Guest BoboBrazil Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Smackdown scored a 3.5 broadcast rating, with a six share, according to Neilsen Media Research. That is way up from last week's 2.7. Of course, last week's show was preempted in the nation's top two markets, NY and LA. 1wrestling.com
Guest TheArchiteck Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 heh damn thats a pretty good jump.
Guest Will Scarlet Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Awesome jump by the WWE. I think I see what is going on here. Funaki not on Smackdown = ratings in the toilet. Funaki on Smackdown = massive ratings jump. It's obvious. FUNAKI=RATINGS.
Guest The Electrifyer Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Its good to see the ratings increase, but I hope the WWE doesn't think its because of Rikishi's being in the main event.
Guest Brian Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 rikishi wasn't in the main event. This show was all about Ben-fuking-Wah.
Guest Just call me Dan Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Smackdown was an excellent show this week, but last week it wasn't so hot. The ratings spike can't be because of the overall product, and the pre-empting didn't help before. I like the show because the majority of its main players are younger and fresh talents whereas Raw gives everyone their fix of the established stars. It's a good mix and an awesome concept that may give the smarks what they ,in theory, want (new stars pushed) on Smackdown and the marks what they, in theory, want (the people they know on TV)on Raw. I really enjoyed the show and enjoy the feuds on there so I'm pleasantly surprised by the ratings jump. It was well deserved.
Guest Downhome Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 I wouldn't get too excited guys, really. Yes it jumped up from last week, but last weeks rating isn't really something you can go on, look at the SD two weeks ago... ...that show pulled in a 3.1. So the rating is bumping up a little, but not as much as it really looks like. Either way though, this is great, great news for WWE!
Guest Angle-plex Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 I know a lot of people who are watching Smackdown now because of Rey that weren't watching before.
Guest TestKick Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 It was because of the Lesnar-Rikishi hype. That was the only match announced before the show. Lesnar draws ratings... admit it people.
Guest bob_barron Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 It also could've been the great RAW or the interest in storylines or the lack of John Cena
Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 It's simple: No Hogan = Higher Ratings
Guest Shaved Bear Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 maybe the red hot dvon-batista feud
Guest D'Lo White Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Ref's in blue shirts = ratings.
Guest TestKick Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 You're all making points about what happened on the show, and that can't affect the rating of the actual show. When Hogan was announced he was going to retire, and the show drew a horrible rating... everyone went off on Hogan. Brock-Rikishi was the only thing hyped up for Smackdown, and it drew a good rating... so maybe some people were into this match. I do sense that Lesnar is getting a bigger following every show.
Guest Angle-plex Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 It was because of the Lesnar-Rikishi hype. That was the only match announced before the show. Lesnar draws ratings... admit it people. No.
Guest Austin3164life Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Huge signs in the crowd proclaiming "WATCH RAW" = Ratings.
Guest nWoScorpion Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 3.5 is good how? Remember WWF pulling in 4.8 & 4.9s? I say thats pretty fucking sad.
Guest chirs3 Posted August 17, 2002 Report Posted August 17, 2002 Have you seen the ratings recently, Scorp? 3.5 is phenomenal.
Guest Madmartigan21 Posted August 17, 2002 Report Posted August 17, 2002 Why not get ingnored in TWO ratings related topics in one week? The reason for this week's Smackdown ratings bump, besides the show not being pre-empted in the country's biggest mark, is THE ROCK. He didn't appear on either Raw or Smackdown last week. This week, not only was he on both shows, he was in both MAIN EVENTS. How hard is this to figure out? It shouldn't be too much of a stretch to say that THE ROCK = RATINGS
Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Posted August 17, 2002 Report Posted August 17, 2002 No way, it's Matt (with 2 T's) Hardy who really draws.
Guest nWoScorpion Posted August 17, 2002 Report Posted August 17, 2002 Its because people are tired of watching... FRIENDS. Its on 5 fucking networks within 3 hours here. ENOUGH ALREADY!
Guest meanmaisch Posted August 17, 2002 Report Posted August 17, 2002 Let us not forget that the show was pre-empted in New York and Los Angeles last week. Those are the two biggest markets in the U.S.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted August 17, 2002 Report Posted August 17, 2002 I bet the ratings would be even higher if Stephanie wasn't the GM..
