What if Brock doesn't win the title at SummerSlam?

I was just thinking, that Benoit seems to be more over as a bad-ass since he came back and the WWE might possibly notice that Brock is not at all over. We all know Rock is heading out soon to film his next movie and needs to drop the title soon, but what if they do this:

Rock defeats Brock to retain the title, maybe even have Benoit come out to try and interfere and still have Rock win, then the next week on Smackdown (preferrably Raw since its live and the night after the ppv, even though Benoit is now Smackdown) Benoit challenges Rock and defeats him for the title.

Brock as champ will be like having Sid as champ and they really need to put the belt on someone that is over. You can even have Brock be pissed that Benoit has the belt, start a feud, and go from there.

Uhm, did Benoit seem massively over last night and (as I seem to be doing all the time now) I missed it? Because he didn't seem so over to me that WWE should be rushing to throw the Unified title around his waist. If you would have said Angle, you'd be right, but Benoit would be a huge failure at the top of the card. Granted everyone would blame the booking for it, but it would still be true.

If this was my little fantasy, I get whatever I want, world, then this would happen. However, I see about no chance of that happening whatsoever, but if it does, I will indeed ba a happy man. Brock can get over in time, but NOW is not his time. Benoit is more than ready, and can take this thing to the next leval. Think of it like this...

...as far as I'm concerned, WHOEVER beats Rocky for the title, they are going to hold it for a very long time, untill WrestleMania possibly. The title needs that, WWE needs that, and the business as a whole needs that. Who would you rather be champ for that long? Brocky, who is not a proven star, or Benoit, who can pull out good match after good match out of anyone. Besides, if Benoit beats Rocky for it, we MIGHT be in store for one of our "dream" Wrestlemanias, yeah, you know what I'm talking about.

since I'm going to assume that the dream match is RVD/Benoit 2...

...cause that's mine...

Have I mentioned that I don't think RVD is even making the ppv this month?

Or Hogan, or Angle, hell, even Eddy or Benoit.

If Angle and RVD dont' have programs before Summerslam, throw them together in a "SD vs. Raw" match or something.

And Booker doesn't look like he'll be on either.

Good job making feuds, WWE.

WWE is so busy throwing guys on different shows that they haven't bothered to notice that with all the chaos and roster fluctuation it is hard to create feuds. That is a problem with having the Bisch/Steph stuff. At the end of the day no one really gives a shit who is on Raw and who is on SMDN. People just want some feuds leading into a PPV.

In theory, isn't it set up right now so that ONLY Rocky/Brocky is on the PPV?

I think RVD will move to SmackDown next week when Benoit's bragging about making Rock tap.

The guy that Rock would put the title on is Jericho. After he beats Flair, he's the most likely person for Rock to put over.

Benoit is over enough for the title. He just beat Rock clean on Smackdown, the fans will buy him as Champion.

And at least Sid was OVER, oldschool, when the WWE put the title on him originally at Survivor Series '96. Brock can't even say that.

See...now that would make sense.

Is Rock going to start on another movie before the next ppv after Summerslam?

If Benoit is to get more over, he needs to get as far as possible away from Latino Heatless. I like them as a team, but Eddy is doing Chris NO favors.

On one hand, if Rocky gets a clean win on Brock, it's all over and they wasted several months on the guy.

OTOH, I'd believe a Rock finish if Heyman costs Lesnar the match (and thus Brock sends Paul packing.)

im re-iterating my theory:

Rock beats Brock narrowly

HHH beasts Rock the next night on Raw.

"On one hand, if Rocky gets a clean win on Brock, it's all over and they wasted several months on the guy."

they already have to a certain degree. He can get 10x more the rub/push by losing to Brock, but Rock still putting him over in the way that he looks great in losing

Brock is not over. Not the King of the Ring title, not a fued with RVD, nor wreaking havoc on Mizark Henry/Hogan/Angle is getting him over, either. Plus, I thought I was the only one to notice that Brock seems to get winded VERY easily. No one cares about Brock except the WWE bookers themselves. The title win should be aborted, and have Rock hang onto the title for a tad longer--only to job the title on TV, which certainly would generate interest. Benoit? I have no problems with that...however, it'd be nicer on Raw, but spoilers leaked on Smackdown could help ratings gravitate more towards that show.

Still, the point is, I think even the WWE isn't so stupid as to have another terrible champion, like Big Show or face Triple H (I wonder if it bothers him that Jericho was a better champion in every conceivable way, despite having Stephanie there to sabotage it. :P). They'd then have to have him defending the title in the undercard, before HHH mercilessly kills his title reign.

also , I bet we'll see Rock-Benoit next Smackdown. They seem like the want great matchups leading into summerslam for the 2 particpants. Brock-Hogan may not be great on paper but fans will care if Lesnar makes Hulk his bitch in the first hour , than have a 20 minute Rocky-Benoit main event

Must I remind some of you that SummerSlam is still a little more than 3 weeks away. They've got time.

Remember, Benoit vs. Angle from WrestleMania X-7 was thrown together a week in advance

Another problem I see is - when's the last time we had a face champion with a reign longer than a month? It's gone to heels and tweeners for 2-3 months at a time, and all the faces have been transitional champs. That's why I was pulling for an RVD/Taker ME at Summerslam, and an RVD win, so the fans could have a champion they actually WANT to be champion for a long time.

How it is now? We're screwed. Rock will most likely toss it to Brock, and even THAT won't get Brock over. Then hopefully Angle and Brock will fued, turning Angle into the face by necessity (was I the only one hoping he turned face last night?) and putting on some darn good matches, but even so we'll be in for another long term heel run.
