Starting over with Jericho.....

I wonder if it would work if WWE started over with Jericho? Drop him back down to the mid-card and build him from there. Don't throw him into the main events or make him look like a main eventer. If they kinda started over with him then maybe he'd get more over when he actually makes it to the main event?

What does everyone think?

He's jobbing in opening matches to the Prototype, so I don't really know how you can say "drop to the midcard," because that would assume that he's being recognized as a main eventer now. However, I do agree he needs rebuilding.

A lot of people criticized Jericho as a face, but frankly I think that to get another credible shot at main eventing, he'd need to be an underdog face, like he was when he "won" the title from HHH. Realistically? I think he'll never rise above the midcard as long as HHH has clout.

He needs time off in a bad way. What his character doesn't need right now is to get thrown into Team Canada and lose to Edge over and over.

I agree with turning him Face. I like him better as a heel, but he hasn't been allowed to play the type of heel that he is best suited for. He hasn't won a meaningful match since February. Add on top of that the fact that he just got owned in a mini-feud with Cena. I believe his heel character has been damaged beyond repair.

Right. Even though he got stale as a face in WWE, it's about the only solution that could help take him a step closer to re-building his main-event credibility. I also think WWE hasn't let him play the type of heel he was in WCW, which is another reason a face turn could work. The unfortunate thing is either way, HHH is still screwing Jericho over as far as ever getting over mid-card goes as long as HHH is in backstage power. Coincidently, don't I remember when all of us were calling for a Jericho heel turn, and then this one guy at the old board(EZboard) said something along the lines of:"WWE would take everything out of Jericho that made him great and instead of being a stale face, he'd become a terrible heel in WWE due to some of the good stuff that made him a good heel in the first place being taken out of him ala Steve Austin and The Dudley Boyz. Some of us will then be calling for a Jericho face turn."? Well, unfortunately, it looks like it's happened.

Now where i agree that Jericho losing to Cena at the pay per view was the absolute wrong thing to do sending him after the European title or some other mid card belt is silly as well

I see throwing him into Team Canada 2.0 as a chace for a new start for him you have to consider him the Leader of the group he now has 3 other people that if nothing else will beat the shit out of people for him now in matches that would make him look weak and i'm sure that they will do that but i'm talking about say on Smackdown have Team Canada 2.0 just beat the hell out of Cena to end that fued have him move on to Edge who most consider a high midcarder he can have good matches with Edge and go over him in the end then put him back in the Main event against probably HHH by then after he beats Brock for the belt the day after Summerslam

..I just don't see Jericho as world championship material anymore. *shrugs* I don't know why.

He may just be one of those guys that 'never quite makes it'.

If DX really had gotten back together, and HHH and HBK would allow it...

how funny would it be for Jericho and, say, Christian, to come to the ring dressed like 20 blonde wrestlers from 1998 and start making dick jokes?

HHH

Steph

Cena Job

Being off PPV the month after he lost the title

Those might be the reasons, but hey, I'm not going to put words into your mouth. <_<

Turn him face and have him slander the shit out of people. He'll be over in a month.

Jericho is fucked. Period, no argument, nothing. He can't be pushed again ever at this point. Not only are there guys conspiring against him but also there are RVD and Edge amongst others that are on the totem pole ahead of him.

Boy, it's too bad that Jericho didn't come to these boards before he re-signed. Apparently, he just made the biggest mistake of his life. His career is over. How can you all just give up on Jericho and let HHH win?

Think about this: Benoit jobs to Buh Buh on PPV and everybody cries and cries and cries. On RAW, Benoit is used more properly - separating from Buh Buh, making Booker tap and heading into a (long, if we're lucky)program with RVD.

Jericho jobs to Cena on PPV and everybody cries and cries and cries. (Hopefully) On Smackdown!, Jericho is used more properly - separating from Cena, making Edge tap, and heading into a (long, if we're lucky) program with Edge/Candian Mafia.

At least wait for the spoilers. Business looks to be picking up this week.

Well, Benoit was just fucking around with the Duds till something came up (RVD). Jericho has been systematically made to look like a jobber since April. I have little doubt that RVD will come out on top against Benoit, since he seems the more marketable in terms of putting in the main event.

Well, for starters...

Not one of his four finishers are over in the slightest, partially because they haven't really been pushed very well and partially because they aren't very good to begin with.

He doesn't really seem to have a wide range in-ring character wise. His moves always seem to have the same amount of fire behind them regardless if he's facing Mark Henry in a throw away or The Rock in a blood feud. Its all very paint-by-numbers.

He's virtually always playing underdog, and underdog heels just aren't that much fun.

I honestly feel that his uncertain contract situation had just as much to do with burying Jericho as HHH/Steph bias did.

From a business standpoint, why build him up as a true main event superstar if their is chance (no matter how small) that he could walk and take his talent to some upstart?

And I don't think marketability determines who comes out on top. If so then RVD would be on the KOTR fast track and not Brock.

I don't understand why people say that Jericho made such a mistake in re-signing. Yes, he isn't being pushed, but where else is he going to go? NWA? They'll be out of business in two months? Japan? He just recently got married, and he probably likes Florida a whole hell of a lot. The WWE is probably paying him a crap load of money, and security is probably important to him. In addition, they can't hold him down forever.
