Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 The thread about who Hogan's last match will be against got me thinking about the other icon, Nature Boy Ric Flair. It has been brought up recently that Flair doesn't want to wrestle full time, and they've had him off a show or two because they had nothing for him. I just wonder if maybe he will be leaving within the year if he sees he can't add to his legend. Will he and Hogan ever wrestle again to determine who was the man of the 80's? Would it be good enough to be an upper midcard match at the next WrestleMania?
Guest Steviekick Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 That would be a great Wrestlemania midcard match. Personally, I see Hogan retiring first, because Flair is continually over. Their have been times where Hogan doesn't get any heat, but Flair always seems to. As for Terry Funk, i see him retiring in late 2024.
Guest bob_barron Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 Hogan v. Flair both as faces would be pretty fun to see
Guest thebigjig Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 Hopefully Hogan because unlike Flair, Hogan doesn't have anything left in him in-ring wise. Flair is still very useful and can still wrestle with the best of them. I would love to see Flair stay around at least another year and then have a huge retirement match at WrestleMania... or hell, it would be really cool if they revived Starrcade and his retirement came at the REAL granddaddy of them all
Guest jimmy no nose Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 They won't retire, they'll just die in the ring.
Guest Just call me Dan Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 Hogan. It seems like his retirement plan is going into effect and he has it all laid out whereas Flair is going day to day and will hopefully be rewarded in the end with a big retirement match.
Guest mach7 Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 I'm guessing Hogan will retire first. Since Hogan started that "one last run" thing just after 'Mania, and Flair just started his when Austin left.. Flair has a few months on Hogan if we're to assume that "one last run" equates to one year. Which is what I'm assuming. I could be wrong, of course.
Guest Tony149 Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 I also think Hogan will retire first unless some serious injury happens to Flair. Hogan's body doesn't look like it can take the wear and tear any more. Flair, whose also had his fair share of injuries in the last few years, can still go. I still want to see The Rock/Flair promo war and wrestling match.
Guest Just call me Dan Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 Damn, I never even thought about that. Flair could also pass his torch to the Rock because hopefully Rocky will be done with movies after Spyhunter and wrestl full time. What will probably end up happening is HHH/Flair war with HHH picking up heel tactics as Flair's apprentice (not on camera) and HHH eventually retiring Flair like he did Foley and getting that rub to spark his heel status again.
Guest thebigjig Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 I still want to see The Rock/Flair promo war and wrestling match. That's one of my personal dream matches. That would so fucking awesome
Guest evenflowDDT Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 I actually think Flair will retire first because even though Hogan's heat is slowly but surely dying off, Flair doesn't seem to have very much heat at all. Plus, there isn't really anything for Flair to do... I mean they can't even hawk merchandise on him, and even though they're much better matches than anything Hogan could do these days, nobody, smark or mark, wants to see Flair vs. Steven Richards every week.
