Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 Several weeks ago, the main event World Title ladder match between The Undertaker and Jeff Hardy was reported to have gotten a very low rating of 3.4. However, errors in the Neilson reporting system were uncovered, and a revised rating for that segment was released. It got a 4.2 and 4.4 in the overrun, making it the highest rated segment of that Raw, which made the segment a success rather than a failure. Credit: Wrestling Observer Newsletter I'm sure Vince is dusting off the ladders as we speak.
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 YaY! Maybe next week we'll get a Hardcore Ladder Match between Bradshaw & Big Show.
Guest Anglesault Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 I hope this doesn't make Vince push Hardy.
Guest Downhome Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 YaY! Maybe next week we'll get a Hardcore Ladder Match between Bradshaw & Big Show. That would actually interest me. I mean, can you just imgine how funny that could be?
Guest The Superstar Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 I hope this doesn't make Vince push Hardy. You mean they aren't already? They sure did protect him last night in that 6-man...so all 2 MALE Jeff Hardy fans can say "Wow...BENOIT calls himself the best but he has to cheat to beat Jeff Hardy~!"
Guest Just call me Dan Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 Big Show climbing the ladder would be stealing a spot from the Jeff Jarrett/Chris Benoit US Title Ladder match from a Nitro when Benoit's side of the ladder had the rungs just collapse. There is no way that ladder would hold him, especially the huge one. Showsault! Showsault! Showsault!
Guest AM The Kid Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 I bet you Vince is really relieved.
Guest Prince Paul Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 Vince will be pushing Hardy even more now...either that, or keeping the belt on Taker.
Guest DrEvil Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 YaY! Maybe next week we'll get a Hardcore Ladder Match between Bradshaw & Big Show. That would actually interest me. I mean, can you just imgine how funny that could be? I try to like Bradshaw and TBS, but I can't, they just suck too much. I suppose seeing the ladder fall apart under the weight of TBS would be good for a laugh, but getting there would be too painful. A ladder match between these two would do to ladder matches what Bossman-Taker did to Hell in a Cell.
Guest converge241 Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 In regards to the Hardy push...if Matt is seen as "better" in their eyes...why isnt he getting the push?
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 In regards to the Hardy push...if Matt is seen as "better" in their eyes...why isnt he getting the push? He's main eventing Heat, that's a major push, or not.
Guest converge241 Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 MATT HARDY IS MAIN EVENTING RAW??? i must have missed that??
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 MATT HARDY IS MAIN EVENTING RAW??? i must have missed that?? Whoops, I meant Heat, post has been edited.
Guest converge241 Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 LoL i kinda knew that might be what you were going for.
Guest Prince Paul Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 In regards to the Hardy push...if Matt is seen as "better" in their eyes...why isnt he getting the push? I guess they think Jeff's more marketable. He's got that whole, "I look like I'm 18 and not sure if I'm gay or not" look going for him.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 I don't mind either Hardy getting pushed, although I think Matt is a better long-term investment as he's less likely to kill himself. Simple thing is, like them or not the Hardys are NOT the same 4 guys that seem to rotate at the top.
Guest dreamer420 Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 YaY! Maybe next week we'll get a Hardcore Ladder Match between Bradshaw & Big Show. That would actually interest me. I mean, can you just imgine how funny that could be? hopefully funnier than their basketball game
Guest godthedog Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 In regards to the Hardy push...if Matt is seen as "better" in their eyes...why isnt he getting the push? I guess they think Jeff's more marketable. He's got that whole, "I look like I'm 18 and not sure if I'm gay or not" look going for him. i consider it more of an "i'm a hip raver who listens to paul van dyke and dj digweed, and ecstasy is the only reason i can get through any of my matches cause when the adrenaline kicks in it feels reeeeeally good" look.
Guest the pinjockey Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 I have no problem with them semi-pushing Jeff. he only has a couple of years left IMO before he hurts himself or burns out completely so with the way the tag division is worthless milk him while you can. Then when he is gone push Matt who by that time can develop mic skills without being in his brothers shadow of doing ridiculously dangerous moves.
Guest JAxlMorrison Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 See I missed that match, but I can see why it did the rating that it did. The WWE actually BUILT UP the match and made it seem like Jeff had a chance to win the belt. A lot of wrestling fans will always support the underdog, and like it or not a lot of casual fans probably WANTED to see Jeff win the belt. I know I did, just for something different.
Guest TheDames7 Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 The only thing that rating proves to me is that with the right promotion and build up, they CAN get their ratings back up. Let's face it, not too many people thought that Jeff Hardy was going to win the title. Dammit, if WWE could promote their PPV matches as good as they promoted this match, their buyrates would increase too. All it takes is some long term planning. Dames
Guest Anglesault Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 nd like it or not a lot of casual fans probably WANTED to see Jeff win the belt. I know I did, just for something different. RVD winning the title is different Jeff Hardy winning the title is stupid
Guest M Nyland Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 No...see...Jeff has the "Seizure Me Elmo" look going...then it turns into "Gay Ecstasy Bomb" when he hits the ring and by the end he is in "multi-colored jobber" mode... Matt has the "I'm Jeff's closer-to-normal brother" look...
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 Matt definitely looks like a human being, which is more than you can say for Jeff. However, Jeff may be many things, but he's not boring, give him that much. And like Pinjockey says, Jeff won't even be alive in 5 years, so push his ass now.
Guest Ripper Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 I think some people will eventually have to admitt that Jeff Hardy is over with more than the "15 year old girl) demo that everyone thinks it is. Angle was hyped as actually having a chance against Taker and it didn't draw close to that quarterly rating. Jeff IS over people.
Guest Nezbyte Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 Push him then. Push people who are over. Jeff is over. RVD is over. Angle is over. Push them.
Guest Ripper Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 Or have them wrestle in curtain jerkin tag matches that mean nothing in the long run... one of the two...
Guest Nezbyte Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 Or have them wrestle in curtain jerkin tag matches that mean nothing in the long run... one of the two... Ripper knows WWE logic! Woo~!
