Guest mister foozel Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 I couldn't believe the Rock tapped out on Smackdown, and didn't even get to the ropes! I'm loving it, that's something new and this Brock/Rock thing might heat up after all! Besides, it was hard to believe before some guy WOULDN'T tap to the Crossface. I mean, look at it this way, do you think for a second YOU could hold up against a man with arms like Chris Benoit trying to rip your head off? I didn't think so.
Guest The Superstar Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 Benoit is God. Screw Lesnar, I want Benoit/Rocky at Summerslam!
Guest Anglesault Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 Yeah, Lesnar/Rock COULD heat up. And the earth COULD open up and swallow us into eternal damnation!
Guest The Superstar Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 And that'll be the same day Brock Lesnar gets a crowd reaction! "huff, puff...Hey Angle...I'm not over, and I haven't put on a good match yet...but I'm better than you, and huff puff, I'm winning the WWE Title in 24 days!"
Guest Incandenza Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 Rock/Benoit has proven to be FANFUCKINGTASTIC in the past, and it's a shame that we probably won't get that again before Rocky goes off to make another movie.
Guest Just call me Dan Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 Clean finishes are awesome. Do you think it's Bischoff?
Guest The Superstar Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 Who remembers Benoit pinning The Rock with a German Suplex in Feb.2000 after Benoit debuted? He had The Rock down for like 10 seconds!
Guest Dangerous A Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 "Clean finishes are awesome. Do you think it's Bischoff?" Unfortunately Bischoff is stictly on air talent. He has absolutely no creative power at all.
Guest TheDames7 Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 I think its part of the whole "new submission style" WWE is apparantly taking. With Rock leaving in a few weeks anyway, I'm sure he didn't mind putting over Beniot. Dames
Guest The Superstar Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 But Rock CAN'T leave. I MUST see Benoit/Rock again. WHY must we have Brock as champ? WHY?!
Guest Army Eye Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 It was nice. Then again they made Angle's ankle lock look foolish on the same show.
Guest myburninghammer Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 I'd guess we'll get Rock/Benoit as the main event for next week's Smackdown, which is fine by me even though Rock will get the deuce...watching and appreciating them is what being a wrestling fan is all about.
Guest mach7 Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 And that'll be the same day Brock Lesnar gets a crowd reaction! "huff, puff...Hey Angle...I'm not over, and I haven't put on a good match yet...but I'm better than you, and huff puff, I'm winning the WWE Title in 24 days!" Yeah, god forbid the man be out of breath after lifting a 350 pound fat ass over his shoulders and then some. If anything, blame production for not filming the backstage promos at a different time.
Guest DJ Jeff Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 I enjoyed seeing the Rock tap. It's not everyday you see the Rock job to superstars. I'm hoping we see the Rock vs. Benoit as the main event for Smackdown next week. *sigh*....I'd rather that be the main event for SummerSlam over the Rock vs. Lesnar.

He was out of breath last week from walking to the ring, F5ing Henry, and walking to the back. And he is MAIN EVENTING SUMMERSLAM!
Guest The Superstar Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 Like AS said, I can't wait to see him go a 15-20 minute match. Unless they go the SS95 route and give it less than 10.
Guest Evolved Primate Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 Summerslam won't be very good, The Rock can't carry other wrestlers, and the crowd doesn't like Lesnar.
Guest DJ Jeff Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 Like AS said, I can't wait to see him go a 15-20 minute match. Unless they go the SS95 route and give it less than 10. If the Rock vs. Lesnar match is less than 10 minutes, then bullshit to them. This is the main event at the 2nd biggest PPV for the WWE. Having the main event only last less than 10 minutes would be a disgrace and would be utter bullshit.
Guest godthedog Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 i was jumping up & down like a little girl for 10 minutes, but then reality kicked in. cause i'd jumped up & down like a little girl when angle made hogan tap. and now the hogan/angle match tonight destroyed all that & made the ankle lock just another move to pop the crowd while building to the finish. the federation isn't going to follow through with this. hell, rob van damn didn't even tap to the crossface monday. to sell the move as deadly, you have to get EVERYBODY to succumb to it CONSISTENTLY. otherwise it just ruins the suspension of disbelief (i'm reminded of the way triple h always tapped to the walls of jericho, except when it was done during an actual match). 2 years ago the rock made the move look like shit by staying in it forever without tapping (or even selling through the rest of the match, if i remember correctly). if the rock is still tapping to the hold 6 months from now, then i'll be happy. until then, they haven't done anything to prove to me that tonight wasn't just a fluke.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 If only Rock had tapped to the Walls at No Mercy...I swear Jericho would have been made. HHH still would have buried him...but at least JEricho would have been credible going in.
Guest jester Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 hell, rob van damn didn't even tap to the crossface monday. to sell the move as deadly, you have to get EVERYBODY to succumb to it CONSISTENTLY. I don't know. When RVD doesn't tap to the crossface, but gets to the ropes, it actually makes him look tougher than Rock. That would seem to indicate they are building RVD as a better adversary for Benoit, which would be great if they were still on the same show and feuding. "Whoaa! RVD managed to endure the crossface twice! Rock couldn't even take it!" As it is, this indirectly making RVD look more dangerous to Benoit than Rocky has got to be purely accidentally on WWE's part.
Guest Kid Kablam Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 Jester, that is the best goddamn sig I have seen in a long time. Huh? Oh yeah... Benoit rules
Guest Ph34r Tha Leaf Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 triple h always tapped to the walls of jericho, except when it was done during an actual match Ain't that the fookin' truth. And LMAO @ jester's sig.
Guest PlatypusFool Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 Summerslam won't be very good, The Rock can't carry other wrestlers, and the crowd doesn't like Lesnar. Shut your mouth, Rock has carried more wrestlers to watchable matches than most of the people on the roster, he can make anyone look decent. As far as Brock goes, I think Rock has a chance of carrying him, if he wears his workin' boots. All it takes is for Brock to get in plenty of varied offence, use the matwork that we know he is capable of, and then for Rock to time his comeback to perfection. I'm hoping for a good match.
Guest saturnmark4life Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 RVD showed that you can have a heated match with brock. Nevermind the finish...
Guest jester Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 Kid, Ph34r Tha Leaf, thanks. The pic of Xpac and Nash is ad for the nwo shirt. I saw that and I thought "Geez, Xpac looks like his mugshot, and Nash looks like he just jumped out of a salon." Those two should have been in the shampoo feud, not Booker and Edge.
Guest The Superstar Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 In that NWO t-shirt ad all they did was replace Hall's head with X-Pac's.
Guest Brian Posted August 2, 2002 Report Posted August 2, 2002 Patterson will book a dramatic match. Heyman's done a great job with Smackdown.
