The Undertaker

The more I think about it the more I'm starting to like The Undertaker. In the past several months he has had some pretty decent matches, a good title run, and helped put other wrestlers over. I think that he has done everything right for the past several months. His title reign was probably the best of his career in my opinion, he has seemed quite motivated in the ring, and he has done a great deal for Jeff Hardy and Tommy Dreamer. When Taker interrupted that Dreamer eats crazy things segment and had a match with a pretty un-over Dreamer he got the fans to finally care about Tommy Dreamer while still establishing himself as a badass world champion. Then during the WWE's big attempt to finally get Jeff Hardy over as a singles wrestler The Undertaker was finally able to push him over the top. During a simple two week program with Hardy, Jeff was established as a young guy who will never give up, and came very close to winning the championship. Many other top stars would likely have refused to work with both Hardy and Dreamer at those stages in their careers. He may not have been the greatest wrestler, and he may not have always done the right thing, he sure has been done everything right these past few months. If he is planning on retiring soon, I hope we all remember the way he went out, which is the way every aging wrestler should.

ugh....

i always end up arguing against posts like this, and it makes me look like a Taker hater, which im not. :)

but,

Seriously Taker hasn't put over anyone yet, IMO.

Tommy Dreamer?????!!!!!!

He beat the guy in about 2 minutes, and humiliated him. The thing that got Dreamer "over" (If he even is over) is beating the shit outta Stevie Richards with a cane.

Jeff Hardy?!

he was elevated soooo much by Taker, that he is probably gonna be fueding with his brother again. He looked like Taker's bitch to me.

It is good that taker is even in the ring with these guys, though

good call on taker's conduct over the last few months. he had a decent final run as champion and i think he put some of the younger talent over pretty well. unfortunately, his final run will be remembered as the guy that treated diamond dallas page like a bitch and was one of the prime selfish reasons the potentially greatest angle ever fell flat on its ass. but hey, well done for having a match with randy orton. bloody good career, now don't let the door hit you on the way out.

I gotta go with Bionic on this one. Taker hasn't put too many people over. Bionic's examples are proof. If you think Test is walking out of SS with a clean win (or even a tainted one) over Taker, you are seriously mistaken.

Taker's been great lately, but If it looks like Test is winning at Summerslam, I will find away into the arena (Tickets sold out, god damnit) jump the railing, and break up the pin myself.

The list of WORLD CHAMPIONS that have clean wins over Taker are fucking low. I don't think Angle, Hunter, Rock, or even Austin have beaten Taker clean, but you want TEST to?

Austin beat 'Taker clean at SummerSlam '98. Well, he used a low blow, but still. Anyways, I'm hoping for a 'Taker squash.

Austin beat Taker clean like 5 times or something.

Austin beat him clean at Summerslam 1998, but you are right about the others.

EDIT: Beat me to it.

Wow. What a suprise.

I guess in this age you can count low blow as clean, I didn't though, only because it directly affected the finish.

Well maybe he hasn't put them over, but he has worked with some lower card talent and maybe helped to change the fans' perception of him. Maybe I should have used a better choice of words. He has done what is asked of him and had some pretty good matches which is good enough for me.

With the exception of Summerslam, I can't think any other clean Austin wins. Taker beat Austin clean a couple of times, though.

Okay maybe not 5.

But Austin beat him clean on RAW for the title the night after King OF The Ring 1999.

And Taker got Austin at A Cold Day in Hell.

Was the night after KotR clean? I was in my heavy anti-Austin days, and I remember cursing the WWF and Paul Bearer after the match. Was there botched Bearer-ference?

There was Bearer interference, but it didn't lead to the win. He clocked Austin with the urn I think, Austin kicked out, match went on for a few more minutes then Austin won clean.

If I remember right.

The Urn wasn't around in 99. He had the ether rag in 99

Dreamer got the shit kicked out of him and has forced to down Taker's chaw. Jeff Hardy had the shit kicked out of him, and in that ladder match there were very few people who really felt Taker was in any danger of losing.

I don't hate Taker, but I find his current character boring, even if a lot of the marks like him. Oh--and the "Undertweener" tag has been well earned.

Taker doesn't put that many people over, we know that. I have found his work more entertainign at some points this year than others. He now only interests me when he's against the young underdog guys actually, like orton, maven and hardy. I'm not tooo bothered if he doesn't put them over all the time, as long as he sells. wouldn't kill him to get rolled up now and again though. But 'midcard miserable old midcard bastard IN THE MIDCARD' is certainly where i want him right now.
