I'm going to be offline until just before Eight...but I think I'll try my hand at play by play (or at least segment reporting) during the show tonight.

sigh...this is going to be a pain in the arse.

But I live to serve!!!!!!

Shall you be doing it real time in a chat room on AOL or the such? You know, that would be REALLY handy for all of us without the means to order. :):):)

"A former NWA World Heavyweight Champion is backstage in Nashville and is expected to make a major impact on tonight's NWA-TNA: Total Nonstop Action. This former champion wants another chance at the title and while he's not scheduled to compete tonight, you never know what might end up happening."

nwatna.com

This must be what Russo was talking about. I wonder who it is. Sting? Luger?(hopefully not him) Severn?(would make sense, since he was stripped of the title and never lost it)

Well, after three hours from hell, I hath ordered NWA-TNA week five...

I'll do a wrap up after the show... (while taping my free replay to sell to someone).

- Mike Van Siclen.

EDIT: Oh, and my money's on the champ being Corino.

My picks are Dusty Rhodes, Terry Funk, or...

...Dan "The Beast" Severn. Do you recall his history with Ken Shamrock, both in WWE and UFC? Call my crazy, but HE is my personal pick! After all, he WAS the NWA Heavyweight Champion for over four years from February 24, 1995 to March 14, 1999. Then just THIS YEAR he won the title on March 9, 2002.

Yes, call me crazy indeed, but he is MY pick, what about you? :):):)

Steve Corino is already on their roster.

Wait a minute. Was Terry Funk NWA champion? There have been people getting tied up and being spraypainted with the letters FU for the last couple of ppvs.

Steve Corino's also been used all of once, plus it doesn't say that it's an "NWA Champion that has never appeared before". I agree, Severn is probably it, but Corino is just as likely.

Terry Funk has been NWA World Heavyweight Champion one time, winning it on December 10, 1975 by defeating Jack Brisco and holding it all the way to February 6, 1977 when he dropped it to Harley Race. So yes, Terry Funk is a VERY good pick, and it would be very interesting to say the least, lol. Terry Funk is still one of my picks, but I still have my money on Severn.

It still wouldn't make sense to me, I mean, he's listed on the NWA-TNA site as on the roster. It would make almost no sense making a big deal suprise out of it being him.

Ooh...now the signs point to Terry Funk with that FU angle I keep forgetting about.

And I couldn't handle doing it in the chat...sorry.

But I'll try to update the thread as often as possible.

Corino needs to come back...

I assume he's got other booking commitments somewhere right now...but I hope he can fit Tennessee into his Wednesday Night plans soon.

I predict we see Terry Funk (although I hope for Corino or Severn) and JAsmin go topless.

I am firmly against the latter idea.

As I doubt that is the kind of content a TV station is looking to add to their programming...

But Russo is in the house...so I bet on nudity.

Let's just hope she doesn't give birth to a hand.

Alright...It's almost go time.

I'm going to use these last few free minutes to point out the pluses attached to the former NWA champion wanting a title shot deal:

Steve Corino: My personal hero of sorts...I love the guy in a wrestling way...ahem...the good would be that it would mean Corino will become an active member of the TNA family..to the delight of...well...me

Terry Funk: The FU messages for the last few weeks could point to Terry Funk. I have mixed feelings on this the same way I do about Flair still wrestling. A Terry Funk/Ken Shamrock match would be a train wreck...wouldn't it?

Dan Severn: Makes the most sense. Severn was stripped of the title because he couldn't defend it at the first show...and now his old UFC foe holds it. The kind of match that would get some internet attention at least.

Dusty Rhodes: This one would make the most internet news...as Rhodes visited the WWE this week. But a Rhodes vs. Shamrock match? I think not.

But Rhodes would make internet news.

I hope for Corino...I'd like Severn...I beleive it's Funk...Rhodes would probably do the most short term good in creating a buzz.

If that makes sense.

They begin by recapping the JJ rampages of the last couple weeks.

That last chair shot to Shamrock is sick.

Goldylocks interviews Shamrock earlier this week...and he's pissed. Aggressive Shamrock is a good thing unless he gets in the ring and doesn't carry it over.

Jarrett and Hall are brawling in the back.

Hall looks sober.

Good news for all.

Not as good as the Lynn/Styles brawl last week.

I am reminded of the Goldust beatdown that Hall laid on during an old Raw.

JJ was kicked out of the arena and they said he forfeited his match.

MAn...for a heel...JJ sure gets screwed alot.

Malice and the rest of the new church (Jim Mitchell, Slash and Tempest (Devon Storm)) come out.

I still can't beleive that's the Wall...I think it's a conspiracy.

Mitchell offers an open challenge.

Lights go out.

I bet its Sabu...he is a former NWA champion.

I was right...at least he can do a ladder match.

And we're off.

Sabu vs. Malice

They aren't reffering to Sabu as a former NWA champion...but I'd figure that this was him

Sabu is pretty over with the crowd

They are obviously going for the brutal style match I figured they would with JJ...

They annonce the winner will face Shamrock next week.

Malice blew a spot that I don't think he even considered what he was doing.

That's odd...Sabu's opponent blows spots...ah...irony.

Lots of ECW chants.

Sabu is doing his usual spots.

and now he gets the table.

I wonder if he knows its a ladder match

Well...he does now...as he was snakeeyesed into the ladder propped up at ringside...twice.

And Sabu is busted open.

Oh man...Malice picks up Sabu and the ladder and powerslams them both onto the mat.

That was a neat spot.

Some TNA chants now

Malice needs to work on his timing

Powerbomb on Sabu...Malice is almost as tall as the ladder.

Overhead Belly to Belly on Sabu into the ladder.

Another neat spot.

Sabu does a nice dropkick into the ladder.

Tenay is really playing up the importance of the NWA title...and with so many people gunning for Shamrock...they are doing good with that.

Sick chair shot to MAlice's head as Sabu throws the chair Hard.

Sabu gets on to the top rope and drives the ladder into MAlice.

Arabian facebuster.

Sabu is looking pretty ok compared to what I'm accustomed to.

Malice does a better spinebuster while Sabu tries to hit him with the chair.

Sabu dumps Malice out of the ring through a table.

Malice takes it feet first...which probably hurt more looking at the replay.

Sabu gets the contract and wins.

Decent finish...the crowd was pretty into it.

The disciples attack Sabu who makes a breif comeback...but they take control.

The disciples set up a table at ringside and Malice drags Sabu out

Oh man...MAlice chokeslams Sabu from the apron through the table.

Good spot.

Sabu vs. Shamrock next week.

JJ is still in the back...he will not be allowed into the arena.

Seriously...JJ got screwed.

AJ STyles makes his way to the ring.

cruisers getting character development?

Say it isn't so...

He calls out Jerry Lynn...and Lynn comes out.

He looks pissed.

I love this angle.

Lynn is so cool.

Lynn is pretty good on the mic.

He is calling Styles on the fact that Lynn is a 14 year vet and Styles is only 3 years into the business.

Imagine HHH cutting a shoot promo...this is what I bet his pep talk sounded like.

Lynn is really good here...he tells Styles to pay his dues.

He points out that Lynn LET him be his tag partner (they are current tag champs)

Lynn tells Styles that from now on he has to follow his lead...and respect him

So...Styles attacks Lynn...ooh...Styles Clash.

Styles and Lynn get character development and take their feud to another level.

They recap Jasmin St. Claire last week.

Goldylocks goes in to the ladies room to interview Jasmin.

But Francine attacks.

And lets hope that's as close as they get to a match...
