Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Think about other people's reigns... did any of them have as many constant defenses of the title and good matches as the Rock has had? Even though we all know Brock will win, the Rock's month with the title might make his the best reign yet. Any thoughts?
Guest Anglesault Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Taker's was better, form a creative point. And constant defenses of the title? Uhm, I'm at a loss to think of one right now.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Rock beat Eddy and Benoit both non-title so far. That's about it.
Guest creativename Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 A one month reign is too short. Taker's reign was probably the best so far, much to everyone's surprise. Rock has had the best matches for a champion since Jericho, though. (Taker's match with HHH was just abyssmal)
Guest Bricks Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 It probably just seems like he is because he's been on a good match roll unlike the three previous Undisputed Champions.
Guest myburninghammer Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 The hyperbole was a little much tonight, but the main events have so ruled it since Vengeance...Rock can make bestiality references till the cows come home if he keeps on rockin' it in the ring for, er, the next week.
Guest Anglesault Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Rock also beat Flair non title. He's been in two tag matches. Has he defended it yet? And I'm sorry, but jericho's reign was terrible.
Guest CanadianChick Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 I think that the first 2 monthes of Jericho's reign was good, but the last two monthes more or less sucked.
Guest Austin3164life Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 As much as Rock's matches have improved the ME scene, I don't think his Unified Title reign was the best. The Undertaker's made more sense, whereas even the casual mark knows that The Rock received a title reign simply for ratings.
Guest LJSexay Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Taker had the best one. Second longest, and most deserving I thought.
Guest Bricks Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 And, I'll agree that 'Taker had the best reign of all the Undisputed Champions. Jericho's was longer, but the only thing I can remember about it was him as "Lotion Boy". Damn you Vince!
Guest areacode212 Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Undertaker and Rock both come off well as Undisputed Champions, but the quality of Rock's matches puts him on top. Jericho had some good matches, but he was booked to look like a bitch (when your new heel champion is struggling to get heat, don't have him lose to RVD the same week he wins the belt).
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 I have to agree and say Undertaker. He didn't have the best matches, but he was booked the best.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Shouldn't we wait a little longer before we get into who's-the-best-champ for a belt that's not even a year old yet? But since we are, my vote goes to, surprisingly, 'Taker.
Guest midnight_burn Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 I also have to say the Undertaker's Undisputed title reign has been the best so far. Maybe Rock's could be good if he was going to hold it beyond Summerslam, which looks unlikely.
Guest gwf0704 Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 I think Undertakers title reign was the best as he defended his belt against both heels and faces and faced different styles.
Guest Big McLargeHuge Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 There really hasn't been a stand out Unified(fuck undisputed) Champ yet. Angle could be, The Rock could've been, but he's not really around anymore. A heel HHH may shine. I'm still waiting for Jericho to find his niche as a Savage type character. He may be HHH's jobbing bitch, but at least he'll be over.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Even though they were non-title, he DID beat Flair, Benoit, and Guerrero. Also he was in some good tag matches, and he faces HHH Monday on Raw (I will be there, ha!). I just wish Rock could somehow get by Brock at Summerslam, even if it's a cheap DQ or CO loss... just to keep him around for another month on each show instead of Brockberg.
Guest Downhome Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 I think Jericho is the obvious answer. As for Rocky... ...I think that the fact that he is only going to be champ for a month, and ADD to that, he was out for an ENTIRE week of said month, and it isn't really that great at all. He shows up, promos, and beats all the "up and comers". (Yeah, Benoit made him tap, but that was in a tag match!)
Guest Downhome Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 As far as Jericho goes, just look at what he's done so far. First off, in order to win the belt in the first place, he beat not ONE of the top guys in history, but TWO of them in Rocky and Austin. That right there, says a hell of a lot about his reign. After that, we go to RR where he had a great match against the Rock, to make that the second time he defeated him in a month. Then on to No Way Out, Jericho beat Steve Austin once again, just like he did Rocky! Hell, I've never realized this. They booked Jericho to beat two of the biggest stars ever on the same PPV in order to GET the title, and then at the following two PPV's, they gave him wins over both of them once again, to prove his reign wasn't a fluke. Wow, that's just awesome now that I think about it. Am I a fool for never truly putting that together untill now? :D Add to this his mini-feuds with the likes of RVD and the such, and he had a hell of a reign. Yeah, it went down the sh*tter when the HHH/Steph feud began, but hey, what else was to be expected with that anyhow?
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 The fact that Jericho could barely beat Rock and Austin and was made to look like there bitch was the problem.
Guest SlowChemical6 Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 The Rock is about a week away from losing his title...so, no.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Add to this his mini-feuds with the likes of RVD and the such, and he had a hell of a reign. He was pretty much RVD's bitch during their mini-feud. As far as being the best Undisputed Champion, it's akin to being the biggest Bastion Booger fan. That is, utterly meaningless.
Guest Olympic Slam Posted August 17, 2002 Report Posted August 17, 2002 I really liked Undertaker's title reign. He didn't have it all that long but the guy had a ton of mini-feuds in addition to the PPV stuff, plus he was the first heel since Austin to actually look come off as a dominant force. In terms of star ratings I guess it would be ***. HHH would be -*. Hogan would be *. Jericho's started off great..........but everything after his match against Rock at Royal Rumble kind of went to crap.
Guest Shaved Bear Posted August 17, 2002 Report Posted August 17, 2002 id say Taker, then Jericho, then Rock now worst champ...It's All About the Game
Guest CED Ordonez Posted August 17, 2002 Report Posted August 17, 2002 None of the men who have held the Undisputed belt (Jericho, HHH, Hogan, Taker, Rock) have had really memorable reign, so the question of best ever is moot at this point. Being forced to choose out of the lesser evils though: 5) HHH- Did nothing for the belt. 4) Hogan - Did nothing for the belt either, but the nostagia was there for 15 seconds. 3) Rock - Good matches with the strap and could raise up higher in the champions list, but the expected job to Brock will make him just a transitional champion. Speaking of which... 2) Jericho - Really wish my opinion could be raised about his reign but the waning month or two before losing it to HHH really tarnished it. Yeah yeah, screw you HHH, blah blah blah, holding down Jericho, blah blah blah. 1) 'Taker - Who would've thunk it? It's winning by default on my list though.
Guest claydude14 Posted August 17, 2002 Report Posted August 17, 2002 You do all realize the reason the Undisputed title is worthless is because David Arquette's name is still etched in it, 50% of it. Had they just gotten rid of the big gold belt and continued with the WWF(e) Title, then I don't think there'd be any problem with respect for the belt. It's that'd damned Arquette! I end with this, on behalf of a former WCW champion: Stand back, you, EIGHT LEGGED FREAKS
