It's not slander to say he walked out on the company, because he did.

Saying that he "walked out" on national TV can indeed be called slander. Not that it matters, though.

We don't want to slander the good name of SCSA. It's because of him I'm stuck watching Benoit and Guerrerro feud with Buh Buh and Spike.

The fact that without Austin they "can't find anymore better to do with them" proves that they were only pushing them to please Steve, and nothing else. They would have lost interest as soon as Austin stopped forcing them to push the two, and this "amazing" feud would have happened anyway, albiet, a bit later.

Because of Austin? Let's not forget the damn reason that he left.

His name drew some pretty big boos, I was kind of surprised. But, you know if he comes back that when his music hits 93.6% of the audience would come close to climax.

Not if it's true. The truth is an absolute defense.

I'm not sure they were booing the name of Austin. I think they were booing HHH's put down of him.

They should just stop mentioning his name, period. Too many casual marks will think it's them hinting at his return. They should just let it go.

Something that is factually proveable can not be called slander. It is a known fact that he walked out just prior to a national TV taping, there were probably 100 witnesses. Take it to a court and you lose big time. Im not a lawyer, but even I could win that lawsuit for WWE.

Trust me, there's no way he could win a slander suit. The truth is always a defense, and well, Austin walked out on the company.

Libel and slander cases are very tough to prove. Even when there is a verdict in favor of the complainant, they often lose when the appeal comes up.

I'm not necessarily sure that's true. I think now that the casual fans know what "really happened" (well, assuming any of them watch Confidential), and since those reports of spouse abuse surfaced, the booing of Austin's name was genuine disapproval for his actions.

I have to disagree.

I don't think that the reports are THAT widely spread...Hell, if it wasn't for the net, I wouldn't know.

Besides, it's STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN. Everyone loves Steve...I think he could have shot Debra and he'd get a face pop.

Bottom line, I really think they were booing Trips for taking a shot at SCSA.

I dunno...Considering that Austin's beating Debra was headline news for many "Hollywood" shows...I'm sure alot of people know the story.

Well, if that's true, then its good that HHH is already getting over as a heel better than as a face.

Probably didn't mean anything, but HHH said "Stone Cold". Didn't even say his name.

WWE Lawyer: Mr Williams, did you walk out on the WWE?

Steve Williams: What?

fuck austin, it was the truth wasn't it?

I won't be happy until I see midgets with Austin Mask running around the ring and Beniot, Eddie, Flair, and Rock pointing and laughing as Rock pins him like 15 times to make up for all the times he put Austins ass over....maybe its just me.

And I don't think it was boos at all last night...It was more of a "OOOOHHHHHH" from the crowd...kinda like they were baiting 2 middle schoolers into a fight.

Hmm. This makes me realize an interesting point. Who owns the name "Stone Cold Steve Austin"? Is it Austin or WWE? (I know he's still under contract with WWE, which might give them the rights to the creative use of the name, if not actual ownership).

But let's say WWE has total ownership over the name "Stone Cold Steve Austin." Could they not safely say on air:

"Stone Cold Steven Austin was fired for having intimate relations with Lucy, Triple H's dog. It was not the first time he was caught doing it."

See, if they own the name, he's a fictional character they created. They could argue they are simply making use of the character, which they own (kind of like the fake Diesel and Razor Ramon). It's not slander, it's fiction, since SCSA and Steve Williams are the same person. If this were true, they could safely slander Austin, and Steve Williams would be the worse off for it.

Not that I'm saying they SHOULD do this. just an interesting theoretical legal conundrum, that's all.
