. Tanaka then says that Dibiase is fired but before Tatanka can attack him, The Ringmaster slips in and slaps the Dream on Tatanka. Dibiase says: “No, YOU’RE FIRED!” Dibiase then instructs the Ringmaster to finish off that piece of crap and Ringmaster tightens the hold father. -Bret was clearly at a disadvantage but he slid down from a Tombstone and hit a Russian legsweep, a running bulldog and an elbowdrop from the second rope but not enough to put the Dead Man away. Bret goes for the Sharpshooter but Undertaker chokes him preventing the hold to be turned over. The Undertaker then gets a nearfall with the Goozle and another nearfall from a double axhandle smash. Taker goes for another tombstone but the referee gets kicked. Taker drives Bret Hart into the canvas and crosses the arms across the chest but no referee. Owen Hart comes to the ring with a chair and the Undertaker doesn't see him. Owen climbs to the top rope and levels Taker with a top-rope chairshot to the back. Owen then hits a spinning heel kick and rolls his brother on top. The Undertaker sits up with Bret Hart in the cover but Owen low blows Taker causing the cover to happen and Owen holds down the Undertaker's feet. One, Two, Three. Bret Hart retains the WWF title.

Taker is livid but before he can do anything Vader rushes to the ring and Power Bombs the Undertaker. The Undertaker lays motionless on the canvas. Nobody has done that to the Undertaker. But Vader did. Vader now hits not one, not two, but three Vader Bombs to the chest of the Undertaker. Jim Cornette smiles at the top of the ramp. Vader is the newest member of Camp Cornette.

WWF Monday Night Raw 1-22-96:

We see stills of Vader dropping the bomb on the Undertaker many times. Why did Owen help Bret?

Owen Hart arrives with Vader, Davey Boy Smith, and Jim Cornette. Owen says that he did it because he proved that he can beat his brother Bret and he wants a world title shot at In Your House. Owen says that Gorilla Monsoon would have trouble arguing his point. Davey Boy Smith however wants a piece of Shawn Michaels and Vader says he wants the Undertaker or what’s left of him.

Flying Forearm, hanging vertical suplex, Flying Elbowdrop. Dibiase however trips Michaels up when he cues the band. Kid goes for a spin kick but HBK ducks and Superkicks the Kid down to the canvas. HBK makes the cover and scores the pin.

Michaels soaks in his victory but Davey Boy Smith enters the ring and clotheslines Michaels. Davey Boy then lifts up Michaels and hits not one, but two piledrivers. That is on that concussed head. Michaels is far from 100 percent. Davey Boy leaves as Diesel rushes to the ring to stand over his best friend. Diesel said before tonight went on the air that he is willing to let by-gones be by-gones because everybody wanted to win the rumble.

Avatar rips off the mask and Marty Jannetty says he is sick of this garbage. Avatar agrees and says that the Rockers were the most successful period in Marty's career. Why not form the New Rockers. Marty agrees and says that Avatar will now be known as Leif Cassidy. The Bushwhackers come to the ring for a match but the New Rockers don't take to kindly to this and they attack the Bushwhackers. They bushwhack the Bushwhackers. The Bushwhackers are getting pounded and the New Rockers leaved. A new regular tag team has been formed. The Smoking Gunns better watch out. The scheduled tag team match was The Bushwhackers vs. Brooklyn Brawler and Tony DeVito but the match does not happen.

Duke Droese def Jake Steele after the Trash Dump Factory(Tilt-a-Whirl Side Slam) in 3:21

After the match all three men viciously pummeled Razor until Savio Vega ran out along with Tatanka(who has issues with the MDC). The ring is cleared of the ruffians and the good guys stand tall. Savio challenges Hunter to put up his winning streak vs. himself at IYH. It is accepted. Savio Vega vs. Hunter Hearst Helmsley at In Your House VI: Brawl in the Family.

Owen Hart def Fatu via submission to the Sharpshooter in 8:32

Submission win.

Mankind is coming. Everybody beware. Be scared.

Duke Droese def Bob Backlund by DQ in 8:53

-This is a rematch from the previous day on the action zone. Backlund clocks Duke with an international object and the referee sees it. Duke was so close to getting a clean pin on Bob Backlund which would elevate his game.

Diesel def Davey Boy Smith(w/Jim Cornette) by DQ in 11:32

-Diesel went for the Jackknife but Cornette runs in and gets punched. Davey Boy picks up Cornette's tennis rack and cracks it over Diesel's head from behind. The referee calls for the DQ.

Shawn Michaels runs out and grabs the tennis racket chasing off Davey Boy Smith and Owen Hart(who just came out). Diesel gets up and sees Michaels with the racket. Diesel kicks HBK in the gut and Jackknifes him. This is a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Royal Rumble Main Event was worse than what it was. Too many interferences and whats with the salt blinding that causes Taker to mistakenly piledrive Hart. Doesnt sound plausible for WWE of that era.

Yeah. Plus, wasn't Ted Dibiase retired by 1996? There was no explaination given as why Dibiase was wrestling earlier on, then a manager.

EDIT:Nevermind. I mis-read the first part, and mistakenly thought Dibiase was wrestling. My bad.

March 1996:

The Road to Wrestlemania is winding and now we are in the month of March, ready for more WWF action.

WWF Superstars 3-2-96:

Bob Backlund def Tony Devito after the Chickenwing Hold in 3:12

-Let the parade of squashes for the month of march officially begin. Backlund's career is winding down but he still has a few more months of squashing jobbers on superstars and action zone left in him.

Stone Cold Steve Austin will meet Savio Vega at Wrestlemania XII. We saw their match from the Action Zone this past week. This week on the Action Zone: The Body Donnas vs. The Smoking Gunns: The Rematch for the tag team titles and the Shawn Michaels-Bret Hart contract signing.

Goldust def Fatu with a reverse DDT (not the full curtain call) in 8:08

-Well it maybe mid-carder vs. JTTS but it is better than the mid-carder vs. jobbers matches that you seen earlier. The Samoans make another appearance and Fatu screws up again. Goldust tries to lift Fatu for the Curtain Call but his back gives out. Goldust just hits a reverse DDT for the pin.

Fatu says maybe the Samoans are right. Maybe he will continue losing until he changes his ways. But the reason he has lost over the past month is because of constant distractions. He warns the Samoans that if they cost him one more match they will pay.

WWF Action Zone 3-3-96:

Vader(w/Jim Cornette) def Duane Gill and Nick Barbarry after a power bomb to each in 1:49

-Vader wins a token squash and even then the two jabronis don't equal Yoko's weight. Vader is a force to be reckoned with in the WWF and this match just proved it as he rushed through two men with ease.

The Body Donnas (w/Sunny) def The Smoking Gunns when the referee stopped the match in 15:32

-The Body Donnas retained the WWF tag team titles. The Body Donnas hit a spike piledriver on Billy Gunn but then Billy just stopped moving. The referee called the match off and the Body Donnas retain the titles. Now they have two controversial wins over the Gunns.

-This match was just brawling and dirty tactics by the Samoans.

The Samoans continued to beat the Bushwhackers into a pile of dust. Fatu rushed to the ring and fought off the Gangstas. He was doing a pretty good job until SAMU RUSHES TO THE RING. Samu attacks Fatu from behind with a stick and a triple team beatdown ensues.

The Samoans and Samu beg Fatu to return to his roots so he can't shame his family anymore by being a loser.

Gorilla Monsoon then announces the one special guest referee who will be able to troubleshoot this huge title match: "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. Roddy Piper then says he will call the match right and we will have a rightful winner. The Match is also under Iron Man rules. The wrestler who gets the most decisions in an hour will be the victor and the WWF Champion. In case of a tie their will be an overtime granted. Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart shake hands and then sign the contract. Gorilla, Vince, and Piper sign the Contract and make the match official. Stone Cold Steve Austin (w/Ted DiBiase) def Bart Gunn with the Stone Cold Stunner in 4:14

-Austin is trying to rebuild that streak that was snapped by Shawn Michaels two weeks ago. Austin has only been pinned once and that was against the MVP of 1996 so far so that is understandable. Austin stunned Bart Gunn and picked up the win.

Zeb and Justin Bradshaw are interviewed. -Short match. Lawler interfered but HBK disposed of him and put Isaac away with some Sweet Chin Music.

Lawler enters the ring and starts attacking Michaels. Bret Hart runs to the ring and pulls Lawler off. Michaels goes to superkick Lawler but Lawler ducks down and Bret gets hit. Michaels looks on in shock as Lawler and Yankem make clean getaways.

Bret Hart finally wakes up from the superkick and he is yelling that he is going to pummel Michaels at Wrestlemania. Owen Hart and Davey Boy Smith enter the ring and attack the Hitman, taking advantage of his condition. Bret is still woozy from that superkick. These vultures are picking apart Bret Hart. Owen is still mad that he lost to Bret last month at In Your House and Davey Boy lost to Bret at the previous In Your House. So if that is their reason for this unprovoked attack they are sore losers. Bret is left lying, which can’t be good for Wrestlemania on Sunday.

The Undertaker(w/Paul Bearer) def Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw(with Zeb) after the Tombstone in 13:21

-The Undertaker and Bradshaw had a nice brawl and Bradshaw hit a lariat and scored a two count. Bradshaw hit four more lariats and The Undertaker sits up. Bradshaw tossed powder in the eyes of the Undertaker and hit him with a chair but no effect. The Undertaker hit a clothesline, clothesline, jumping clothesline, legdrop, and Tombstone combo and he scored the pin.

The Undertaker soaks in his victory but a mysterious figure comes from the back. MANKIND. Mankind hits the Undertaker from behind with a lead pipe and now rolls the Undertaker over. MANKIND JAMS HIS FINGERS DOWN THE THROAT OF THE UNDERTAKER. The commentators tell us that is the Mandible Claw and The Undertaker looks even paler then usual. Mankind really did a number on him. The referees have to pull Mankind off but here come the orderlies. They put Mankind in a straightjacket and lead him back to the Boiler Room. They say this is for his own good and the safety of others. They throw Mankind, trapped in a straightjacket, into the boiler room. When is the next time the horror of all Mankind will be released? For those in the World Wrestling Federation, it can only be way too soon.

WWF Tag Team Titles

The Body Donnas(w/Sunny) def Owen Hart and Davey Boy Smith(w/Jim Cornette) and The New Rockers(w/"Rainy" )when Zip pinned Leif with a jumping knee from the second rope to the face in 17:32

-Not to be outdone the New Rockers brought a midget named Rainy to the ring. This was several quick tags and both of the challenging teams got several nearfalls. Jim Cornette tries to pass off the tennis racket to his charges but Sunny grabs it from him. Rainy enters the ring at one point and dropkicks Skip right on the ankle bone. Marty hits a Rocker Dropper for a nearfall. Several more exchanges and Rainy tries to look up Sunny's skirt. Zip scored the pin when he hit a knee to the face from the second rope to Leif. The Body Donnas retain the WWF tag team titles.

The Ultimate Warrior cuts a promo. He says he is back and back to stay. He then says that Justice will prevail and blah, blah, blah. The Warrior will extend help to wherever it is needed and so on, and so forth.

Savio and Austin had some super technical wrestling exchanges but the referee got bumped off of a ducked Austin second-rope axhandle. Savio hits a kick to the face on Austin but no referee. Savio then hits the Caribbean kick and tries to wake the referee. Austin is up and DiBiase slides him the Million Dollar Title belt. Austin runs and hits Savio in the back of the head. Austin then locks on the Dream and the referee wakes up. The arm is dropped three times and Austin retains the Million Dollar Championship.

Roddy Piper promises to be a fair referee in tonight’s Ironman match.

Ladder Match for the WWF Intercontinental title

Razor Ramon© def Goldust after grabbing the gold in 18:21

-This is Razor's type of match and Goldust was at a disadvantage. Goldust blew some gold dust into Razor's eyes and made a dash at the belt but Razor suplexed him off the ladder. Razor missed a charge and got crotched somehow. Goldust connected with a DDT on Razor onto the ladder with a sickening thud that might have been Razor's head cracking. Goldust, instead of going for the title, plays mind games. He gives Razor mouth to mouth and Razor's eyes angrily pop open. Goldust is punched and kicked. Goldust is set up and hit with the Razor's Edge straight to the concrete. Razor climbs the ladder and grabs the Intercontinental title to win the match.

Razor celebrates with the Intercontinental title but Hunter Hearst Helmsley attacks Razor from behind and drills Ramon with the Pedigree, to a loud round of boos from the crowd, as the Connecticut Blueblood has taken advantage of a winded Razor Ramon. Hunter bows at the fallen form of Razor before departing.

Vader (w/Jim Cornette) def Yokozuna with the Vader Bomb in 7:32

-Yokozuna went for the Banzai Drop but Cornette pulled Vader out of the way. Yoko crashed on the mat, his leg went numb, and just laid on the canvas hardly moving. Vader then climbs to the second rope and hits the Vader bomb on Yokozuna.

Bret Hart is getting ready for the WWF title match in the back.

Shawn Michaels is shown doing that as well.

Ironman Match with special referee Roddy Piper for the WWF Championship:

Bret whips HBK in but HBK ducks a corner charge and catches Bret in the mush with a sidekick. HBK then cues the band and hits the full blast of Sweet Chin Music. One, Two, Three.

*The bell rings as Bret is still down from the Chin Music. HBK is your new WWF champion on a 3-2 score.

Roddy Piper presents the belt to HBK who soaks in the cheers. Roddy Piper then goes to the back his work is done. Bret Hart rolls to the outside sulking holding an injured jaw. Bret Hart begins the slow, long walk to the back. HBK gets a spectacular fireworks show.

Bret has walked to the back but Diesel comes out. What does this jerk want? His suspension is up tonight. After a moment’s staredown, Diesel extends a hand for Shawn Michaels and Michaels takes it. Diesel looks away and CLOTHESLINES MICHAELS. Michaels crumples to the canvas of that vicious move. Diesel picks up Michaels and jackknifes him to the mat. Diesel then grabs the WWF world title belt and picks Michaels up. Diesel hits HBK in the face with it. The new champion has been punked by Big Daddy Cool, the man who he thought was his friend.

We cut to the parking lot where Bret Hart is putting his luggage in the trunk of his car. He turns around and mouths:" It’s over".

Three surprise attacks on babyfaces after their victory seems a little much for Wrestlemania. The Mankind attack can wait until the next night, and Diesel could simply have a stare-down with HBK ala Owen-Bret at WM X.

Justin Hawk as Taker's opponent is a bit of a let down. Even a babyface Wrestlemania rematch with Jake Roberts or a quickie feud with Diesel would work fine.

One small concern after nearly an hour or back n forth action I'd have expected the Sweet Chin Music to have been delivered in a desperation manner the way it was in that match IRL . Cuing up the band at the last instant and all doesnt really accomplish anything when you're trying to put over the match as one which takes up a lot from each of the opponents. Oh and one other thing whats so surprising about Diesel's attack on Michaels? Didnt you have him jacknife Michaels in the last IYH and earn him the suspension?

This is a good read, but yeah you definitely have way too many post match attacks on every show. Especially the Diesel/Shawn one. After all the build up I don't think they would ever destroy Shawn's big moment with something like that to end the biggest show of the year.
