I hope the WWE realizes the rating jumped because the show was good, not simply because Rock or HHH was on. I really want to see the quarter hours. I hope the benoit / booker did good #'s.

How much of a jump was that? Anyone know what last week's rating was?

that's gotta be .6 raise I think, which is great. For the show they put on, they deserved it. Hopefully the trend will continue, in terms of both product and ratings.

3.8 last week, so a .5 jump.

The WWE seems to be on to something, I hope.

It was a great show, Guerrero, Benoit and Rock were all given time to tear the house down. And they did.

Vince wouldn't give the credit to HHH or Rock, he'd give it to Bischoff. He throws shit at the wall and credits the last piece of shit he threw at it when something good or bad happens.

Is that the overnight number or the final number?

If it's the final number then I'm pumped. I knew that RAW would get a good rating. Hopefully this trend continues.

Raws not a network show so no overnights. Its a final number.

Keep in mind, this was the night after a pay per view.

Forget Rocky, leave HHH out of it, 'cause damnit...

...BISHOFF = RATINGS!

The only thing that could possibly bring them higher from this point is, well, the return of The Eric Bishoff Show! (Anyone remember that?) But seriously...

...RAW was one hell of a show, and was a definite breath of fresh air. I hope that Smackdown continues the trend, and that it continues overall over the next few weeks. The way they are making RAW and Smackdown truly seem like two seperate shows are great. You know, perhaps this false (and not so false) sense of competition between the shows will work afterall!

Oh okay I don't know how ratings work.

Yeah but the last few "after ppv" RAWs haven't done this good have they?

I always say they earn what they get....and with an awesome show, they get a really good rating.

No, they haven't. As a matter of fact, the post-PPV ratings haven't really seen a bump at all for a while...

January 14, 2002 4.4

January 21, 2002 4.6

February 11, 2002 4.4

February 18, 2002 4.7

March 11, 2002 4.5

March 18, 2002 5.3

April 15, 2002 4.8

April 22, 2002 4.8

May 13, 2002 3.9

May 20, 2002 3.7

June 17, 2002 3.9

June 24, 2002 3.7

July 15, 2002 3.8

July 22, 2002 4.3

...the above is the RAW before a pre-PPV RAW rating, and the post-PPV RAW ratings since the Royal Rumble untill yesterday. From the looks of it, it looks like this is the first post-PPV RAW that got a bump, since the one right after WrestleMania. Now if you ask me, that in itself says a whole lot!

Ii dont really use ratings as a way to see if the show was good. I mean a number of factors can go into if someone watches or not. But last nights show was spectacular. And if ratings were the end all be all if the show was good, it shouldve done alot better than "This Is Your Life"-Mankind, Rock Segment. So i guess WWE got what they wanted in raising the ratings, but ratings and quality certainly dont go together.

Are you trying to bait me into a mad raging rant over the "This Is Your Life" manure!? Pleas, refrain from ever reminding me of that being of of the highest ratings ever, as it does nothing but rip the little faith I have in the casual fans in terms of knowing what Pro. Wrestling is all about!

By the way, I totally agree that ratings do not always = quality. It does howeve = what the casual fans react to, so business wise, if they react strongly to crap and it makes you money, then crap is what shall be given. I wish WWE would put on a pure wrestling show with feuds built around the love for the title and the generation long battle over climbing to the top and it pulls in a 10.0, but sadly I don't think that will ever happen.

ratings are inaccurate, because f a million people watch, and dislike, it still counts, but still i think the general populous was pleased

Out of curriosity, was the main even of Vengence truly as great as reports going around? I hear that Pat Patterson is getting a LOT of good feedback for his work on putting it together as it was presented.

I loved the main event- it had tons of drama, lots of action and Angle blading. ****

Would have been better if they didn't give away the finish a long time ago.

Awesome, I wish I could have seen it then. Like I said, I've heard only great things about the bout.

Well, I think the fact by just having Rocky in the match in the first place was a spoiler. I didn't think there was a chance in all of hell that he wouldn't leave the PPV with that World Title.

blood = ratings! Well, sorta...

Now, if RAW does a 4.7 or 4.8 next week, we may actually start talking about a recovery...

I am prepared for the ratings to drop about .2 for the next RAW, then the week after that to go back up .1 or so, and then climb ever so slowly, as long as they keep building up the shows like they did last night. Then, at Summerslam, what they do there will really determine what they have done in terms of fan interest, and where the ratings go from there.

I am now really interested to see what the quarter hour breakdowns were. This has to be a good sign because the show was peppered throughout with folks we (the board) want to see like Guerrerro, Benoit, RVD, Booker, and what not. And those guys were not bunched together. If the numbers didn't sway bad toward any of those individuals quarter hours, this could be the first sign of a sustained push for OUR guys.

All in all, way to go WWE. Recognize what you did right (format change) and run with this. Don't be afraid to put a Guerrero or RVD in your ME. Those guys, along with HHH and Brock will be carrying this show for awhile. (sorry, but it's a fact so you should just deal with it)
