Guest Insane Bump Machine Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 look at the potential matchups for the undisputed title at summerslam: Brock vs. Rock - Has potential, but you can't really further the feud after SS because Rocky will be shooting a new movie afterwards. Oh, and I don't think that the fans want to see Rocky lose against Brock. Brock vs. Undertaker - a stinker, plain and simple. Brock vs. Kurt Angle - Now this would be interesting. It has a built-in storyline with the athletic background, and Kurt will make Brock look like a million bucks. Brock could also show more of his technical wrestling skills here, he won't be able to do that against Taker and Rocky. Taker is too old and Rocky's matches are mainly brawls. Kurt could maybe even squeeze out a win by cheating here to setup a rematch at the next PPV. Now, there's still the problem that both Kurt and Brock are heels. But look at Brock's match at Vengeance against RVD. They have booked themselves into a corner here, because they can't really job either guy cleanly, and Brock has no use for the IC title because he already has a shot at the World Title. Solution: Let them go all out with great moves, maybe even the Van Terminator or Brock's SSP. Then, after a really good match, a Heyman interference backfires and he costs Brock the match. Brock then dumps Heyman and turns face either right after the match or the next night on RAW. Kurt Angle pins the Undertaker in the main event and we have Kurt vs. Brock at Summerslam. Thoughts?
Guest cabbageboy Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Why does Brock have to main SS at all? I'm still hoping against hope that WWE gets their heads out of their asses and jobs Lesnar to RVD and the #1 contendership as well.
Guest Incandenza Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 If they decide to keep the SS title shot on Brock, a face turn might be the only way the WWE can salvage the Lesnar Experiment, so IBM's plan is a good one.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 I disagree. Angle vs. Brock deserves more time with Angle as the incredbily over face and Brock as the uber-heel... Neither are at that point right now, nor would really become one in time for Summerslam. There definitely is a place for this feud, but not here and not now. Rock vs. Brock wouldn't get Brock anywhere. Wrestlers don't really seem to get a rub off the Rock, even if they end up beating him. Jericho, Angle, Benoit, Booker... They didn't really come out looking better IMO from their feud with the Rock, so neither would Brock. vs. Taker. If played right, Brock could get over by beating a face Taker IMO. Taker has the greatest connection w/ the fans out of the 3. Taker has been in the Wwf the longest, he has faced many challenges, the fans love him; if the Wwf built that up Brocks win over him would really 'make' him. (Of course he would have to win convincingly, not some BS Paul Heyman interferance).
Guest Ripper Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Kurt Angle Brock would not be as good as people think it would be for one reason...Angle is not that good at making people look good. Bear with me hear. Angle will give his offense and pacing in most matchs and that is what makes it good...angle on the offense with the other guy selling and trying combacks as Kurt pulls some hot ass reversals and such. In a match with Brock, it will have to be Kurt doing the selling, and quite frankly, he doesn't do it that well. Sure he'll take a bump, but his offense selling is OK at best. Rock/Brock would be a much better match IMO. I know that it will be debated, but Rock has a better abliliity to make good matches with anyone IMO. Rocks matches with Test, Rhyno, Chrisitan, HHH, Austin, Jerhico, RVD and Beniot come to mind as guys that Angle has had matches with, but none(well maybe the Austin match Angle had) stood up to the excitement or overall enjoyment of the matches Rock had with them. Maybe its his overselling, his willingness to job, or the fact that you can see that he is going 2000% percent on every move(things that Angle also does no doubt except the first one) but his matches are very much enjoyable with anyone, while Angles matches with the uppercard are spectacular but as he goes down the card, the matchs become more blah. Rock will never be able to have a match as a heel as good as Kurt does, but as a face, Rock is the superior wrester. If you turn Brock face, he will(per rules of prowrestling) have to do ALOT of selling and aLOT of comebacks, and that wouldn't fit his character or be very believeable that Brock is being Squashed by KURT. Rock Brock makes far more sense and has a better chance of being something memorable.
Guest GenerationNever Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 The WWE is going with the whole "shades of grey" thing now, so the potential matches have increased. Brock isn't losing his title shot to RVD, get over it.
Guest BionicRedneck Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 defintely not Brock Vs Angle.Heel Vs Heel just doesn't work. And Angle as a face just doesn't work. Brock Vs Rock would be best. Brock could win, and beat the shit out of Rocky and "Injure" him, which gives him an excuse to go of and do a movie. It would probably draw the best too.
Guest converge241 Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 going out on a limb: I think rock will retain @ Summerslam in a surprise and then HHH will defeat him at Smackdown and we'll get a long HHH heel run til WMX9

I think that the fans want to pop for his big moves, but can't because they all hate Heyman. Dropping Heyman and turning face would make sense. Angle vs. Brock deserves more time with Angle as the incredbily over face and Brock as the uber-heel... Neither are at that point right now, nor would really become one in time for Summerslam. There definitely is a place for this feud, but not here and not now. Angle vs. Brock will receive plenty of time if Angle cheats to win at Summerslam. They can coninue the feud at least until the next PPV, maybe even longer. I still think that this would be the best matchup. Oh, and I don't like Angle as a face. PS: We can already look forward to one stinker on the summerslam card in Vince vs. Hogan. I don't want to see another one with Brock/Taker.
Guest Insane Bump Machine Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 defintely not Brock Vs Angle.Heel Vs Heel just doesn't work. And Angle as a face just doesn't work. did you even read my first post?
Guest BionicRedneck Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 yes. but why turn Brock he would suck as a face. He needs Heyman to get his heat and do his talking

You can easily have a face that controls the match and a heel who manages to barely retain his title by cheating. Have you never seen Ric Flair matches?
Guest Insane Bump Machine Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 but why turn Brock he would suck as a face. How do you know that?
Guest GenerationNever Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Damn, would someone listen? The WWE isn't just doing face vs. heel anymore. Anyways, Heyman should just leave and JR can mention he'll be managing Lesnar's career off TV(maybe saying he fears getting the Van Terminator again).
Guest BionicRedneck Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 I think turning Brock already wouldn't do him any good. I don't think his face pop would be that great. He doesn't have good enough interview skills to be a top face.
Guest Insane Bump Machine Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Anyways, Heyman should just leave and JR can mention he'll be managing Lesnar's career off TV(maybe saying he fears getting the Van Terminator again). and then everyone will start whining because we won't get to see Brock kicking Heyman's ass

He doesn't have good enough interview skills to be a top face. Well, how should they book Brock vs RVD at Vengeance then? RVD jobs? Brock jobs? Brock gets another lame win by interference? How?
Guest BionicRedneck Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 I dunno, but Brock needs to be kept a strong heel for his SummerSlam title shot. I think he'll win the IC Title.
Guest TheSmarkzone Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 I'm gonna go out on a limb as well: RVD jobs to Brock after interference by either Guerrero or Benoit, setting up RVD vs. Benoit or Guerrero at SummerSlam for the I.C. title.
Guest Just call me Dan Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Face Brock needs to be done and fast. IBM said it best that no one wants to boo bad ass moves, so that is not a great way to get over a heel. Wowing the crowd does not piss them off, no matter who you execute your attack on. A good heel just pisses the crowd off and really has to work on the crowd more than his arsenal of moves. Seriously, if Brock turned on Heyman at Vengeance and they teased Angle/Lesnar at the PPV as well, the time would be enough. Brock killing Paul, shaking hands with RVD and busting out the SSP in his next match would put him over as a face right there. Angle gets the belt and feels he is superior to Brock because he won the Olympic medal where Brock is just an NCAA champ. The program writes itself, and I feel that if Brock is a face, and is in there with Kurt where technical wrestling is showcased, HE WON'T HAVE TO BE CARRIED. The Monster power move Brock would, and he against Kurt would blow. Monster heel Brock has to be against mega babyface Rock. Technical face Brock could more than likely pull a classic out of his match with a bust ass heel Kurt Angle. Best way to go is still : Taker vs RVD
Guest TheSmarkzone Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 They should add Test and Y2J to the Vengeance main event at the last minute, put the strap on Test, and have Brock vs. Test II at SummerSlam.
Guest BionicRedneck Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guest Just call me Dan Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Where did this influx of rehashed Test jokes come from Smarkzone?

Ok, then you have Kurt and his subpar selling trying to be the one getting tossed around by Brock. You either have a guy that shouldn't be selling to much to the other guy or a guy that isn't that great at selling for the other guy. Someone has to control the match, so who would it be. Rock/Brock is the best bet. ACTUALLY RVD/Taker is the BEST bet, but the most likely choice is Rock/Brock.

And where did all his great matches come from if his selling is subpar? Why is he considered to be one of the best wrestlers in WWE and even the world if his selling is subpar?
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 RVD Vs Taker for the Title makes the most sence in my eyes. But what Do I know?
Guest Ripper Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Maybe because great selling isn't held in as great regard as it is with all of the other things he does so well. The guy is incredible at pacing, has a great offesive moveset that he uses at the right time and such, but his selling is nothing to applaud. When has he displayed good selling. His match with Cena had nothing to do with good selling. It was a bunch of near falls...he never had to sell many moves in that match. I consider him one of the greats in the WWE today, but he isn't that great at selling. I still feel that selling is becomeing a lost art. The reasons guys like SHawn Micaheals and Bret Hart and Rick Flair could pull matches out of the steamiest piles of shit is because they were great at selling their oppenents offense AND getting thier own in at the same time. Angle isn't that good at the selling part yet. Don't get me wrong, I think Kurt is great...but I think he is one of the more overrated performers that have come around in a while due to some things that are still missing in his over all package.
