So, HBK can't wrestle anymore?

Didn't he have like one last match well after that Match with Stonecold. I can't remember the specifics, but I do remember reading the recap of the match and it was like a hardcore type match and Shawn was doing quite a bit of bumping. And he did perform the match with Austin in the same condition he pretty much the same condition he is in now.

Does anyone else remember this match happening...and if so does it mean that Shawn could possibley be able to have a matches on a very light schedule.

Yeah, I do remember hearing about Shawn wrestling in the TWA a couple of years back. I didn't hear anything bad about the match.

It was part of an ownership angle against Venom (Paul Diamond). Shawn did little bumping. The match was said not to be good at all but it did draw a huge crowd by indie standards. You can find it from tape traders.

That was still a couple years back, though, right? Who knows what condition he's in now. I'm still inclined to believe it's not good, but only time will tell, I guess.

I believe he wrestled Venom, if my mind serves me right, in his "retirement" match. I think it was in late 1999.

Did Shawn ever get a Operation for his back or is he just nursing it?

Is HBK is the face in this feud- why not have him get Booker T to wrestle HHH. They could have HBK apologise, mention how he helped bring down the nWo and boom- You have The Book v. The Game at SummSlam

It was a hardcore match, hardly resembling the HBK of old, from what I've heard.

I personally feel that HBK has more than one match in him. Hell, even Ricky Steamboat has a few more matches in him.

Judging by the way HHH practically craded him on that pedigree, it looks like he can only take really gentle bumps.

Maybe he can wrestle one more match, but I don't think he should because it would probably be a horrible match (especially if it will be against a still-slow HHH), and one wrong bump and he's Droz Part 2.

Want to get HBK to leave WWE really quick?

Goldberg vs. Michaels.

Bret Hart would have a hard time figuring out who to cheer for.

a freak occurance on a back body drop did not end shawn's career. years of bumping like a rag doll and flying around like a mexican jumping bean ended shawn's career. there are so many people in this forum who don't understand that it's not necessarily the simple fuck-ups that end careers. it's the constant bumping that compromises bodies, which sets them up for the simple fuck-ups to end their careers. even if shawn HAD cleared the casket on that back body drop, his knees had been bothering him for years & he would've had to retire by the time foley did, if not sooner.

I'd rather he not wrestle anymore. I don't see anyway it could be the kind of HBK match we know and love.

If he could work one as good as, say, the WM 14 match, then ok. But I have my doubts.

I think the audience would leave, too.

Back to the topic: HBK's done. His soft Pedigree bump says it all. His ego won't allow him to get back into the ring unless he's at 100%.

Which is fine by me.

I agree. All HBK would be doing by stepping back into the ring would be hurting his in-ring legacy and risk further damage to his back.

NO, the body drop ended his career. He would have had trouble down the road or what ever, but a hard edge hitting his spine made it necessary to end it then and is why he isn't wrestling now. He could have made a career of not bumping at all, and if he took that bump it would have ended his career. Same for Harely Race. he spent years bumping and yeah it took a toll on his body, but that fall on the table is what ended it.

watch the shawn michaels shoot interview. he says that he'd already put too much stress on his back, & also says that it was probably 'one of those things where it's just gone already before you know it's gone'. if shawn had bumped like hogan all his career & then taken that same bump, the casket wouldn't have done as much damage to his back as it did. he would've been injured & probably taken some time off, but he'd still be wrestling.

Yeah, but Shawn isn't a doctor and quite honestly, I would say that it happend from years of doing the job instead of one stupid bump, but that was the case. Bump or no, the requirement for that injury was having bones in his lower spine fused...that would have ended his career. Now, yeah, it might have ended down the road anyway due to the bumping, but that is a career ending injury even if you bump like Hogan did through his career.

Terry Funk is proof positive of what happens to your body through years of bad bumps. Shawn was victim of a bad incident.

I remember HHH going all crazy summa-bitch with the sledge hammer on a Casket that Rock was in during the Dark Ministry angle. As a matter of fact, that is the first night I noticed that he had gotten FREAKIN HUGE. I thought a Roided up Ultimate Warrior was doing it at first then I was like" Is...is that HHH? Jeebus he got big."

I don't recall if that was a casket match or part of a Taker angle.

There were casket matches. I remember that there was one episode of Smackdown where Rock had to survive various types of matches, and it was him against Viscera and Mideon. He put one of them in the casket, but then it was stipulated that you had to put both in the casket, so he wound up losing. I'm a little shaky on the specifics, but I'm positive it was something along those lines. I don't think they've had casket matches since then, though, as Undertaker got injured, then came back as Underbiker.

It was the casket match at the 98 Rumble...You'll notice Shawn didn't have another match till Mania, he just showed up to work angles, but didn't have matches or even bump from the Rumble till Mania, he wasn't even on the No Way Out 98 ppv
