The title says it all.If he did come back for one more match, who should his opponent be?

I'll reply later after I hear some opinions.

Vince Mcmahon. Just because you know Bret would stiff the fuck out of him, then nearly snap him in half with the sharpshooter. Oh what a glorious day it would be.

I only see two possible answers really.. Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels

I see him coming back, but I don't see him wrestling, purely out of health reasons.

I never want to see him wrestle again, no matter who it was against. It would be sad, and unless you were in Canada, I doubt anyone would really give a crap about him.

I loved Bret in the WWF, but that's an era I'm more than willing to let go. His legacy should just stay where it is, because I don't think there's any way he could ever redeem himself.

That being said, if he ever showed up on Raw I would shit my fucking knickers.

Well...let's see:

Bret is currently in Calgary trying to regain movement of the left side of his body so...NO!

No more matches for Bret...he doesn't need to put himself in jeopardy for a quick ratings boost (or not...nothing seems to be working anymore...Invasion, Flair, nWo, Bischoff...so as much as I would mark out, others wouldn't give a crap about Bret coming back unless it's Canada~!)

Never say never in wrestling, so if he ever appears on WWE TV again, I'll mark out like nuts!!! However, I don't think he'll wrestle and nor do I want him to...to me and the rest of his loyal fans (look on this board...there's plenty!) he'll always be the best and has nothing left to prove

Hitman Jebus - finally replying to a thread like a mark and not some cynical smark :D Get well, Bret!

About the same chance as Hayabusa flying again. Poor Eiji :(

There just isn't a Role for Bret Hart that doesn't involve wrestling or Mic Work. Even being wheeled around in a wheelchair wouldn't get much because Freddy Blassy does ever so often, as least he can stand up and Cut a Old man Shoot for the company.

Bret is hero of mine and i dont want to see him sell himself out and let Vince turn all that has happened into a story line.

I dont think he would do it just to pop a rating and job to Vince.

Well, considering that's impossible, and knowing the way he'd be treated--no. There would be a chance of it if that fucking greenhorn Goldberg didn't end his career.

Oh...funny I hear all this talk about WWE wanting to sign Goldberg. Fuckers. Well, I guess there's the chance he kicks HHH in the fucking head, then both his career and HHH's will be fucked. It's not like they don't have a clue it could happen...

It would be nice to see him back for one more match even though it would be probably make good money for the company even though the fans are tired of seeing old superstars and want to see the real next big thing(not you Brockberg), but a feud with Hart and Vince if it's done right would be a smarks dream come true, also throw HBK into the mix.

For just once match, Vince.

God, I'd mark out like a little pansy if he gave him the ringpost figure four.

There is no doubt in my mind that if Bret came back for one match, his opponent should be.....Shawn Stasiak!!

Well, sadly I know that Bret's in-ring career is over but if he was ever to have one last match it would be the best both men retirement matches. The New Generation in the ring for one final match, a personal fued and the two men who are consitered two of the greatest wrestlers of all time in one last match- Bret Hart vs. Shawn Micheals.

Well, seeing as that my fantasy would require Austin to be around for that final blowoff match, so I think I'll just scrap that one.

BUT, since Bret is currently sitting in a hospital trying to regain movement on the left side of his body, I just wouldn't want to see him back in the ring ever again...

Fuckin' Goldturd...

As much as I love Bret Hart. He blew his last real chance at fame and to redeem himself by not showing up at WM this year. You all heard the ovation Hogan got, just imagine if Bret Hart showed up?

i, for one, am GLAD bret didn't guest ref at wrestlemania. it would've been a shit deal (the rights to his matches, which vince said he would get anyway 3 years ago), and he would have to turn heel in his own backyard or raise the hand of one of the men who screwed him. thank god he still has his pride, i can sleep well at night knowing vince hasn't won EVERYTHING.

EDIT: and how exactly did he blow it? if he were to make a surprise appearance at wrestlemania 23, do you think he'd somehow not get as big a reaction? i know it was canada & all, but i can't think of any arena that WOULDN'T come unglued at the sight of bret hart.

You don't think they would have had him referee Austin/Hall? Would have made much more sense IMO. Of course, that would have assumed Austin would let that match be anything more than a one-sided shitfest.

thank god he still has his pride

Queue footage of Bret and the TV psychic here.

Bret: "LOOK!! IT'S ME!! *whine*"

Bret's current physical condition makes this a moot point.

But hey, we're smarks, where would we be without our power/tendency to go "what if they booked this instead" once in a while?

Okay, if Bret Hart came back for one last match, there's only a select few money opponents.

Hulk Hogan: 1st 5 Timer vs 2nd 5 Timer, and The Hero of the 80's vs The Hero of The 90's (first half anyway).

Shawn Michaels: Such a great (and real) personal grudge and the best "workrate world champions" of the WWE/F's history.

Steve Austin: Why not rekindle the feud that made Austin* (and hence set up the WWF's renaissaince). The personal hatred was so deep and passionate, and plus Austin was such a damn good wrestler before the injuries, and still is when he's "up" for the match. I think he'd be "up" for another match with Bret.

Vince McMahon: Oh come on, I don't REALLY need to explain this one, do I?

Unfortunately, even if Bret recovers fully and came back as good as he ever was, most of these matches can't go down:

Austin has walked away from the company and has, at present, no future in the WWE {though never say never in this wacky business}.

Shawn Michaels would almost assuredly NOT come back out of retirement for one match if that one match was to be a loss to Hart. Conversely, I can't see Bret Hart coming back for one more match if said match were a loss to Michaels.

Hogan could happen, and "the new Hogan" seems as though he would be receptive to jobbing to Hart (yay!). However, let us remember that all Hogan's classic matches are classics for what they symbolize, and not for the reasons that so many of us damn near jizz on ourselves at the mention of Flair vs Steamboat. Hogan vs Hart would be great in terms of symbolism, nostalgia, and stuff like that, but the actual match would probably not look so good.

Vince: Again, I see no way that Hart comes back for this match unless he gets to win it, of course by Sharpshooter submission. I have a hard enough time seeing Vince job -- especially cleanly -- even to someone who's going to be around tommorrow and needs to be put over (rival owner Ric Flair, the most recent example). I suspect that just like with WCW in general, Vince would be looking to buy out an old rival only to put himself over it to "prove once and for all" that his is the biggest set of genitals in wrestling, or whatever. [Russo could have a fucking field day with this match, booking one of his "shoot works" where it looks like each man is departing from script to "Montreal" the other.] Again, like with Michaels, I can't see either man agreeing to lose to the other, and even if Vince did agree to lose, what makes anyone -- especially Bret -- believe that's the real plan?

Bret does not need to come back. It seems that he does not want to come back. I, as a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE Bret Hart mark from now till forever, would rather see him stick to his guns rather than "sell out" or "tarnish his legacy" or whatever. But if he did come back, damn right I'd mark the hell out.

Followed up with Bret vs Giant Gonzales, which actually managed to break the star ratings and become a 6-star match.
