In one of the Rock/Jericho matches (Vengeance - I downloaded on Hotline), the Rock is down and almost out, like a 9-count in a Last Man Standing, five minutes into the match.

But 16 minutes into Michaels/Mankind at Mind Games, both men are still up, still energetic, and still putting on one hell of a match. (16 minutes = halfway through)

Does anyone else think matches need to go beyond the "three minutes of fast action before the heel dominates" formula? I mean, Mind Games was almost all back and forth action, but it was fast paced - neither man tired out for a long time. Seeing the Undisputed Champion suffer two "BAH GAWD" suplexes and be down on the mat for a count of nine kind of kills it, I think.

Completely Agree. Matches are too short period, it seems like the wrestlers have to drag it out to get a long match, instead of wrestling a good long match

It's not even that matches are too short - Rock/Jericho at Vengeance was something like 17 minutes total, which is fine for a high-caliber but not main event match. The problem is most of it was spent with one person slooooooowly in control of the other.

Michaels and Mankind took incredible punishment (I loved Michaels in the tree of woe with Mankind doing running elbows), but still, halfway through, they were up and running and jumping and it all made sense.

Thats what I meant, in order to have a decently long match, nowadays, they dredge through it, seem beat up the whole time, and lose energy immediately. They dont stay energetic, it just turns into a slow paced shitfest.

*PS- God I love the word shitfest*

I think we can all agree that we want HHH/HBK to be kept very short.
