--Sean Sherk vs. Frankie Edgar is signed for the undercard of the 5/23 UFC show in Las Vegas, which will most likely be headlined by Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir

That's such a shit match up for Frankie. I'd like to see him fight at 145 in WEC after Sherks lays on him for 15

Well, his losses come from Franklin and Maia, so I can forgive him for those. Gouveia? Yeah, that's bad. If Quarry stops him, then I'll be mad.

How is the Gouveia loss bad? He's a big 185 with the talent to be a top contender. MacDonald is nothing more then a gatekeeper and will never surpass that status.

StrikeForce, Aprill 11th- HP Pavilion, San Jose

*First show post-purchase of EliteXC*

Frank Shamrock vs TBA

Nick Diaz vs TBA

Josh Thomson vs TBA

Scott Smith vs Benji Radach

If Nick Diaz and Shamrock get decent enough opponents, I might make the drive out to the Bay to see it.

Anyone hear of that new MMA league starting up on ESPN Deportes? I guess they are going to have a 3-man spanish telecast, and a 3-man english telecast, so for all of us gringos, the SAP button on your remote will basically work in reverse as an "english language" button. Hahaha.

They are going to be a tournament based league, at least that is how they are going to start out. All sorts of weight divisions, first show in a couple of months.

With this and Strikeforce/Elite XC back with a vengence, 2009 could be a big year for MMA(besides just UFC), even if Affliction folds.

Frank Shamrock vs Nick Diaz

Scott Smith vs Benji Radach

Josh Thomson vs TBA

Gilbert Melendez vs TBA

For what it's worth StikeForce promoter Scott Coker has indicated that a partnership with DREAM is going to be crucial to his vision for 2009. He mentioned Manhoef vs Lawler, Hansen vs Thomson and Aoki vs Melendez as dream matches he'd want to set up.

Shamrock should actually beat Nick standing. Diaz pitter patter style won't really work against Frank who has really good crisp striking, Diaz's best hopes is to get close and pull guard or execute his underrated judo. What weight will the fight be at?

Man, I don't want to see Manhoef Vs. Lawler. I like Lawler, but there isn't a 185 fighter who can strike with Manhoef, style wise this is going to be lights out for him.

Manhoef is an awesome fighter to watch. There aren't many fighters left in MMA that are like him.

He is so incredibly one dimensional. Standing, he's a monster. Despite the size difference, he can hang with WGP level K-1 fighters. He's strong as an ox and even someone like Remy Bonjasky has problems dropping him.

However, that's all he's got. If the fight turns into any kind of grappling match he's done.

UFC 98

Serra vs Hughes

George Roop vs Dave Kaplan

Sean Sherk vs Frankie Edgar

Kyle Bradley vs Phillipe Nover

Drew McFedries vs James Irvin

Houston Alexander vs Andre Gusmao

Brandon Wolff vs Yoshiyuki Yoshida

Karo Parysian vs Josh Koscheck

Karo has publicly stated that he's been offered the fight against Koscheck but an NSAC suspension would throw a wrench into things.

I meant any of the newly listed fights. Paixao couldn't handle Louro coming up in weight, while Wagney is a big featherweight; Koscheck v. Karo is obvious; Wolff has't shown me any reason to believe that he has what it takes to handle a Top 20-esque guy like Yoshida; and I think Dias subs Province early.

Now that they've reached three-digits in the "major" events, shouldn't the UFC start trying to simply brand these things a la WWE? You know, like the December one could be "Ultimate 20xx", Super Bowl weekend could be "Super Saturday", UK events could be "Yeah, this one will suck" etc.
