Guest Down Below Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Hogan To Miss Considerable TV Time, More On Missing Australian Tour Brock Lesnar's utter destruction of Hulk Hogan seems to be Hogan's last WWE TV appearance for quite some time. Knee and back problems worsening, Hogan asked for some time off, and the injury angle was a perfect way to get Hogan off TV and Lesnar over as a monster. Hogan is not yet scheduled to return to TV, and it's unknown whether it will be in a few weeks or a few months. Hogan's match with Vince McMahon has been penciled in for Wrestlemania X9, although it's not set in stone. WWE's official stance on Hogan missing the Australian tour is that Hogan's back couldn’t take two 20 hour plane rides, and he wanted to spend his August 11th birthday with his family. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 So Smackdown gets Kane? Or maybe they pull my RVD IC title trick. either way...I think one of those guys goes to SD! soon.
Guest RickyChosyu Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 aka, "Getting Over Without Trying, 101" "Leave with an 'injury' (legitimacy not an issue), return, and the fans will welcome you back into their hearts." Hogan should know, he wrote that fucking book.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 So Smackdown gets Kane? Or maybe they pull my RVD IC title trick. either way...I think one of those guys goes to SD! soon. Yeah, but which one is the one who needs Crowd In A Can? =b And Ricky, the guy is 49. If Flair was removed with an injury, I'd believe him. Hogan seems to have changed for the better, so I'm inclined to believer him here. Although if you're right and this is just a sympathy thing, then fuck 'em. I don't see WHY he would do that though. It's not like the guy thinks he need to be protected since he's jobbing left and right.
Guest DJ Jeff Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Well, now that Hogan is out of action, it looks as if someone from RAW will have to defect to Smackdown to take Hogan's place. RVD or Kane would do nicely.
Guest Will Scarlet Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 I think it is a great thing that Hogan will be out for awhile. Heck, let him heal up for a bit, then press his last run, and have it end fittingly at Wrestlemania.
Guest saturnmark4life Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 at least this time round he's not champion when he starts no-showing.
Guest HartFan86 Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 I think this will make good time for Hogan to come back at the Rumble, feud with Vince, and finish his carrer off at Wrestlemania 19...though I think it would be more of a better thing if he did it at WM 20...you always don't get your way.
Guest The Tino Standard Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Hogan is 49. He's been wrestling with a huge knee brace on. You can see him favoring his back in just about every match. He's also been willing to put over everybody he's been asked to put over (Rock, Undertaker, Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar). Basically what I'm saying here is that it seems like the guy has tried to do the right thing since he's returned to WWE. His track record has been spotty in the past, but this run has actually been a good showing for him as a company man. Right now, he's old and certainly injury-prone. The evidence of said injuries is right there. By no means am I a Hogan mark, but even I, for once, have to say "leave the man alone." Let the guy heal up, make his big run to close it out and beat up Vince McMahon at WM19.
Guest bob_barron Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Vince v. Hogan is gonna draw huge and should be a fun and entertaining match
Guest Shaved Bear Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 let hogan rest anyway, he does kinda clog SD!
Guest RickyChosyu Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Oh Lord. I know that he's 49, broken down, and jobbing left and right. That's why he needs to leave; once Hogan loses his "aura" of invincibility against all odds, he has absolutely nothing to give to the fans or anyone. So, he pulls this injury angle stuff, comes back around the Rumble, and then everyone's like "Hey, that Hogan dude!! I sure missed him!! Hulk STILL Rules!!! 4 Life!!!" He did this all the time in WCW, because after the Goldberg job, his aura was gone, and he had to keep leaving and then returning to get the fans to actually care about him. That's what seperates a guy running on nostalgia value and a guy who's actually there to draw fan interest.
Guest Quik Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Wow, why couldn't this happen when he wasn't jobbing and kept putting himself over so we could laugh at him?
Guest The Amazing Rando Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 i don't think Kane needs Canned Heat...because every time his "The Fire Still Burns" thing appears I mark out like crazy.... and I've always been a Kane fan anyway
Guest jester Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Since Hogan has been wrestling the same match and cutting the same promo for about 20 years now, can't they just slip in a video of a match? A lot post production and I doubt anybody would notice.

It'll work for Kane when he returns, it worked (briefly) when HHH returned and it was the perfect re-charge for Austin when he came back from his neck injury. Usually the longer the injury/vacation the bigger the pop upon return. Hogan's STILL pretty damn over considering everything that should be diminishing that. If he sits until No Mercy and Survivor Series he should come back just as over as he was after Wrestlemania. My guess is that Hogan will return to challenge Brock for the title.
Guest cabbageboy Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Ah well Hogan is getting old.....I figure he stays around till WM and then beats Vince for his right to retire. It'll be a retirement match with a weird stip: if Hogan WINS he retires. Kane isn't going to SMDN, he doesn't fit in with the roster at all. Remember, Kane usually doesn't stay over for long unless he's involved with UT. I'm not sure RVD moving to SMDN is a good idea all around. It would hurt Raw a great deal though it does provide several cool matchups for SMDN. No more Mr. Monday Night then however.

Have a doctor come inand tell Hulk that if he doesn't retire like yesterday, he's going to be in a wheelchair. Hulk reluctantly accepts this advice, the faces are sympathetic. Understanding the circumstances, Stephanie prepares to release Hogan from his contract, and he gives a tearful farewell promo. Enter Vince, who blasts Stephanie for the decision and overrules her, telling Hogan that he's not going anywhere, and unless he wrestles McMahon will sue and Hogan will retire without a dime. Add a few matches were Hogan seems to be getting more and more injured, and more and more at risk, making Vince look like an evern bigger ass than usual. Finally, Hogan snaps and creams Vince, setting up the Vince vs Hogan match at WMX8.
Guest Just call me Dan Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 They really should have some kind of viginette where Hogan is hospitalized and asked to retire, and he leaves his future up in the air. Brock can gloat and gloat about retiring. The fans won't know whether or not he'll be back and his name will just be mentioned every now and then to spark interest, until Vince calls him out and he comes out mega over around Rumble time to set up his retirement match at Wrestlemania X-9 where he demolishes Vince and retires to the incredible roar of the fans.

But just remember, WWE, do NOT make it the 2nd to last match on the card, or the main event, AGAIN, will be the "wow shit, these guys are still gonna go at it? Damn they cant top Hogan" did I REALLY just say damn they cant top Hogan? Well, HHH/Jericho couldnt...
