Guest RenegadeX28 Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 Lately, Eric has been bringing that up. He always says that if (insert wrestler here) was at Nitro, I would have beat RAW, or he says that Nitro beat RAW most of the time. Now, Eric has been making that a BIG DEAL. Could this be the clue that the reason he is in the WWE is to revive Nitro? Hey, he is signing most of the best talent to RAW, so maybe he wants the best so he can make RAW into Nitro! I don't know if this has been mentioned, but RAW turning into Nitro would be a great idea!
Guest Nezbyte Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 He mentions it because it's his character basis in the WWE.
Guest Downhome Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 Call me an outsider in terms of being a Smark, but I sure as hell would mark out like a 12 year old bitch if on the 500th episode of RAW (which Vince recently pointed out is happening soon right before he annouced this GM stuff) Eric came out and said that to celebrate the 500th episode, he was turnning it into Nitro (complete with new annoucers, set, everything), just to finally win the ratings war. I'm sorry, but I do believe I would mark out unlike ever before.
Guest M Nyland Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 yeah...I would probably mark out like crazy too... hear the old music...maybe the old style TNT video with WWE vids instead of WCW ones... I would probably tear my quad again
Guest Downhome Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 People say it would be the worst thing to do, but I crave for that to return in some way. Have Eric "sign" all of those Cruiserweights from SD, etc... Yes, it may be a "false" sense of WCW and Nitro, but it would please me greatly. Now that I think about it... ...there are MANY WCW fans that no longer watch, perhaps their bringing back WCW/Nitro/or something would bring some of those guys back into the fold. Back where there was WWF AND WCW we had about 10 million fans watching this sport, it would be pretty sweet if we could regain a few of those guys. :) I can think of about at least twenty people that I know personally that would watch a rebirth of a Nitro ran by Eric Bishoff, and I'm sure there are many more out there like those that I know here.
Guest Downhome Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 I would probably tear my quad again By the way, you have the mosy injury prone quad I've ever known of. Are you sure you aren't a long lost member of the Clique (sp?)?
Guest M Nyland Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 *poses....spits Lucy* (courtesy of Kingpk) Maybe.....but I hope not
Guest Just call me Dan Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 If they went with this they would first need to split the undisputed title, stop mentioning the other product at all on each show and seriously have a split, not a separation that makes it a little harder for certain guys to face eachother.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 ...there are MANY WCW fans that no longer watch, perhaps their bringing back WCW/Nitro/or something would bring some of those guys back into the fold. 2.5 million really isn't that big a deal in terms of worldwide audience. And to be honest, the changes are so drastic. I'd still mark out like crazy though.
Guest razazteca Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 I would also mark out for a return of Nitro just as long that Tony Schiavonie and Mark Madden DO NOT appear as the new announcers.
Guest The Electrifyer Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 I do NOT want to see Raw turn into Nitro. Raw has such a great legacy, its its' 500th episode soon and I don't want to see that be its last episode. In my opinion, the WWE should have kept the WCW name and re-named Smackdown to WCW Thursday Night Smackdown and have Eric be the GM for that. That way, the WCW name would still be alive and have a WWE show and a WCW show would make competition more realistic.

Guest mach7 Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 I don't know if this has been mentioned, but RAW turning into Nitro would be a great idea! Yeah because changing the name of the show (especially to that of one that tanked and was cancelled) is REALLY gonna increase viewership. Right. Sure. Get real.
Guest humongous2002 Posted July 20, 2002 Report Posted July 20, 2002 Lets see RAW turns into Nitro, I turn the channels ....mmmm......I see a connection there.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted July 20, 2002 Report Posted July 20, 2002 Raw has such a great legacy Hey, remember when Stephanie was kidnapped by the Undertaker? That was RAW GOLD! Oh, what about when Big Bossman wrote that poem for the Big Show? Oh yeah, what about that incredible segment between Rocky and the Booker midget? That Hogan motorcycle bit was ONLY ON RAW!!! What about when Jericho won the Championship to have it reversed? Remember the RVD Dusty finish? You could fill a library with records of all the hotshotted angles and title changes that Raw has witnessed, too. Such a thing can't go to waste. Yes, it would be such a waste for WWE to throw away a legacy that they've worked so hard to keep prestigious in recent years.

Yeah because changing the name of the show (especially to that of one that tanked and was cancelled) is REALLY gonna increase viewership. Right. Sure. Get real. i think it would get people talking. it would be WCW Nitro with a WWF feel to it. Bischoff would raid Smackdown! (crusierweights, storm, etc) and several RAW wrestlers would defect to Smackdown! to even the odds. That, and have seperate PPV's starting with WCW Resurrection featuring: For the Undisputed Title: Rock vs. Goldberg Vince's only chance to save RAW: Bischoff vs. Vince WCW Intercontinental Title: RVD vs. Lance Storm and so forth. throw in Stiner, and you could have a card that could do massive buyrates and an interpromotional angle to boot!

Guest FeArHaVoC Posted July 20, 2002 Report Posted July 20, 2002 It wouldn't make sence Storyline wise. Bischoff is GM, but Vince is still Owner. Why would he let that happen? Also, Shane (In Storylines still) is WcW Owner. He owns the Nitro name.
Guest hockeytown9321 Posted July 20, 2002 Report Posted July 20, 2002 I don't know what Vince was thinking, but the 500th episode is about 7 months away, so the direction of the company will have changed about 7 times by the time we get there.
Guest The Mountie Posted July 20, 2002 Report Posted July 20, 2002 People are worrying about Raw's legacy, but what about the WWF's legacy? What about the legacies of WCW and ECW that McMahon has destroyed. What about Bret Hart's legacy? DDP's? Stone Cold Steve Austin's? They don't care much for legacies anymore at Titan Towers. Besides, if Nitro was reborn (and it would be awesome) HHH would probably go and airbrush himself into the old telecasts, with his head on Goldberg's shoulders...
Guest papacita Posted July 20, 2002 Report Posted July 20, 2002 Well, I made a promise to myself and my friends back in 98 that I would never watch another episode of Nitro again, and I stand by that. So if Nitro comes back, I'm done.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted July 20, 2002 Report Posted July 20, 2002 It wouldn't make sence Storyline wise. Bischoff is GM, but Vince is still Owner. Why would he let that happen? Also, Shane (In Storylines still) is WcW Owner. He owns the Nitro name. Because Vince has given Bischoff "his full trust" or whatever. Also, Shane sold everything to Flair, which is how Flair became 50% owner. Then Flair lost it to Vince, so it all comes around.
