If this isn't a smark dream match, I don't know what is:

In a WarGames Match:

Benoit/Guerrero/Angle/Mystery Partner

VS

Edge/John Cena/Rey Mysterio/Hulk Hogan

I think the mystery guy should be Shelton Benjamin, or Rob Conway. Pretty much every WarGames match has been great and this cast would make it match-of-the-night easy. :D

War Games matches are generally good.

but that one doesn't look too clever. Hogan, Cena, Rob Conway?

I know that what I was thinking... throw in some RVD and Jericho.. you're good to go. Maybe even HHH pre-injury.

John Cena in WarGames???????

Rob Conway- the dude who jobbed to Randy Orton??

I think you need to go back to the drawing board

Which War Games have you been watching? There hasn't been a good one since the early 90s. I guess that one could turn out to be a pretty good match, but they definitely aren't great that often.

I added Cena because he's been with Mysterio and Edge the last few weeks. And if you guys have a better mystery partner idea, by all means state it. Mine was just that: An idea. Also Hogan is in there with SEVEN OTHER GUYS. How much damage can he do to the match?

Much Better...

could still lose Cena though :)

I didn't use RAW guys because it seems the WWE is trying to cut back on defections.

Problem with War Games is Vince didn't invent it. If he didn't invent it, it's probrably not going to be on tv. And if he did go through with War Games, he'd just fuck it up like he did with the NWO. Can you tell I'm frustrated with Vince yet?

Guest TheZsaszHorsemen

Well, you're right on the first count, Dusty Rhodes invented it. But perhaps now that Vince and Dusty are working together he might be more open to the idea.

If the WWE pull out a WarGames match it should only be RAW vs. SmackDown. Mixing the brands would be a bad idea. At least with a RAW vs. SmackDown match, we could see which brand the fans prefer(hopefully).

In case of a RAW vs. SmackDown WarGames, without using the immediate Main Eventers, the teams should be:

RAW: Booker T/RVD/Jericho/Goldust

SmackDown: Benoit/Angle/Guerreo/Edge

SMELL THE BUYRATE~!

As much as I love Goldust replace him with Flair.

Good Point.

But Dusty's son in a WarGames match just seems right somehow.

I dunno about that idea, NazMinistry. If your going to do that, why build the feuds they have done alread...and then just have them team up? I honestly don't see a team of Angle/Edge, Edge/Benoit, or Guerrero/Angle working out. I don't see Jericho/Booker, Jericho/RVD, Jericho/Goldust, or Jericho/Flair working on a team either.

If you do it the way I did it, you already built the SD feud with the 6 from SD and you can have the 2 guys who aren't doing shit right now from Raw (Jericho can just hold off his program with Flair by having Flair/Jericho having a confrontation before where Jericho puts Flair on the shelf for a few weeks which leads up to a blowoff match @ Unforgiven or No Mercy).

My opinion, though.

"The Natural" Dustin Rhodes bumped and bled like a madman in the '92 Wargames match. Dustin frickin' ruled 10 years ago.

I don't think a Wargames at Summerslam would be a good idea, particularly not for a set of storylines that are excruciatingly midcard at this point. It WOULD, however, be the ultimate big-time main event to Survivor Series if you could work the right story to support it.

Umm...how long before people realize that smart wet-dreams don't always equall money? War Games wasn't Vince's idea, was an idea of someone he despises, has WCW written all over it, and any meaning it might have right now (not much...) would be killed because it would be wasted on a vapid Steph/Eric angle that no one really cares too much about.

BPS, say it ain't so!

It's...a big cage! And drama! And tension! And blooooood!

...and the Cruncher! Zing!

Bloody and senseless brawls are always overrated. Look at HIAC II where Foley tried to kill himself. A lot of marks say this was the greatest match ever. Granted, Wargames would be entertaining, but the WWE doesn't need gimmick matches coming in by the dozens.

WarGames?!

Why have that when we could have ladder matches~! every week? :)

War Games

Taker, Flair, RVD, Booker T vs Jericho, Storm, Christian, Test

Guest bob_barron

Go 5 on 5 at Survivor Series with-

RAW-

Taker, Booker, Flair, RVD, Jericho

v.

SD!

Radicalz, Angle, Edge and Rey Mysterio

Taker could stand there and kill people. RVD, Jericho and Rey Rey could do high flying stuff and Angle, Edge, Jericho, Flair, Taker and RVD could all blade.

Eh, it may just be my natural bias, but RVD isn't the type of guy who would look good in a WarGames match. And for that fact, I'd say Guerrero, too.

But alas, Ricky pretty much hit it on the head about the drawing power of the match. If they had done it at Survivor Series to finally blow off the Invasion angle, then it probbly could have worked, but I seriously doubt it now.

ladder matches have been done. I f they do another it'll just be old stuff. I definitely want to see wargames in the wwf, they definitely should have done it at the last survivor series (i hated that match) though i'd hold it off till nest survivor series rather than do it at summerslam, yeah. That would make more sense. and don't think for a minute kane wouldn't be in there. Not that i'd mind that really.

Actually, a WarGames match is a perfect fit for Kane and Undertaker. They wouldn't have to work that hard and their penchants for no-selling wouldn't be a problem then because it'd be believable.

HIAC II was a case of a good brawler trying to carry a bad wrestler (who was also injurred) to a "good match" by killing himself and then accidently going too far with the idea, and nearly dying as a result. That match had no realy comparison to any other brawls because by the time they actually get to the brawling portion, the good brawler was nearly dead and the bad wrestler was in no position to walk him through the match. That has no corrillation to war games and how it's bloody and senseless.

War Games is good in the sense that it allows the wrestler two rings of freedome so that two large factions can battle it out, but contains them inside the cage so that no one can escape and the fight gets all the more vicious, with blade jobs and the like. It also always the heels to dominate by always winning the coin toss, so that the drama builds nicely. While I think many of them are deffinately over-rated, War Games always delivers fun blood and violence, and is a good way to blow off a faction/faction feud. However, the drama is a neccesity, and there really is none with Steph/Bischoff. Who do who boo or cheer for? Being on one show or the other determines whether we get behind them or not? Ridiculous.

Exactly. I mean, if I were baising my opinion of the Road Warriors on just the first ever War Games, I'd think they were the best wrestlers I had ever seen. The context of it helps a lot, because even if it's all kick-punch, the drama makes it seem to fit, so to speak.

On the reverse side of things, Lance Storm is the type of guy that you want to keep AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE from War Games.
