Guest IB2BLACK Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 Isn't ironic that Vince's big 3 Austin, Rock, and HHH aren't even full-time wrestlers anymore. IMO, these guys will probably never face each other again in the ring.
Guest IB2BLACK Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 Rock leaving in a couple of weeks, and HHH is hurt and I guess will be involved with the NWO, if and when he comes back.
Guest GenerationNever Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 Good, get rid of Rock and Hunter now and we have a new generation.
Guest The Metal Maniac Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 Didn't you get Vince's memo? Never, EVER, mention the New Generation. Ever.
Guest razazteca Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 the only irony that I see in the WWE is that the Rock is making movies while Hogan is giving everbody the rub.
Guest El Psycho Diablo Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 ..if anything, Rock is the one guy worth keeping. He may work movies, but at least he dosen't play "backstage politics"..and he'll SHOW UP for a show he's advertised at.
Guest mach7 Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 ..if anything, Rock is the one guy worth keeping. He may work movies, but at least he dosen't play "backstage politics"..and he'll SHOW UP for a show he's advertised at. Agreed. Say what you want about the Rock, but he's always been professional.
Guest GenerationNever Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 Yes, yes, he's professional and charisma. But that shouldn't keep him on my TV. He actually needs TALENT and not his fast punches, super spit punch, saladshooter, Mark's Elbow, and the Rock Bottom.
Guest Nevermortal Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Why does The Rock get so much shit? He's an average worker and an awesome performer. I wish he was on full time.
Guest El Psycho Diablo Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Honestly? Because he's popular with the marks. *shrugs* If he had no charisma at all, and could throw a load of suplexes, he'd be revered.
Guest SuperTonyJaymz Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Rock is better than most in the WWE. He is the complete total package: Dynamic Interviews, Great Matches, no backstage bullshit, and mainstream appeal.
Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Honestly? Because he's popular with the marks. *shrugs* If he had no charisma at all, and could throw a load of suplexes, he'd be revered. As pathetic as that sounds, it's probably true.
Guest claydude14 Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 i thought this thread was going to be about WCW-ECW-WWF, and how none even exist anymore. imagine if 3 years ago someone told you "in 3 years there won't be any more ECW, no more WCW, and no more WWF" you would have laughed in their face. i know, i know it's WWE now but still, it works in saying WWF isn't here any more.
Guest Prime Time Andrew Doyle Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Why does The Rock get so much shit? He's an average worker and an awesome performer. I wish he was on full time. That is exactley what I was thinking and he puts almost everybody over and you rarley hear of him bitching. I mean, he let Stephanie McMahon pin him
Guest buffybeast Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 The Rock is reportedly going to be in the WWf until September where he will then film his movie, "Helldorado". So I guess it is possible that we will see HHH versus the Rock part 187,858,255,656,325,255.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Eh, I'm just tired of Rock period. Plus, the hypocritical nature of his return promo on RAW was laugh-out-loud funny.
Guest Prince Paul Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 I don't mind Rock, but they shouldn't put the gold on him unless he'll be back for, 6 months or so, ya know? I don't mind watching him, but between all the returns and then leaving again, he should choose Hollywood or wrestling. I fear Rocky will get damaged by the constant "Rocky is injured, or will be suspended" crap.
Guest buffybeast Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Eh, I'm just tired of Rock period. Plus, the hypocritical nature of his return promo on RAW was laugh-out-loud funny. How was his return promo hypocritical? He's never abandoned the company. If anything his mainstream success help the company by giving it more attention and appeal.
Guest TheBlurricane Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 Not really. Right now Wrestling isn't the mainstream "in" thing anymore. It's not frowned upon but it's not the big talk of the town either. Rock's movie didn't do anything to change that. Rock gets crap cause he's said before he's thought of going into acting and leaving wrestling. He's got an attitude that he's over enough that he can half-ass in the ring (just look at his moves....sharpshooter anyone?) He does a movie comes back for two months and goes back for another movie...he's just not reliable anymore. He's got great mic skills but personally a lot of people are tired of his ring work cause he hasn't improved it in years.
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 "He's got great mic skills but personally a lot of people are tired of his ring work cause he hasn't improved it in years. " Yeah, he just stumbles his way into MOTYCs every year right? People talk about X-Pac being stale, well this "Rock can't work in the ring" net crap has him beat by a mile.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 I like the Rock. I wish he were around more. The fact that he is gone for so long, however...does make him useless to me. If and When he wins the title at Vengeance...It will be a sad day...as the SummerSlam Main Event ending will be a definite. Brock Lesnar with no heat winning the World Title before RVD or Edge (I don't use Benoit because he was an official WCW world champion...but if we limit to WWE throw him and Booker in too)
Guest GenerationNever Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 One thing I hate are ALL the shirts he wears. I mean, damn, Vince cares too much about merchandise.
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 Oh yeah, I mean, damn a capitalist corporate businessman for caring about something that can make him and his employees a lot of money!
Guest Brian Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 "Yeah, he just stumbles his way into MOTYCs every year right? People talk about X-Pac being stale, well this "Rock can't work in the ring" net crap has him beat by a mile." My count, as much as I like the rock, he's never had a MOTYC. But that's not worth going into. But Rock's a hypocrite in that he's not there for the hard times, doesn't take the pay cuts, and isn't touring around with them. It's not really fair for him to be saying things like that when he isn't suffering the consequences of the bad times.
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 "My count, as much as I like the rock, he's never had a MOTYC. But that's not worth going into." I would say that depends if you are counting Japan or not. He's had US MOTYCs in 2000 and 2001 IMO.
Guest Brian Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 A true MOTYC still has to be so and so good, like ****1/2 stars. In 2000, nothing was on par or even competing with the Pillman Memorial show match. In 2001 nothing compares with Ki-Dragon. Therefore, they're not candidates.
Guest TheyCallMeMark Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 MOTC is largly opinion... I think in 2001 Rock was in the MOTY's (out of the matches I saw) against Jericho at No Mercy... Then again I didn't see the Ki/Dragon match... It's not a very good argument.
Guest Austin3164life Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 While Austin, Rocky, and Triple H (not to mention Foley) gave us all a hell of a ride in the "Attitude" era, I think pro-wrestling is taking a cyclical turn towards an era where they focus more on the athleticism and "desire" of a superstar rather than that superstar's charisma, or "Attitude". It sounds stupid with the product the WWE is putting out now, but Vince has called up a handful of fresh talent who are all good wrestlers (despite how they're being booked) and they are refraining from using outlandish gimmicks which used to be the norm. Pro-wrestling is starting to lean toward reality, even though it is simulated and planned wrestling. The only thing Vince really needs to do is to avoid the soap-opera aspect of pro-wrestling, and focus on extended feuds and solid wrestling. That is all.
