Signs You Are a Wrestling Fan

My girlfriend just told me TODAY that when she was younger she was an "Acolyte" growing up. I asked her if she ever played cards with the APA. She gave me a puzzled look. All I could say was, "Wrestling..." and she goes "oh...go figure."

Signs You Are a Wrestling Fan

I did a speech on blading when I was in college. The teacher wouldn't let me blade though. I had a football player jump me with a baking pan, beat me a few times with it, fell behind the desk, and while back there I covered my face with fake blood. Five years later I heard the professor was still telling her students about that one. Incidentally I made an A on the speech. Anyway if that wasn't a sign that I was a wrestling fan I don't know what would be.

I'd call him Alstott - lite in that he could be counted on when his number was dialed - but his number was seldom dialed in a Sean Payton offense. The stupid thing is Saints also signed Heath Evans. I have no ill will towards Evans but he's a bit older and has more mileage on him than Karney. Oh and they cut him the day before his wedding. Classy. http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=524584

Saints released Fullback Mike Karney, making me pretty angry. He was one of my favorite players.

    Wrestling Quirks

Wrestling title belts mean more than family. It's ok to turn heel on your brother/sister/father/cousin if it means a title shot. Everybody's got a price, even if it means sacrificing your native heritage.

    13 year old Father.

Creepily enough, when I was in 6th grade, circa 1993, there was a girl who already had a 'reputation.' I mean *obviously* it was all b.s. rumors (I hope) but Christ. The specific set up was: "Hey man, if you're ever going out with Jane, and you want a piece of her, just take her to the Holiday Inn." I mean come on it had to be kids spreading dirty lies. This story makes me question my skepticism.

    The 2009 NFL Offseason

Yes. But he over threw a lot too. He was under 60% completions his 2 years as an active player and threw 13 INTs in 2008. In fact the only 2 games he didn't throw a pick were against teams they easily over matched.

    The 2009 NFL Offseason

Right. I had the pleasure of watching him in person twice since SHSU is a conference rival and I travel a lot. He does have a cannon. Mostly in FCS games a QB throws a football there's a collective gasp due to the fact that its a quarterback in the FCS. When Bomar throws it, its so graceful and pretty. Gosh I hated it!!!!

    The 2009 NFL Offseason

I like the guy as a developmental project. Not sure he'll be taken in the 3rd (though I could see it) but I expect him to go more around the 4th or 5th round. He definitely has good enough arm strength but seems to come off as more of a Tyler Thigpen type QB (who got drafted in the 7th out of Coastal Carolina). He'll need to work hard to read coverages better and pick up the speed of the game. He could be serviceable if employed in a pre-dominant Spread system as Thigpen was last year, but he'll likely need 1-2 seasons on the bench first. The thing with NB though is when he's on, he's on. When he's off.....ugh. I watched him totally blow it against my alma mater last year and we had a REALLY down year. Still, he was a four year starter and he would have led his squad to the FCS playoffs if not for transitional rules prohibiting it. Speaking of Southland conference quarterbacks....Rhett Bomar? I can not get a figure on him one way or the other. I can honestly argue for him to go as early as round 1 and as late as...not drafted.

    Extracting MP3s from the Ipod...

If I recall correctly: Hook the Ipod to your computer. Show hidden files. View the IPOD from your "My Documents" folder. Go to my computer and view it as you would a flash drive... They should be accessible from there. Pretty sure though you won't be able to tell what file is what without listening to them individually. Like they'll all have generic titles. Mind you I haven't done this since like 2006.

I say nab Central Arkansas QB Nathan Brown in the 3rd round. Don't sleep on this kid. He should be there by third round. HarleyQuinn can probably back me up on this assessment.

    Favre Retirement II: Electric Boogaloo

Kellen Clemens has not lit the world on fire, but at the same time he has not really been given the ball for TOO extended amount of time. Heck look how much time Grossman got in Chicago (albiet he was a first rounder as opposed to a 2nd rounder). I'm not a Jets fan so I'm not emotionally invested in the team, so just take this as a general football fan speaking. I say go for the journeyman back up and keep K.C. Use the draft to stockpile other positions. Clemens may surprise. He may have a Cassel or Derek Anderson break out year (and hopefully not fizzle later) The first year for Ryan should be a honeymoon year unless he pulls a Petrino or a Cameron. The 2010 draft is a LOT sexier for quarterbacks anyway should the Clemens experiment bomb for good. I haven't seen Kellen Clemens in practice though and I've only seen limited NFL game footage. Shall be interesting to see where the Jets go from here. As for Brett Favre Brett Favre Brett Favre, what can be said? The man did for 18 years what a good bit of us dream about. His last few years have grated on a few people's nerves, yes. But hey, he's always been fun to watch...again if you don't have an emotional investment in the team he is representing...or playing against. I'll always remember that 2003 MNF game against the Raiders (mostly because ESPN won't shut up about it) but yeah it was inspiring. Here's to hoping it doesn't come out that he was on performance enhancers at any point in his career. Because you know we'll just have to deal with more Brett Favre headlines.

    The 2009 NFL Offseason

"The officer went into the restroom, heard the same sniffing and peered over the stall door. He saw Jamal Anderson and Mark Hudson sniffing two lines of powdered cocaine off the back of the toilet." Drugs are bad enough but to be snorting the junk off the back of the toilet? Gross. Couldn't spring for a record album, a mirror, or something? Such a shame too. I enjoyed his analysis on First Take

    NFC Championship Thread

So we still have the SB to play, but listening to the interviewer asking Warner if he wanted to return next season made me wonder, if he does return, where does Matt Leinart go? Can they still afford that expensive of a back up? Personally if I was Warner, win or lose I'm retiring after the Pro Bowl. I don't know that they can do this again next year. And watching the game, I too kept thinking about Canton in the back of my mind. And I will never be accused of being a Warner fan.
