Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 7

Recommended Posts

I have no idea what's gonna happen this season, except that Xander will finally do something. It's gotta happen.

And yeah, the ending to the season premiere was outstanding. Though Dru filling in for Angelus was a little odd.

It was Season 4. 'Twas also the last appearance of the great Ethan Raine.

Watcher never happened because Whedon has just been too busy. Once Buffy ends this year, Angel is finally stripped of all ratings by WB and canceled, and Firefly is canceled by the trigger-happy Fox execs, then maybe Watcher will happen.

I consider the fact that she had been on the show...every show...for so long that she was a main character.

She was intricate to plots and given a roll ro play every week.

I don't care who has their name in the opening and who doesn't.

Tara was a main character.

Good.

So having her appear in the creds with the "important" characters should have no effect whatsoever.

There's no reason for her to be there, and yet, there she is. Amber Benson being in the credits isn't a HORRIBLE thing(It's a nice for her to be there, even if it was just this once), but no one's questioning that. If she'd been up there a bit earlier, Joss's shock tactic wouldn't be so contrived, and the scene would have played out better than it did.

I really didn't even notice Tara in the opening credits to begin with, I didn't find out til someone said it here.

Do you think that after Buffy is over, any of the characters may float over to Angel?

Hopefully Spike will. His kinship with/hatred of Angel is wonderful. Though them now both being good could mess that up. I hope not, their relationship is fucking great. It's the thing I miss most about the cross-overs.

Honestly, I think Buffy might outlive Angel. I can easily see the WB pulling the plug on it and UPN moving on to a BtVS without Sarah, if she decides to pursue a fulltime movie career.

Not that anyone's itching to see Dawn the Vampire Slayer anytime soon, but a Faith story might be interesting. I don't think a Buffy-less BtVS could last very long, but it could very well happen.

I can definitely see Dawn taking over, with all of the seeds being blatantly planted in this episode. Buffy has never been one of my favorite characters so it wouldn't be too much of a loss for me.

The introduction of tough Dawn and her two outcast buddies was kind of weird. I really hope they differentiate at least a little from the old Buffy/Willow/Xander gang.

Dawn as the Slayer would suck, but Faith...now that could be a cool show. Of course, half of the old school Buffy characters would have to be dropped...I somehow don't see Xander and Willow around with Faith as the Slayer. If they end the "Hellmouth" with this season, they could up and move the location of the series almost anywhere. Which would help out for a Faith series.

I could see Anya floating over to Angel, actually...does she really have any reason to be in Sunny-D anymore?

I think that The First may be the Big Bad this season. How they could even possibly "kill" it would be beyond me though.

Great premiere. I totally marked out for the final scene with the morphing. Glory, Mayor, Dru...I loved it!

Dawn the Slayer would suck...she's not a slayer for one...you can kill vamps but that doesn't make you THE SLAYER.

Dawn's character is sooo damn annoying, I wouldn't be able to enjoy the show if she was the focal point. Bring back Faith or rename ths show the "Scooby Gang" or something...NO DAWN, she's not a strong character.

I liked the season premiere, I didn't think I would buy Buffy in the counsellor's position, but the show made it work. The ending was just one big mind fuck - WHICH IS FUN! - Xander as Shiney Car Drivin, Big Suit wearing responsible money man is a great evolution to his character IMO because, as in what happens in real life, he has grown up. I am never that big of a fan of Witchy Willow so I disregard those scenes, Dawn is still no fun, Spike isn't either any more, the principal shows promise, but the eps. did what it was supposed to do - get me hyped for the season!

The first is obviously the big bad for the season.

You have the robed preist dudes at the begaining of the ep killing the girl( they have to summon the First) and then how the people were talking in the montage( Back to the begaining) and we know that they do the shape shifting thing when they were tormenting Angel in season 3. I rewatched that episode today just to get refreshed on it all. I am REALLY looking forward to it.

By the way, Mayor Wilkins does own you all...except for Glory. Glory's whole demeener was so awsome to me.

and my order of the seasons from greatest to just good.

1: Season 2

2: Season 5 (just behind season 3)

3: Season 6 (Yes, I love seeing characters actually develop and grow up. I loved the darkness of it.)

4: Season 3: Wilkins...tha mo-fluckin man. I loved the enterplay between him and faith.

5: Season 4: Not as bad as people remember. Riley sucked donky balls, but there were some really strong episodes.

6: Season 1: very good, but the worst of the bunch in my eyes.

The worst season of Buffy is still better than 90% of the other stuff on television, though.

I think at this point we should just ask if anyone thinks season 2 isn't the best...

and then stone them

So, so true.

I urge everyone who doesn't have season 2 on dvd to pick it up. It doesn't really have a whole ton of extras, but there's enough. Plus, it's friggin season 2. And rather cheap, considering it's like 6 dvds. Go buy now!

And I totally forgot about those monks in the beginning until someone brought it up. Any alternate theories as to the big bad, besides the First?

I'd put 6 above 2. 2 had the quantity of quality eps. but 6 had 2 of the best buffy esp ever in Hush and the Season Finale.

Hush is one of the reasons I rank 4 above 6 and 1...untill the Musical came only Hush was my favorite ep of all time.

I liked the season premiere, but this season has a LOT to prove to me to make me forget & forgive that abortion of a season 6.

And godDAMN all of you who still crow about the musical. THAT is where my personal tide turned against Joss Whedon.

That said, I have high hopes for this season, so I hope I'm not disappointed.

And as long as we're discussing individual characters, let me just throw out the opinion that no matter who's name is in the title of the show, Spike IS the best character ever in this series. Bottom line. No other character has grown or has as much depth as that one. Spike RULZ~!

whats so great about this show? A friend of mine watched it when it first came out, and I caught it with him a few times. I felt dumber for subjecting myself to the bullshit show that was buffy. It's boring and just dumb overall. Why do people love this show?

You could describe the eps you watched so we could get a better feel for what set you off, but since you've already made up your mind about this "bullshit show", you might not even wanna bother. If Seasons 1 and 2 caused an IQ drop, no amount of pimping will sway you now.

See, I don't get these posts. This would be like someone storming the WWF folder and claiming that wrestling was "stupid and just gay overall. Why do people like this shit?"

What the fuck is the point of coming into a thread like this if you don't like the show?

He's just trolling, Big. Ignore him.

Anyways, I saw the commercial for this weeks Buffy, and it seems like they're going for the comedic route. I'm quite looking forward to it. :)

Though the show still hasn't fully recovered from the post-season 3 drop, it's kept me entertained over the past few years. The musical (though a cover for the LACK of plot in season 6) was very good, at least IMHO. But if you want the BEST of Buffy, buy any of the first three seasons on DVD (roughly $35-45 at Wal-Mart). You get an entire season and a few extras for a VERY affordable price, given the prices of most season DVD's out there.

The new episode...

I liked it, I thought they rushed the whole thing about finding out about Spike's soul, it was only the 2nd episode.

The opening with chicks getting offed kinda makes you think...they seemed agile and whatnot...Slayers? I dunno.

Maybe it's just me...but I like that they're making references to stuff that happened in seasons 1-6.

Thoughts?

I loved the reference to the first principle. They're like magic shop owners in Sunnydale.

I thought the ep was rather good...it was kind of lame that Anya turned Mr Worm back human, but I suppose they are going to get her and Xander back together again. Who knows what that was all about.

And yeah, the Spike soul thing did seem like it came way too early. The way the ep ended was an interesting image though. And I have no clue where they're going with it.

The first thing I thought of the opening was "RUN LOLA RUN!". Nice homage to a great film. As for the chicks getting offed...I'm guessing that eventually one of them is going to escape, run off to Sunny-D, and let the gang know what has been going on. I doubt they're Slayers...but if it's Eliza Dushku on the run next week, I suppose we'll have our answer.

One more note: Spike has his hair back. Thank goodness.

The opening of the episode seemed Alias-like to me, heh.

I think it's great that they have had references here and there to the earlier seasons. The mentioning of Flutie in last night's episode did indeed get a laugh out of me.

I really liked the final scene with Buffy and Spike. Some great acting by James throughout the episode, I thought. The image of him draped across the cross...I just can't place my finger on where I have seen that same image before (a Caravaggio painting, maybe).
