Hes had good matches, but they've all been against good talent(jericho, angle), and thats exatcly what luger did. I havent seen him work agaisnt any bad talent, so might he just be snowballing us into thinking hes good?

Just a thought, and an attempt to eventually hit 200th post.

Well, his current character pisses me off royally, which is what everyone said would happen when he showed up, trouble is he was a heel in OVW. I think they should milk the 'future of SD' kliq for all it's worth for now, then turn him on them. That would work. I'm more confident in his abilities after his showing in the 6 man however. But maybe i just enjoyed it more cos they were killing him.

Luger had a great match for the US Title with Dan Spivey, unless you consider him a great talent.

Luger could always work, until he got lazy around 1991 or so. Perhaps it was the injury, but pre-1991, he was awesome and it wasn't just because of Flair & Steamboat all the time.

Hell, as mush as I hate Luger. I remember going to see "Clash of Champions 6" LIVE in 89' and Luger had a pretty damn good match with Brian Pillman for the US or TV title. I forget now.

That doesn't help to disprove the "Only against great workers" theory. Last I checked Pillman was pretty damn good.

Watch the matches, and you can see that Steamboat, Flair, Pillman, and Windham weren't carrying him. Well, Flair was, in the sense that Flair was basically working the same match at every show back then, including with Luger, but Lex always knew how to play his role perfectly in the match and was much better fit for Flair than most. Hell, Luger had some matches with Koloff that were down-right awesome, and Nikita was hardly great. Luger was a smart worker in '89, both in the way he got heat on himself and his opponent. Again, being around other great workers helped him, but he was down-right awesome in his own right, and is probably one of the forgotten workers from that era, mainly because of what he did in the ten years afterwards.

As for Cena, I'd say the Luger comparison is fair, but not in the way it was intended. Cena has a very basic offense, but knows how to use it to get the full effect, so moves that are normally used as filler seem very important and get a good reaction from the crowd. If he's given time, he could become quite the awesome worker.

Yeah, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't something I could watch twice and still be entertained.

You got to witness Ric Flair vs Terry Funk in a retirement match? Now THAT is something...
