I finished watching um, two matches on World Tour 1992, and got through half of another.

They were...The Mountie vs. Texas Tornado, British Bulldog vs. IRS, and British Bulldog vs. Earthquake.

All were sloppy, all were not very good. I quit watching because someone called.

We need this thread, so here.

World Tour 1992 . . . one of the 1st CVs I've ever owned. Bought that along w/ the Amazing Managers video at a local mom and pop's video store. A really horrid tape for the most part. Packs the most boring battle royal I've ever seen though Hart/Martel followed by Savage/Michaels salvages the vid for all intents and purposes (I love Monsoonisms).

Thought it could cross a fine line between what people could make comments about in the DVD thread in the WWE folder instead of here, they DO show a lot of WWE Home Video releases that could be included in here too.

This may well be the last taped WWF appearance of Andre the Giant's career.

It's interesting that Piper is on the card considering he had finished as an active competitor in the WWE after WM8.

This thread seems like the opportune moment to bring up something funny I always find with these tapes. I know I've discussed this with DrVenkman before, but I love when they dub commentary over matches that were clearly taped months, or years earlier, while mentioning recent events. A good example of this is The Undertaker's Gravest matches, released in December of 1993, and features an Undertaker vs Mountie matched filmed in August 1992, with Jim Ross dubbing commentary talking about how The Mountie is having a lot of success in the WWF. Let's ignore the fact that The Mountie was off TV by October 1992, while Jim Ross didn't even debut as an announcer until April 1993. By the time this match was ever seen by anyone, Jaques Rougeau was already in a completely different gimmick. I just find gaffes like this endlessly hilarious.

Similar to that I remember a tag match between Hart/Savage vs Michaels/Flair on Grudges, Gripes, & Grunts from July 20th, 1992. Hart was IC Champ and Savage was WWF Champ. Ross referred to Hart as a former WWF Champion.

It's a shame Martel and Hart were never at the same level where they could have had an extended feud (Bret always seemed to be a rung above where The Model character was in the early 90s). A few non-televised IC title matches in 1992 was as close as they came (from what I recall). I actually remember watching the clips of the build-up angle to SummerSlam 92 where Michaels cost Martel his match with Bret - I was actually thinking "Hart's in the Boston Crab! The Model was going to win!". I was always a Ric Martel fan.

The 20 Best of the WWF Tapes are pretty good w/ a few exceptions (12, 14, & 16 being some off the top of my head).

The Rock's commentary is the only good thing about this HHH DVD from what I've watched. I've come to realize I don't even enjoy HHH's universally liked matches.

I guess I just never bought HHH as a real main event guy. Years of constantly having the company try to convince everyone otherwise has only amplified the situation. It's funny how HHH talks about how he was at a certain level with DX, but he knew he had to branch out to get to that higher, main event level. I totally bought him as a mid-talent guy and really enjoyed his work during the DX era. I was just never able to buy into the character shift to snarling egomaniac.

Bruiser, you hint at something I thought about when I saw a HHH DVD. His matches, even the classics he's been in, all follow a pattern of shortcuts and sledgehammers, etc. When you watch one of them you'll walk away saying "Wow, what a great match." But then you watch the 3 Stages with Austin, the Foley HIAC, and bunch of others all at once and you see how repetitive it all gets.

Technically, it's a WWE Home Video. What was on part 3? That's one of the things I didn't get this time.

I wish they'd show more of these Coliseum Home Videos on WWE 24/7 Classics On Demand. I enjoyed the "Best Of The WWF" volumes.

I'm sorry about that Bob. I couldn't see the last 6 buttons where you put your signature at. I was on a different computer, so that could've been the problem.

I'm not sure what the problem was, but now I can see them. (IMG:http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

From what I can recall:

First IC win vs. HHH. I thought this was interesting as HHH was poised to defend it against someone else at the PPV that was just days away. I don't really know the backstory but interesting none the less.

Nation of Domination stuff with Owen Hart and DX.

HHH vs. the Rock from the qualifying King of the Ring match of all things in 98. They did not show Fully Loaded or the Summerslam ladder match on this cut. I *think* the actual DVD had the 2 out of 3 falls match that went to a countout? Maybe in the extras so it could still be coming.

Survivor Series Deadly Game recap and then the final match vs. Foley.

Out of that feud they passed over Breakdown and 99 Royal Rumble (overplayed) and instead showed the St. Valentine's Day Massacre Last Man Standing match. This features a drawn out double stretcher job after both take chair shots. I never got that after all the violence between the two - THAT would be a plausible ending. Hadn't seen it since 99 though. Then they showed the ladder match from the next night's RAW where Rock got the title back.

WM XV vs. Austin

Yeah, the next two parts has the good stuff like HHH/Rock from Backlash 2000 (which should have taken place a month earlier) and Angle/Rock from NWO '01.
