Cops; Idiots on Patrol

I'm watching Cops on FX! right now and thus far in this one episode they've screwed two people over.

Girl calls about a man attempting to rape her. Also says she was thrown into a window and has a few cuts on her back along with red marks from beind held down and her shirt is ripped. They go ask the accused man about this and since he is in the Navy and also has a friend near-by who says the girl punched the window(the window was caved in and the girl had no marks on her hands) they put cuffs on the girl and throw her in the back of the squad car.

Person number two is arrested for floating about in an inner tube about 15-20 feet from shore while drinking a beer...that's it.

Imagine the conversation between those two in the holding cell

Man: What are you in here for?

Woman: A guy tried to rape me, you?

Man: I drank a beer in the water at the beach

Fox should give the police force an IQ test before filming them.

The best part of cops is them talking about what happened afterwards, it's so forced and just comes off akwardly funny.

Cops is a GENIOUS show. Does anyone watch it for actually acts of law ENFORCEMENT?? If so, then you need to change the channel. It's halarious how out of hand and stupid the show is at times. I LOVE IT!

For one of my Administration of Justice classes in undergrad, the professor - who was an ex-cop - used to have us watch Cops every week, then he would go through the program and point out all of the examples of how police officers should NOT act.

The only time that I can actually sit through an entire episode of Cops is when it's in Boston ... there's nothing cooler than seeing places you know on Cops

(I watched a repeat just a few months ago, and there was a foot chase that went right by my old apartment. The episode originally aired before I lived there, and I've since moved out, but it was still neat to see my place in the background of a police chase.)

Funny enough, I'm watching an episode of Cops right now taking place in Tacoma, Washington.. during or just right before Cops aired there was a brief infomerical for buying property in nearby Anderson Lake, Washington (I think that was the name of the place), which I found kind of ironic.

Anyone see this episode (one of the many) involving domestic abuse:

Man beats the holy hell out of his gf / wife

She calls the police

Cop arrives and places the man in cuffs to restrain him

Woman lands a haymaker to the guy to get a little revenge on him

Cop uncuffs the man, places the woman in custody and takes HER to jail.

FUCKED UP!

vh1 did a clip show last week about cops, including the officers commenting on their appearances on the show. It was actually kind of entertaining, especially for the one that went down like this:

Woman hails the police down, claiming she got ripped off by her neighbor. She gave the neighbor $20 and the neighbor kept it. The cop asked her what she gave the neighbor the $20 for and the woman goes "for crack". The cop is completely flustered and asks her again, to which she repeats that she gave the woman money to buy some crack. The cop goes over and talks to the neighbor, who of course has no idea what the woman was talking about. The cop arrests the first woman (I think). Then they cut back to the cop in the present day, sitting in the vh1 studio, and he tells us that two days later, they invaded the neighbor's house and it was a crack house and meth lab.

You missed out that when the officer asks the neighbor if she dealt drugs she gets very offended and says-

"I'm a prostitute."

That same episode of Cops had a better one, where apparently there was a trespassing/domestic disturbance call, and this guy came out of his mother's house with his hand having been recently stabbed. Apparently, he caught his wife cheating on him- with his mother. And then got stabbed by his mother when he arrived.

My favorite episode of Cops was when they drove a big rig into a black neighborhood and pretended that the truck broke down. The "driver" then left and all these kids broke into the back thinking there were TVs/VCRs/etc. Everytime they broke in, a swarm of officers would get them, and when they took the kids outside the neighbors were laughing at them.

Wow I need to see that one.

My favorite one, other then ones that take place in Spokane, was one with this kid whose crime I can't remember. The cops ask him for his name and after pausing he says "John" "John what?" "....John Johnson" "John Johnson huh? Spell your last name for us." ".............J-O-N-H-S-O-N"
