Guest Shaved Bear Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 Ok by the way they set things up on Smackdown tonight, it looks like Team Canada is going to have one of the two following people join. First to consider is Jericho, he willingly gave a match to Edge and Hogan against Lance and Christian. This would make sense from a WWE point of view as Jericho really hasnt been involved in anything and needs to do something. Jericho, a proven heat gatherer can certainly do the job of elevating Team Canada to the next level, but would it leave Lance Christian and Test in the background? This seems like a likely idea and it would be a risk--but at this point the WWE needs to start taking risks with younger workers Second to consider is Edge, this would be likely because Edge has seemingly lost the momentum he has had since returning from his injury. With Edge turning on Hogan and joining Team Canada at the PPV he would then be able to rejoin the successful tandem of Edge and Christian, put them back on their Old Heel tactics, and then make Lance the leader of the group, with Test standing as the silent enforcer. Both of these seem like possible results, what do you guys think is going to happen?
Guest CanadianChick Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 I don't think that Edge will turn heel...he is really getting over as a face now.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 I say they have Jericho join as the leader. Next week have them berate Edge for being a traitor. Then at the PPV, Edge turns on Hogan and joins. This would explain Jericho dodging the match with Edge, instead of just making him look like a coward.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 I don't think either happens. They've been spending so much time building Edge as a face that a heel turn now would be rather pointless, since he, Rock, and Hogan are basically Smackdown's top faces. As for Jericho, while he would give the group some cred, I think they'll leave him solo. Though I could see him interfering at Vengeance, attacking Edge to cost them the belts, then joining Team Canada...it's possible. I like him better on his own, though.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 I agree with Edwin in that neither will happen, but if either were to happen, I'd love to see an Edge heel turn. All that will come from him holding the belts with Hogan is being overshadowed by someone who doesn't deserve it...
Guest bcu1979 Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 Edge is not turning heel. They're spending all this time trying to get him over as a top face on Smackdown so they have someone to turn to when Rock leaves in the fall and Hogan finally leaves. Hogan's supposed to have his big match with Vince at SummerSlam and then hopefully leave for a while. A feud with Edge doesn't fit in the time frame. But Jericho joining Team Canada is looking like a real possibility. Storm and Christian are going to win the tag belts at Vengeance so that sets them up as a tag team. Test got pinned clean by Rikishi, despite a 3 on1 advantage, so it doesn't look like he's getting another big single's push. Besides, Test's mic skills are incredibly poor. Jericho is the perfect fit as the charismatic, cocky leader who hides behind his group and picks his spots. I still don't understand why they ended the Canadian Horseman angle before it even got started. I think they dropped the Jericho/Edge match so they could save it for later, since it appears that Jericho has finally re-signed. This way they can have this big chase as Edge has to go through Team Canada to finally get Jericho in the ring. Now, the key is going to be coming up with some huge angle where Jericho and Team Canada destroy and humiliate Edge so badly that everyone wants to see Edge get his revenge.
Guest GenerationNever Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 Jericho is the perfect "Flair" for the group. Maybe when he joins they can officially be called "Team Canada."
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 Actually...with that suggestion...I'm all for it. Edge vs. Test, Christian, Storm, and Jericho, in that order. You could definitely get a few months of great TV out of that.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 You need an American defector. I dunno who though..
Guest Austin3164life Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 William Regal is not an American and he has shown plenty of disdain for the American fans in his current persona. I feel he plays the perfect "elitist" heel who believes he is above everyone else. Team Canada can go down that route, where they believe they are the second coming of pro-wrestling, and no one else on the roster can even contend with their talent. Regal works the mic very well. His wrestling skills are unorthodox, but I wouldn't mind seeing Regal as a sort of heel manager (a la Heenan). That is all.
Guest Austin3164life Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 Regal's on Raw though Yeah, this whole brand extension thing sure sucks, don't it?
Guest LesnarLunatic Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 The American Defector can be........ Kurt Angle Think about it... with Angle, you get heat at him for being a turncoat, you get a world title contender for the Canadian team and Angle/Christian is still a funny duo.
Guest Zero_Cool Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 Heh, Angle comes to the ring with instead of an "A" on his singlet...a giant maple leaf. I defector to Canada...let me think. Farooq? Rikishi? Perhaps a Randy Orton looking to get ahead in the company by any means necessary?
Guest Shaved Bear Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 is Rikishi from America? and Randy Orton isnt from America...he's from Greenland HAHAHAHAHAHAHA get it
Guest midnight_burn Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 They could bring "Primetime" Elix Skipper back to be a member of Team Canada. It won't happen, but i'd like it. As for either Edge or Jericho joining, i can see either option happening, but i'm not really sure, which, if any of them will end up joining. Jericho would seem a logical pick, but turning Edge heel on Hogan could work very well, and i always liked Edge as a heel.
Guest Trivia247 Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 If you think about it Historically Jerichio could easily slip into the Canadian Stable. A Revival of the Hart Foundation without the Hart. Kinda paying Homage to the Hart's Dungeon that both Jericho and Storm trained out of. Plus Storm and Jericho have past tagging history as the Thrillseekers. So Jericho maybe Wouldn't be Surprised to see Edge do a turn on Hogan. Who's next? Val Venis, he isn't doing much lately in his own face turn. Too Bad Chris Benoit is on Raw or he would be a perfect addition... Hell they could Dump Christian and Test and let it be the three Hart Family Dungeon Grads as a group, Hell Hire Mike Lozansky to make it a even 4 member stable.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 You need an American defector. I dunno who though.. Jim Duggan! It worked *so well* in WCW. Ehhh, maybe not...
Guest BionicRedneck Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 It could be Edge. All this "I love Hulk Hogan" crap, may lead to him turning on him. Jericho will probly cost H&E the tag titles and join Team Canada at the PPV Val Venis is the only other one i can think of.
Guest Sean Mooney Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 Am I the only one who thinks putting Christian in Team Canada is a REALLY bad idea. I mean, Christian's strengths are being a smart ass, slimy heel. Not an ultra-serious political anti-American. I mean, this is where characterization comes in. Would Christian's character, who, for the last 2 1/2 years has been the ultimate smart ass/ dickhead, really care about Canadian health care as opposed to America's. Val Venis would be a much better choice since I hear he is very much involved in Canadian politics and I've often heard wresters say that he is often found preaching his politcal views backstage. It would have been cool to have a stable of Jericho, Storm, Test, and Chritian, kinda like they were doing around Royal Rumble time, but the good thing about it was that they were joined together because they were countrymen, not because they hated America and because they think America's health reforms suck. I mean really, what the fuck?! I mean just because your proud to be an American doesn't mean you hate every other county. The reason the Hart Foundation worked in 97, was because the fans already had an excuse to hate Bret Hart because they felt that their #1 babyface had turned on them by first becoming a heel, and then when he started doing his anti- America gimmick, that was just extra iniative to hate him.
Guest nl5xsk1 Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 How about Edge goes heel against Hogan, and joins Team Canada at the PPV ... then Jericho runs in, and JR has one of his conniptions about it being 5-on-1, but instead of joining TC, Jericho goes face and helps Hogan. It would make absolutely no sense in either regard, but a face turn might help Jericho. So Storm/Christian are the tag champs. At the next PPV it'd be Edge and Test and Hogan and Jericho, with Jericho going over Test. The PPV after that would have Storm/Christian against Jericho/Hogan. Maybe then Jericho goes heel, joins TC, and Hogan finishes his career as the All-American feuding with Team Canada. (because evidently the US knows no enemy as hated as our neighbors to the north)
Guest LesnarLunatic Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 what if the unexpected happens. During the match, Hogan turns heel and joins Team Canada. Nah... wouldn't happen.
