Guest Jobber of the Week Posted July 21, 2002 Report Posted July 21, 2002 A friend in Toronto informed me of a WWE Niagra Falls ad on TV while he was watching AfterBurn. In case you forgot, this was an amusement park that was announced in a press release right before WrestleMania. I'm a self-professed theme park nut, although I haven't heard much about the park since the PR (most of my interest revolves around the west coast Cali stuff, like Magic Mountain & Disneyland & Universal Hollywood.) My question is, knowing how much a park can cost in operation (rides), repair (everything), staffing (somebody's got to run that SmackDown Burgers stand and the merch shop and so on), security (especially in this terrorism-cautious age), and so on.... WHY THE HELL HAVEN'T THEY SCRAPPED THIS THING!? I mean, honestly. Yes, Scorpion King made WWE money. Hell, they actually made MORE MONEY by having Rocky out there acting instead of wrestling. But now, with this week's firings and the ties cut with HWA, business is taking an effect on the financials, obviously. This is an extremely expensive and very risky product. Why did they not stop? Why have they not stopped already? Jesus, by the time Judgment Day rolled around it was obvious things were on the downside. This won't save the company. If anything, it will cost them more. A development territory is dropped while an amusement park is built. All appearantly to please the stockholders who know nothing about wrestling and think that coasters with names like "The Piledriver" and "The Glass Ceiling" and "Eazy-E's Sit & Spin" will keep the company alive. *sigh* Will the last person at Titan Towers please turn off the lights?
Guest redbaron51 Posted July 21, 2002 Report Posted July 21, 2002 I live 30 minutes from Niagara Falls, and trust me putting that there will definitly give WWE a profit since Niagara Falls is where many people from all over Canada, USA and the World go to just to see the falls itself. I bet once the first year is done...more likely they will get a profit. It'll be expensive, but all theme parks are expensive. and especially how low our Canadian dollar is, you'll see tons of Americans coming over for the falls, the casino and now WWE Theme park
Guest Narcoleptic Jumper Posted July 22, 2002 Report Posted July 22, 2002 Personally, I would mark out if there was a rollercoaster called 'The Glass Ceiling'. Triple H could be the ride operator!

Guest DrEvil Posted July 22, 2002 Report Posted July 22, 2002 With the tourist traffic that the Falls gets on it's own, a theme park could survive. Millions of people go to the area every year just for this kind of stuff. It's when you build a multi-billion dollar park in a place where theres no market for it that the losses mount. There's a strong customer base so it just needs the right marketing to attract them in. Of course, we're gonna get The Pedigree and The F5 rammed down our throats even though they're boring and predictable rides. The LDOD and The Last Ride will scare the shit out of you but only because they're broken down and should have been out of commision years ago. The staff will be editing out the lines to get into The Five Star and The Breakdown so that the people at home don't know their popular.
Guest -Cutthroat- Posted July 22, 2002 Report Posted July 22, 2002 AND next year The Rock is going bye-bye!
Guest chirs3 Posted July 22, 2002 Report Posted July 22, 2002 I imagine "The Glass Ceiling" would be like those Tower of Terror rides. You know, you go up slowly, and once you reach the top you rocket down at uncharted speeds.
