Guest TheSmarkzone Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 Hopefully, the death of the nWo will lead to a Kliq reunion in 6-8 months when Nash is healthy and Trips is ready to turn heel. I'm not too happy about the nWo mercy killing. For one, Booker T never got his revenge...like him or not. Two, it's just lame when the owner drops an entire stable out of the blue...especially the nWo, which was supposed to be the "lethal poison". At least the WCW/ECW Alliance was killed in a televised angle. And lastly, I think there was still some potential. They could have put Bischoff with them again.
Guest bob_barron Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 Remember 1996 when the nWo were Hall, Nash and Hogan and just kicked a lot of ass. Well look at them now. Booker T wouldnt have gotten a rub going over the nWo. He beats XPac- Woopity shit. Well it wouldn't happen since Pac would tear his quad. HBK wouldn't come back to face him. Nash tore his quad. That leaves Big Show. Mercy-killing the nWo was a great idea- it was just dying a slow and painful, very painful death.
Guest Human Fly Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 Either the Kid gets fired or he goes on a looooooong vacation. When motivated he can still put on a very good match. But it seems to me he's been too concerned with bitching backstage to be any good. I was a big fan of HBK when he could wrestle, but what purpose does he serve now, aside from the appearance here and there? It's time to take out the trash (credit: Duke Droese) and it starts here.
Guest Your Olympic Hero1 Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 Note that Vince failed to mention the "DX Era" tonight. I'm thinking since Eric wants to recruit Trips, we're either going to see a Kliq reunion minus-Hall, or the reformation of D-Generation X (HHH/Shawn/Kid). This'll create Uncle Eric's "security", in place of the nWo.
Guest Austin3164life Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 NWO has NO potential to be a threatening and entertaining stable. It is nWOLD and a rehashes gimmick for a quick fix of ratings. Worst idea ever to bring that name back to wrestling. That is all.
Guest Army Eye Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 NWO has NO potential to be a threatening and entertaining stable. It is nWOLD and a rehashes gimmick for a quick fix of ratings. Worst idea ever to bring that name back to wrestling. That is all. I disagree that it had no potential. The writers killed the angle completely on the first Smackdown they were on, but you can't tell me they didn't have a good RAW before that.
Guest jester Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 Here's my predictions: Kevin Nash just shills a new WWE shampoo all the time, possibly the brand Edge and Booker were fighting about at WMX8. Xpac pulls an Austin. Xpac and his mother are the only ones who care. Ropes are attached to HBK and he is used as a ringpost. Seriously, what can you do with Nash and HBK? Neither can wrestle. If Nash comes back, his style is going to be so sloooooooow to avoid another injury. And really, they can't be used as mouth pieces for other wrestlers, because they're just too big and would completely overshadow them. The only thing I can possibly see is commentary jobs. jester
Guest art_vandelay Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 I disagree also, the entire angle entertained me numerous times over the past 6 months. From their debut, to the Shawn Michaels/Kevin Nash reunion. Okay, I'll admit that 93% of they time they weren't entertaining, but they still had a presence towards the end, the very same presence that could have helped Booker T. Even if Nash was out, Booker could claim he did it because it was him who Nash tripped over. Then, while the nWo are out in the ring cutting some promo, Booker could just come out and beat the shit out of the 3 remaining members with his fists, take an nWo t-shirt, rip it up, and stating that the nWo are over forever. He can even take out the spray paint and paint some shit on the 3 members. Now wouldn't that be a better end than just dropping them out of the blue? Booker would at least be elevated a little bit, if not a whole lot. Of course, this is Waltman and Michaels, so whether it would have taken place had the writers asked for it, is highly doubtful and even unlikely. But the point is, better things could have been done than just dropping them completely.
Guest bob_barron Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 Art- that's a great idea and all but reading about the shit the nWo has been pulling- it would never happen
Guest The Man in Blak Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 Mark my words - the nWo will be back.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 While the dismissal of the nWo was anti-climactic, to say the least, what more could be done? HBK gave two super-kicks, but other than that he's useless save for the first cheap nostalgia pop, and X-Pac, well I still don't see what's wrong with X-Pac, but if he's legit injured he could be out a while too. Not as long as Nash, of course, but long enough to prevent him from doing anything. At least they kept the Big Show/Booker T thing for Vengeance, although depending on who you talk to, most people would consider that a bad thing. As long as Booker comes on top, I don't.
Guest goodhelmet Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 ok, nash is out so there's one down. hhh is out , there's two down. hall is fired, there's three down. without nash next to him, what purpose does hbk serve? he can go back to doing special appearances at ticket launches and special events and never be on my tv again. there's 4 down. x-pac can disappear for good and with the impending roster cuts, i think it might be safe to say he's probably gone. there's 5 down. the clique is over, finished, done, gone, out! See ya. and not a moment too soon but maybe a moment too late. really, while nash and hbk may (or may not) cut a decent (not great mind you) promo, there worth to the company was absolutely nothing. they simply took away from younger, hungrier and more talented wrestlers who have the opportunity to run with the ball. even though my nwo hate is strong, i think the same could be said for taker and flair. they are old! get them off my screen and put them on the novelty slot. at least flair puts people over if nothing else. anyway, here's hoping the clique members fade away into obscurity only serving the purpose of being a trivia question.
Guest El Psycho Diablo Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 It's like Austin. Hopefully gone for good. Bye-bye, nWo!
Guest Raven_Effect01 Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 anyway, here's hoping the clique members fade away into obscurity only serving the purpose of being a trivia question. Let's hope so. Now if only HHH and Steph could break up, that would probably help some of the held-down talent finally and maybe become established main-eventers.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 I'm not too happy about the nWo mercy killing. For one, Booker T never got his revenge...like him or not. Two, it's just lame when the owner drops an entire stable out of the blue...especially the nWo, which was supposed to be the "lethal poison". Yeah, but the thing was, it wasn't. If I'm saved six weeks of Clique promos and Shawn cockteasing a comeback and never delivering, then I'm better off for it. And the crowds seem to agree judging by last week (murmurs and borderline silence mixed with "Get to the point!") We had two shows that could have been 4 or 5 star episodes if it weren't for the NWOld promos contained within.
Guest Prince Paul Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 I agree with Bob Barron. nWo being gone is good. The angle was dragging. Booker wouldn't have gotten any kind of rub from the nWo that he can't get from beating Show at the PPV. No more nWo, no more DX and possibly, no more Clique.
Guest TheSmarkzone Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 Mark my words - the nWo will be back. I dunno if the nWo will be back...but DX might be.
Guest Prince Paul Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 Mark my words - the nWo will be back. I dunno if the nWo will be back...but DX might be. Live and let die.
Guest Downhome Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 Well in theory, even ANGLE wise, Vince did the right thing by killing off the nWo. I mean, he DID bring it into WWE to kill off the product simply because Ric Flair was the owner in the first place. Now, since Vince is 100% owner once again, there really was no need for the nWo anymore... ...gimmick/angle wise.
Guest mach7 Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 Mark my words - the nWo will be back. I dunno if the nWo will be back...but DX might be. Oh god I hope not. I'm so SICK of all these "clique" references on TV. All of the crap about the MSG incident. Who cares? It was over 6 years ago. No one gives a shit if four guys hugged in the ring, and broke character... because EVERYONE, even VINCE Mc-fn-Mahon breaks character these days. I hope that the death of the nWo is a sign that WWE is FINALLY realizing that fans don't give a SHIT about who is friends with who backstage..
Guest mach7 Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 Actually. Scratch that. Fire X-Pac. But HBK.. this guy either needs to swallow his pride and go for "one last run" or just pack his bags and leave all together. I'm sick of HBK coming, and going.. and coming, and going.. and so-on. Either DO something, or go away.
Guest JAxlMorrison Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 Once they turned Hogan face, the Nwo started to gasp it's last breath. Then the firing of Hall totally killed it, I mean face it NOBODY personified NWO more then Scott Hall. I mean sure HBK was good for a nostalgia pop and whatever, but most people don't know the Kliq history, nor do they care. The NWO has been dead for a long time, it just took Vince a while to catch up.
