Brock vs. RVD

Do you think that if by the end of Vengence if Brock is not... at least a little over that they will use RVD as a safety measure and have him beat Brock for his title shot? Say they do this:

Brock beats RVD and gains the IC title... to no heat.

RAW... RVD challenges Brock for not his old title... but his TITLE SHOT.

RVD wins and Vince and Co use him as a safety measure to keep the interest in the SummerSlam main event (even if RVD loses it would be nice to see him there).

And can then possibly go about building Brock in a better way to some sort of heat because after all... if Brock gets heat it will be good because it will make for more interesting matches etc. Him havin no heat does nothing good for us or wrestling in general because what wrestling needs is someone who will give it that boost back to the mainstream be it RVD or Brock or even John Cena.

Almost anything would be better than Brock right now.

But that being said...RVD can't get anymore title shots and lose if they ever plan on using him in any serious capacity.

Just my opinion...but how many champions can you beat without winning the title until EVERYONE realizes they have no plan for you.

Remember...RVD has beaten Angle, Austin, Taker and Jericho while they were WWE champion...and Rock while he was WCW champion...and never won any of the titles.

The next time he gets a shot...is the time he should win it.

True. I would like to see RVD with the title... but I don't think RVD has been screwed over as much as Jericho. EVEN if he lost to say the Rock at the PPV I think he would come out stronger... assuming they are going to decide that is in going to a hole cut in the glass ceiling. After all... how many champions has Benoit beat?

2 I think.

The Jericho thing is funny...because RVD has pretty much followed his WWE career path perfectly.

But Benoit has yet to hold the title. Not counting the WCW phantom win. I think RVD will be able to take a lot more than Jericho with the way he is being booked currently. Jericho goes from main event heel to mid card heel and bounces inbetween to often. RVD has yet to GET to main event status. I think the damage comes from when you are IN the main event and get the Jericho treatment.

Actually Benoit is an official WCW champion.

The match was never restarted or disallowed...he was just stripped of it the next night.

He is listed as an official champion in PWI and on the title histories site somewhere here on the net.

Its an arbitrary point...but I just think its cool.

But... my point still stands... unless you disagree.. which we know you wouldn't do that. :D

He hasn't had a sustained run as a main eventer that is true.

But the way they tease everyone with it time and again (His Main eventing and beating every main eventer at the end of the alliance angle...the JEricho feud over the title that was scrapped...the false switch with Taker) that people will get turned off soon enough.

And the fact that they use him now to propell a guy to the main event who isn't over or worthy is another step in the direction of bad.

They use the Rock in the same capacity... and unfortunatley the only person that is on RAW that can give someone a rub (outside of UT) IS RVD.

One year into his WWF career, and already RVD can give the rub to guys. I don't know if that's good or bad.

It's good.

It means that the guy is over and that people want to see him.

You can't give a rub otherwise.

The bad part of the equation comes from the lack of the WWE utilizing him.

You know, it's so NOT HARD for them to push RVD to the top. Buy the rights to "Walk" and you're half way there. Wouldn't it be a sight if at WM, you saw 20,000-40,000 fans pumping their fists and singing along to a Pantera song?

I like the song he has now. We need someone else on the RAW side who has some sort of rub... if RVD can give it to Brock than great. Because outside of UT and RVD there is no one else... unless Angle or Rock win the title then you would have UT, RVD and Angle/Rock. That is the problem with the split since Austin left.. all the people who can boost a guy up there is on SmackDown. Even Benoit needs a Angle/HHH/Rock or someone so he can his spot when he was injured. Austin leaving severly hurt him as well as RAW in general. That's why its easier to get the new people involved on Smackdown and give them a bit of a rub since there is more main-event level wrestlers there.

The good thing for RVD was, when he was beating the ME guys, he was still a part of the midcard, so it didn't hurt so much not to come away with a title. If they indeed put RVD in the ME status, then he needs a win to establish himself.
