    Pepsi and Mt. Dew Throwback

Had to drive 20 minutes to get some. The place supposedly only had 20 oz. bottles, but turned out to have 12 packs of the Mountain Dew. I picked up 1 of those and a 20 oz. bottle of Pepsi Throwback for about $5.50 total. I rarely drink soda, and I'm just finishing up my cherry Dr. Pepper 20 oz. from over a week ago. But hopefully the Throwbacks are worth it. EDIT: I just tried some of the Pepsi. It seems smoother... less tangy and less bubbly. Pretty good, but I don't have regular Pepsi to compare it to. With Mountain Dew, I'll be able to compare. EDIT 2: I just tried regular Mountain Dew followed by Throwback. Throwback has less zip/tang to it, but I like it better. My mom, a daily drinker of "new" Mountain Dew, prefers the HFCS formula.

    TNA Impact 5-14-09

Thrilling discussion here, guys. I just finished watching Impact not too long ago. Some thoughts: It was obvious that Cute Kip was who Angelina was on the phone with last week... but WHY? Last I heard, TNA was done using him on TV. He's always been horrible, and this gimmick is his worst yet. And whatever happened to no man on woman violence? At least Kip got squashed. I liked the Jarrett segments for the most part, but it was kind of weird/creepy how he forced a Foley jab into casual conversations with his pre-teen daughters. Also, when they were driving around, the girls were not wearing seat belts. Bad parenting. Taylor Wilde is an attractive young lady and a decent wrestler, but she's been booked horribly since the day she arrived. She was pushed too hard too quickly to begin with. Then there was the terrible "ghetto party slut" team with Roxxi and that Governor bullshit. Now she's been portrayed as so desperate that she'll cream herself over a secret admirer. Also, Lauren threatening to cut Daffney was just terrible. I know Russo loves shades of grey, and I don't mind some ambiguity in the characters. But this is just too much. Joe's acting like a heel while he's with the face group; Sting's a face who's aligned with the top heel faction; and Foley seemingly switches between heel and face multiple times per show. The Front Line: Dead or alive? No wrestlers have mentioned the group lately. They certainly haven't appeared together. No more logo shirts, either. Yet Don West mentions the faction at least a couple times per show. The Sharmell/Jenna stuff is completely worthless and could have no desirable payoff short of them dykin' it up buck naked in the middle of the ring. Nash vs. Joe is meaningless at this point. They've waited way too long to have the match in the first place. Add to that the fact that Joe's been booked horribly since the beginning of 2009, and he and Nash have had little to no interaction. Joe needs to just beat the living fuck out of Nash and end it. It's not too big of a deal, but why throw Jethro Holliday to the wolves in an extended squash in his first ever singles match with the company? He looked like a total jobber, Impact logo create-a-wrestler tron video and all. Don West comparing the Jarrett videos to waterboarding was pretty funny. TNA can be so damn stupid sometimes, but despite all that, I enjoyed the show for the most part.

    NBA Offseason chatter

I only really got to see the last few minutes of the Lakers game since I was working on some stuff, but man... Game 5 aside, this team has not looked like a championship team in this round. Then again, Boston didn't look like a championship team in the first couple rounds last year, and they kicked ass in the Finals, so who knows what will happen. I'm still confident that LA will win game 7, but it's far from a given. I'd put the Lakers' chances no higher than 60%. I give Houston all the credit in the world, too. The Lakers are a better team than the Rockets on paper even with McGrady, Yao, and Mutombo in the lineup, but right now Houston is downright depleted. These guys have a ton of heart. I didn't see the Magic/Celtics game, but watching some post-game interviews, I'm starting to agree with Shaq that Stan Van Gundy is not cut out to lead a team toward a championship. The fact that the Magic have played this well under him is a testament to the talent on that team. ATTENTION: KARC AND BATTLENUTS The flame war in this thread stops now. Battlenuts, I agree with you that Karc's statements about the Lakers have been completely stupid and off-base for the most part and that he has not provided sufficient backing for those claims. But there are rules that must be followed in regards to how one conducts themselves here, and you have definitely crossed the line. You can criticize his statements to your heart's content, and you can even call him stupid. But clearly, you have crossed the line into flaming. I would have transferred the posts to No Holds Barred, but there's actual game discussion mixed in and it'd all just be one big mess. So I suggest that if you guys wish to keep the personal argument going, one of you go start a thread in No Holds Barred and call each other whatever the hell you want. In fact, I encourage it! Just keep it out of here.

    LOST

What. The. Fuck. I have said that I hoped the ending would be different from the "spoilers" I unwittingly learned about, which said that the gang from 1977 would be sent back to 2007 and encounter themselves aged 30 years (the "small group" of Others in the Temple), because I wanted to be surprised. I would've enjoyed that ending a lot more than the real one, however. The episode as a whole was very good, but after seeing 2 excellent endings on the last 2 season finales, this one was just a soul crushing letdown. Despite how awesome the first hour and 56 minutes of the episode was, I'll be left with a bad taste in my mouth for 8 months due to the Locke reveal, Jacob death, and the fact that nothing was shown after Juliet detonated the bomb (and how the fuck did it not detonate after falling hundreds of feet?). 3 horrible decisions. I went from thinking the show couldn't serve up a "miss", to losing almost all faith in regards to a satisfying conclusion to what was until that point the greatest television story ever told. The good: I loved the Jacob flashbacks. Juliet dying was an expected (but the manner in which it happened was a surprise) but heart-wrenching occurrence. Beautiful work on the part of Josh Holloway and Elizabeth Mitchell. I probably would have cried, but I had friends over, heh. Phil's death was awesome, though I wanted Sawyer to kill him. Jacob seemingly bringing Locke back to life was a great moment. I enjoyed seeing Rose, Bernard, and Vincent, though how could a cabin 5 miles from the barracks not be found over the course of 3 years? I also liked the painting of the golden retriever in Jacob's cabin. I don't think it had any real significance, and may have been a subtle wink and nod to the theory that Vincent is Jacob, a theory which I propagated. Like I said, great episode, but the ending was horrible. Maybe there will be a great payoff next season, but the ending was akin to a cannonball to the nutsack. I just hope they can redeem themselves. No matter how good everything has been, people's strongest impression will most often be based on how things end. And tonight, they did not end well.

I'm warming up to Facebook a little more now, but MySpace will always have my heart. And I don't find bulletins on MySpace anywhere near as annoying as the constant barrage of status updates and friends' quiz results on my Facebook news feed (although I'm sure others are annoyed when a bulletin is auto-posted every time I rate a movie on Netflix). Although there is this one emo fag on MySpace who posts repeated bulletins saying "I want someone to talk tooooooooooo" or "I feel like some company. Anyone online?" with the occasional picture of the day thrown in. I don't think you can complain about MySpace whoring when you have literally 9,699 friends. :-P

    ECW 5/12

That was a pretty good episode of ECW. I marked hard when DH Smith ran in. I want to like him, though I haven't seen enough of him yet. I'm a fan of Tyson and Natalya already. And the Hart Foundation was one of my favorite tag teams and my #1 favorite stable of all time, so I'm supporting this new group. The Hart Attack finisher was the icing on the cake.

Friday Night Smackdown for May 8, 2009

Overall, tonight's show was good. Random musings: How many poodles had to die to make Morrison's coat? I like the World's Greatest Tag Team, but I hope they don't stick together. Every couple of years, they get put back together. Charlie Haas's career gets a boost, and Shelton moves down a notch. I do not like the Punk/Umaga feud. Both guys need a decent winning streak, and whoever loses at the PPV will be hurt by it. Punk especially should not be jobbing in his hometown, but he probably will. No Kane? Thank God, they're finally doing Jericho/Mysterio after 7 years. But the Intercontinetal Championship should not be involved. Shelton should win it, but he won't, given the Haas and Morrison deals. The only other heel I could see winning it would be Dolph Ziggler, but I don't expect that to happen. How crazy is it that the top 4 faces on Smackdown (with Undertaker out for a while)- Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio, CM Punk, and John Morrison- are all cruiserweights?

    UFC 2009

New video detailing the fighter creation/career mode. Remember to click the HD button.: I guess GameFAQs was right about having to retire your CAF before taking him online. Too bad. And the CAFs look like shit compared to the beautiful (can I say that when talking about a digitized version of a half naked man?) real UFC fighters, as was expected. Otherwise, I'm hyped. I decided to preorder at Gamestop sinceI like Ryan Bader a lot.

    MLB Thread

I'm doing 2 weeks for this one since the last thread didn't get many replies. In fact, I haven't had the opportunity to watch much baseball myself, or else I would have contributed. Anyway, discuss.

    MLB Thread

I know that the deal has been discussed, but I wanted to share. Like most of the coach firings in the NBA this past season, this was quite premature. But I hope the D-Backs lose all remaining games, anyway, so more power to the possibly inept replacement.

Included in the “Gears of War 2: All Fronts Collection” is the “Gears of War 2: Dark Corners” Game Add-on, which features seven new multiplayer maps and a deleted campaign chapter titled “Road to Ruin.” In “Road to Ruin,” Marcus and Dom return to the Locust Hollow in a scene that can be played two ways, guns blazing or in all-new stealth mode. http://gamerscoreblog.com/press/default.aspx

Karc, explain the Jazz series. We all know the reason you didn't post here was because you were wrong. You stopped posting when the Lakers won and came back as soon as they lost. EDIT: Someone posted this at the other board: Go to http://basketbawful.blogspot.com/ and look at the May 4th blog, or type "Karc" after hitting control + F.
