More WWE superstars to ask for release ??

Recommended Posts

Guest glennsoe

We have learned that more WWE Superstars may be on the verge of asking for their releases.

Brian "Spanky" Kendrick sent shockwaves through WWE dressing rooms when he asked for, and received, his release a couple of weeks ago. Several other Superstars had talked about doing the same thing, but Kendrick was the first (at least recently) to do so.

Sources tell us that as many as four other WWE Superstars were prepared to ask for their releases at about the same time as Kendrick.

There has been a growing frustration, according to our sources, with the creative direction of the company - particularly the RAW brand. Complaints from the Smackdown roster appear to be more related to frustration with locker room issues than with the creative content of the show.

Some WWE Superstars have complained privately about poor communications from the WWE Talent Relations staff regarding upcoming schedules. Others are upset with the recently instituted meetings held the afternoon of RAW and the Smackdown tapings. While the meetings are seen as a positive because they appear to be an effort on the part of the WWE to have a more open dialogue between management and wrestlers, many wrestlers resent the specific nature of some of the criticism that has surfaced in these meetings. Others believe the meetings are a waste of time, because they don't feel the WWE is sincere in wanting input from wrestlers.

Before the holidays the big topic of discussion was "Who will the WWE release?". That question has changed in recent weeks to "What WWE Superstar will be the next to ask for their release?"

You know...regardless of the source, I find this statement to be major hyperbole.

"As many as four?!" WOW, STOP THE PRESSES!! We could have a full-scale walkout next, bah gawd!! WWE's hinder's really in the flames now!

And who would those four be? I mean we can all make guesses about folks that never get used like Kanyon and Ultimo Dragon, but would it even matter if they left since WWE doesn't use them anyway? RVD is the other possibility but his contract is coming up soon already right?

Yeah, that's probably who it is: talent that isn't even getting used anyway. Guys on the roster who are lucky to even make Velocity/Heat.

I'd say Kanyon could be one.

RVD? No, he wouldn't want his release when he can just half-ass his way until the end of his contract.

Ultimo wanted to be at Mania so I wouldn't say him....

Moore's at least getting to be on TV so not him...

Richards--ditto.

Dreamer maybe.

Watch it be them, Sean O' Haire and Palumbo or something.

The only person I can think of that would surely want his release would be Ultimo Dragon.

Dreamer has actually been afraid of being released so I doubt its him.

Looking at the Raw Roster(where the article makes it sound like those wanting their release are coming from) I would say

Val Venis

Rodney Mack

Lance Storm

Sylvan Grenier

Question is, where do these guys go from here? TNA?

TNA, ROH, Japan

Lance Storm could be big in Japan where they actually value wrestling skills.

Last I heard, Mack & Grenier were injured.

Mack and Grenier are injured, and frankly I wouldn't miss Grenier in the least.

Venis and Storm are in a storyline together, but injuries have bogged down their abilities to perform well/consistently.

I'd expect the ones to be asking for release are perfectly healthy but not being used at all.

I figured they just kept Mack off TV because he sucks

I knew Grenier had been injured but since he didn't get along with anybody in the back anyways I thought he would take his chances

I could see Storm being feed up. He hates traveling and to do so without a real push must get on his nerves. He really is a family man and he could get work else where, make good money and still spend more time with his family then he is now. Plus, he was just pulled from the Japan tour coming up so that's taking money out of his pocket.

I wouldn't blame him if he wanted out.

FBI always gets TV time and are usually in the middle of a significant program...I doubt they want out.

Plus isn't Mack dating or married to Jazz? No way he would give up his WWE job to go work on indys where he's not even guarenteed to get work.

Not to mention he's a world class wrestler getting no chance to show his skills, and they make him do that stupid dance and team up with a male porn star.

Most wrestlers were happy with the recent backstage meetings that Vince McMahon has held with talent and plans to continue. The meetings have improved morale. Wrestlers feel that they are now being included more and are actually being told what they are doing right as well as what they are doing wrong.

Well, now that would seem to fly directly in the face of the 'news' reported in the original post.

Do Lance and Val even have a team name yet?

If Russo was still around they'd probably be called Canadian Cock or something like that.

Kendrick has started a revolution...

Brian Kendrick asking for his release a few weeks ago has sent shockwaves through WWE which may result in up to four other wrestlers also asking for their release. Many wrestlers, especially on RAW, are very frustrated with the creative decision and have been considering leaving the company for some time now. The Smackdown guys are more frustrated with the locker room chemistry.

Many wrestlers are upset with WWE's poor communication and feel the recent talent meetings are not a sincere way for management to work with talent.

Seems like the mighty wrestlingunlimited isn't the only one reporting this story. Of course, the fact that it'll be Heat and Velocity jobbers asking for their release kinda waters down the impact of Kendrick's "revolution"

According to Dustin Rhodes, Rhyno could makes loads in Japan, especially in ZERO-ONE as they'd cream themselves for the chance to add him to their roster.....that's SD though...

Who?

How dare you take the words out of my mouth.

I love you. Please have sex with me.

Anyway...I predict Funaki will walk out next. Taka basically did so, and Funaki would get a lot more work in Japan than he has now. Of course, Taka lives in Japan (I think), but Funaki lives and has family in Texas, so it may not work out too well...

I must see this thread. It sounds hilarious. Can someone link me to it, if it still exists?

PWTorch reports that the meetings are helping morale, story gets a thread here.

1Wrestling reports that the meetings aren't helping and people are contemplating quitting, and it gets a thread here.

We need to stop accepting ONE of these guys as a reliable source.
