Guest Youth N Asia Posted August 13, 2002 Report Posted August 13, 2002 Every time I see Flair take a high backdrop or a top rope press slam I cringe up every time right before he lands...he always does that little sideway turn and looks like he's going on his side every time. Granted, he seems to come out alright...but still looks like a wreck waiting to happen every time
Guest Cubbie78 Posted August 13, 2002 Report Posted August 13, 2002 I wouldnt worry, hes been doing that for a hell of a long time now...His back has been shit since he broke it in the plane crash in 75, and its gotten really bad the last ten years or so, so when he takes a back bump,. he goes sideways, no big deal
Guest ShooterJay Posted August 13, 2002 Report Posted August 13, 2002 I think even as early as 1992 he was taking back bumps on his side, come to think of it, I can't really think of any Flair match when he hasn't done them like that. (Although, I've never seen any Flair matches pre- '91)
Guest Mad the Swine Posted August 13, 2002 Report Posted August 13, 2002 Flair used to (late 1970s) land moreso on his upper back, breaking his fall with both elbows. At least since the mid-1980s, he's broken his fall with his arm and then landed sideways. Hey, it's managed to get him through (nearly) 27 years. Whatever works, works.
Guest The Tino Standard Posted August 13, 2002 Report Posted August 13, 2002 Every time Flair takes a bump like that, I fear he's going to break a hip. Of course, his screams of pain to accompany the bump always make it seem worse than it is. Still, he IS 50-something...
Guest DrainYou42 Posted August 13, 2002 Report Posted August 13, 2002 Well, look at it this way, at least he can still bump, unlike some people (I'm looking at you Hulk) And I'm sure if he wasn't comfortable doing the bumps he wouldn't so whatever.
Guest Brian Posted August 13, 2002 Report Posted August 13, 2002 It's the superman type bumping Dallas Page used to do before he got criticized.
Guest Just call me Dan Posted August 13, 2002 Report Posted August 13, 2002 Oh god don't even bring that travesty up. And did you guys see the powerbomb bump Hogan took from Brock? Holy shit that was a clean bump never thought he'd take.
Guest Ram Posted August 13, 2002 Report Posted August 13, 2002 What do you mean "superhero" bump? It's been a long time since I've even seen a DDP WCW match.
Guest Brian Posted August 13, 2002 Report Posted August 13, 2002 They bump on the side of their back rather than flat, and the WWE referred to it as superman bumping when they told DDP not to do it.
