Guest nikowwf Posted August 5, 2002 Report Posted August 5, 2002 Hey Peeps, Ill be at Summerslam this year, where I hope the crowd is a little more up for than it has been for previous shows. Nassau Colliseum crowds have been awful for previous shows I have been at. A good crowd can really make the difference in a PPV - I went to KOTR last year which granted was a average at best show, but the dead crowd just killed it completely. You could hear the crickets. There's going to be new guys trying to get over, a probable title change, Rey in his first PPV match and all of these may be greeted with silence by the wonderful LI fans. Niko
Guest The Tino Standard Posted August 5, 2002 Report Posted August 5, 2002 That's a pretty good point. I've noticed that in the last few years, crowds at Nassau have been awful. They don't sell out buildings and when they are there, they don't make ANY noise at all. On the other hand, SummerSlam sold out in 90 minutes. Maybe that is a good sign for an eager crowd. All I know is that is the first time I've heard about a WWE event selling out that quickly in a LONG time.
Guest converge241 Posted August 5, 2002 Report Posted August 5, 2002 Nassau is god awful for TV events.. hopefully the fans will wake up for this i know my hometown will for Royal Rumble (boston) and Survivor Series should be great in MSG
Guest TheDames7 Posted August 5, 2002 Report Posted August 5, 2002 Then again, a lot of fans from NYC will be coming to Nassau because its a PPV. That should help balance the crowd. Dames
Guest RicFlairGlory Posted August 5, 2002 Report Posted August 5, 2002 God I cant WAIT for the fucking Rumble, I've wanted to go to the RR since '91 But Long Island AND Boston are great for "day of the event" seating. Providence SUCKS
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted August 5, 2002 Report Posted August 5, 2002 I guess thats why they haven't had a PPV at the Nassau Colliseum in such a long time.
Guest Vitamin X Posted August 5, 2002 Report Posted August 5, 2002 Maybe it's just me, but the crowds in LA are also very dead.. I get pretty excited at live shows, and the Anaheim Pond is just always DEAD. So I turned heel when I went to the Staples Center with my friend Jordan, and we cheered on all the heels, and actually the crowd there was decent. But yeah, WM 2000 was actually a better ppv than it seemed but dead thanks to that horrible Anaheim crowd. And HHH retaining the title at the end of the show. Man, those people were pissed, muahahah
Guest LatinoHeat Posted August 5, 2002 Report Posted August 5, 2002 Providence SUCKS did you go there for the 94 rumble?
Guest Shaved Bear Posted August 5, 2002 Report Posted August 5, 2002 the Garden i probably the hottest crowd anywhere
Guest ShooterJay Posted August 5, 2002 Report Posted August 5, 2002 Have Rumble tickets gone on sale yet, and if not, when?
Guest LatinoHeat Posted August 5, 2002 Report Posted August 5, 2002 considering summerslam tickets just gone on sake the last week of july id say no.
Guest RicFlairGlory Posted August 5, 2002 Report Posted August 5, 2002 Providence SUCKS did you go there for the 94 rumble? Nah, at the time I was still forced to job to my parents, I tried, but my Uncle couldnt get seats, and we didnt want to risk getting them at the gate. But I swear, Long Island, Boston, Worcester, Manchester, all of those places, I can get ringside on the day of the event. MSG isnt too bad either, but Long Island was by far and away the easiest. The Hartford Civic Center is pretty good about it too, but god Providence just refuses to hold seats for DOE (Day Of the Event), you CANT get seats there for the life of you, but I know a couple of the scalpers so I can manage....
Guest mickberna Posted August 5, 2002 Report Posted August 5, 2002 I'll tell you, Long Island and LA area are the exact same thing in terms of dead crowds... why? Because the people who go to the events are too cool to get up and cheer. LA and LI make me sick. In MSG, you get everyone from Brooklyn, Bronx, even Queens, but in Nassau you get... Nassau. Where nobody gives a rat's ass about anything except buying new SUV's and going to sleep early so they can make their damn commute the next morning. People on Long Island are just miserable. Most everyone's life sucks, and the only thing they have to compensate are nice cars. So don't ever expect a hot crowd from Nassau. I hope Dames is right, that a lot of NYC people make it to the show, because a LI crowd will just suck the air out of the arena in no time flat. "We give you a great show, and all you people do is sit on your hands! Well, let me tell you something... As an audience, you people SUCK!!!!!" -- Paul Heyman, Raw is War, 2001, Nassau Coliseum
Guest Shaved Bear Posted August 5, 2002 Report Posted August 5, 2002 my friend from LI drives a beefed up Camaro...but he is still energetic about things, and doesnt give a shit about going to sleep early, but then again he doesnt like wrestling
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted August 5, 2002 Report Posted August 5, 2002 You know what rules? Getting to go backstage after events.... Which *I* get to do. Thank you for my uncle working for Nassau security. Hmmmm, wonder if I can get Brocks autograph AFTER he wins the Undisputed Title....
Guest AngleLock Posted August 5, 2002 Report Posted August 5, 2002 I've never been up north before (I'm from New Orleans) but it's been a dream of mine to see a PPV at MSG. My dream main event would feature Kurt making that miserable bastard HHH tap, therefore winning the WWE title that HHH had won through all his shit. Then Jericho would run in afterwards and slap the Walls on HHH, tearing both his quads...I can dream, can't I?

Guest Retro Rob Posted August 6, 2002 Report Posted August 6, 2002 I was at Nassau for a house show in May. The crowd was more into it than usual.
