Guest BoboBrazil Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 The final rating is in, and Smackdown did a 3.3 broadcast rating for UPN last night, with a six share. Last week did a 3.4 broadcast rating with a six share, so they are slightly down this week. The week before that did a 3.3 with a six share. 1wrestling.com I guess the jump in ratings was all due to Bischoff and they don't care about a show he isn't on.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 hmm...not as good as I thought it would be.
Guest Army Eye Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 That awful first 45 minutes had to have hurt the rating. I can imagine some people turning it off during that time.
Guest RenegadeX28 Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 WHAT! A 3.3!?!?! Man, that SD was awesome. People need to start viewing SD more. I thought that show was to get at least a 4.
Guest AndrewTS Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 DAMN!...THAT much off?! NEVER TRUST OVERNIGHT RATINGS! Nice job, Steph--you even put a damper on a REY MYSTERIO'S DEBUT! DAMN YOU! DAMN YOU TO HELL!
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 Army Eye is right...it's tough to sit through MArk Henry, Albert, Rikishi and D-Von for a casual fan...even if a cage match and Rey Jr. are on the other side.
Guest AndrewTS Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 Oh...another thing to consider--someone I know from the west coast said it is delayed there until SATURDAY due to a freakin' WNBA game, so maybe similar things occured elsewhere.
Guest Just call me Dan Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 It's tough to sit through those guys even for a DEVOTED fan. Watching that load of shit really made me forget all about the cage match and Rey Mtsterio untile I finally shook out of it and just watched.
Guest AndrewTS Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 Even though I don't have a Nielson box, I taped the show, knowing I'd have to sit through those HOSSES, so maybe others did the same.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 Time to fire Albert and Rikishi.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 Wait a minute...does this mean that Brock doesn't = ratings? I'm in shock.
Guest Ram Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 I still cannot find enough interest to turn on SmackDown! Maybe it should be on Tuesdays, Live.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 Maybe they should cut half the roster and just have the good wrestlers on both shows. Imagine that! They'd save money...deliver better shows...and have twice as much time to develop angles and create new stars with the good young wrestlers. Just crazy enough to work.
Guest notJames Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 You mean you'd sacrifice such scintillating feuds as Rikishi vs. Albert or Hardcore Holly vs. Billy Gunn? Perish the thought!
Guest razazteca Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 Maybe they should cut half the roster and just have the good wrestlers on both show nah just have the champs and good wrestlers float over.....Tag Team champs and Canadians I want to see you on RAW
Guest Masked Heel Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 Spoliers are a big problem esspecially with ratings not great like they have been even following a good Raw i bet most people looked at the spoilers and decided to watch or not watch from that also Ray jr although is an acomplished wrestler i'm not so sure the casual mark cares that much about him i mean he's a great high flyer but he really hasn't ever mad a huge impact in any company
Guest Just call me Dan Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 Seriously the WWE should "trim the fat" so to speak and have nothing but the best workers who are over and the top names. Those guys who are cut can go elsewhere and hope one day they will get called to be in the #1 company. Put the roster back together and if guys want a second chance they have to be "drafted" or have a try out to see how they do. This Albert/Rikishi/Holly/D'Von/Venis crap is annoying. Raw seems to have a good roster up and down where Smackdown was left with half shit.
Guest buffybeast Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 Leave Albert the hell alone, people. He is being misused. He does not suck.
Guest Raven_Effect01 Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 I think the final Smackdown rating being a 3.3 is because not many people care to see Albert, Rikishi, Mark Henry, etc. wrestle, and also possibly due to the delays AndrewTS was talking about for people on the west coast.
Guest HartFan86 Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 So much for the 4.6 overnight rating.
Guest BoboBrazil Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 It not being shown in a certain market has no real affect on the ratings. It is delayed in different markets every week.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 Albert is being misused...I agree. What the hell is he doing off of Velocity?
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 It's easy for us to say, "FIRE HIM!," but when there is contracts and other things involved, it could end up costing Vince a ton of money. Usually, when you release someone from a contract you have to still pay them off. I'm sure Vince doesn't wanna dish out a ton of money, even if these wrestlers are dead weight.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 It's either pay him a lump sum...or keep paying them to stink up the place. Plus...you'd save money on travel and stuff since they'd be off the road.
Guest Shaved Bear Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 well vince can still make money off these guys, because all the marks wear Albert shirts tophats=ratings
Guest buffybeast Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 Albert is being misused...I agree. What the hell is he doing off of Velocity? I was wondering the same thing.
Guest AndrewTS Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 It does seem rather odd..Albert wrestling on Smackdown, yet usually Goldust gets dark matches or Heat? Not that I'm a huge fan of Goldust's WRESTLING, but he's a hell of a lot more over than Albert.
Guest Brian Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 By my rough estimates, that's about a 3.9 for cable.
Guest The Man in Blak Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 WHAT! A 3.3!?!?! Man, that SD was awesome. People need to start viewing SD more. I thought that show was to get at least a 4. Well, I'd add my usual rant on ratings...but it's been done. Simply put, if enough people survived the first hour, they'll probably tell their friends and then next week's SD rating will go up.
