Guest Shaved Bear Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 did anyone find him particularly unfunny last night, I mean during the mud match it was the usual nonsense, but when Fozzy was performnig and starting talking during the performance, he was very fucking annoying, who else agrees?
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 You're just noticing this *last night*?
Guest Shaved Bear Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 he was always annoying, but last night he was just really irritating, i mean i wanted o actualy break my tv
Guest jimmy no nose Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 They really need a new announce team, problem is they don't have anyone good currently signed.
Guest Shaved Bear Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 They really need a new announce team, problem is they don't have anyone good currently signed. heyman, they just dont use him
Guest notJames Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 Can't help you... as soon as Jericho/Mongoose started singer, I switched the channel. I'm not a metal fan by any means, and really, when I tune in to RAW, I want wrestling. As for Lawler, I wrote him off the day he came back and replaced Heyman. The man is dead to me.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 They could use Jim Cornette.
Guest notJames Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 They could use Jim Cornette. I think he's still busy with OVW. And I'm sure the heat betwixt he and Heyman would come to a head sooner than later. Not to say I wouldn't love every minute of it. I still remember the bickering JR and Heyman did... classic stuff! And it never took away from the matches. I want that kind of chemistry again! With anyone! (sigh)
Guest jimmy no nose Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 They really need a new announce team, problem is they don't have anyone good currently signed. heyman, they just dont use him Wasn't it reported that Heyman didn't really want to announce and wanted to focus more on booking or something? Plus him and JR have problems. Maybe if they could get a replacement for JR, that's where the problem is, no one is there to replace JR.
Guest notJames Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 I think the real problem stems from not adhering to the roles these guys are given. JR and Cole are play-by-play men, but most of what comes out of their mouths is shilling anything but the match. Rarely do I ever hear a consistent calling of moves and in-ring action apart from maybe the PPVs... Cole especially. Lawler and Tazz are colour commentators. They essentially play on whatever the PBP guys say, and flesh out the wrestlers and matches by giving background info, interesting tidbits, etc. All Lawler and Tazz do is make stupid jokes that add nothing to the commentary. The fact that they've gone away from the traditional heel-friendly attitude just makes it that much more unbearable. I will say that Tazz is improving, but I can't get around the fact that he can praise both Benoit and Mark Henry with the same inflection and enthusiasm. I won't even comment on the B-shows, except to say that Cole is even worse as a slightly edgy colour guy, and the "chemistry" between Coach and D'Lo make me want to vomit. This business needs an overhaul, from the top to the bottom. If their TV product is ever going to improve, they need to do something about the guys behind the mikes.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 notjames do I have permission to mail that to the WWE's suggestion thingy? Cause those were my sentimates exactly.
Guest notJames Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 notjames do I have permission to mail that to the WWE's suggestion thingy? Cause those were my sentimates exactly. No problemo. Just make sure to spell my name right. As for finding Joey Styles, the WW_ corporate machine would snip his balls off from the start and turn him into Michael Cole v2.0. No way would they let him shoot off the rapid-fire move calls and shoot comments without at least an 80-20 trade-off on shilling either the Main Event match, the upcoming PPV, HHH's new DVD, Stouffer's Lean Cuisine, Stacker 2002, the XBox, the latest crappy cross-promotional movie, and of course, JR's BBQ sauce.
Guest jimmy no nose Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 find Joey Styles Last time they offered him a job he turned them down because he makes more money at his real job then he would from the WWE.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 find Joey Styles so he could scream about the rvd matches like a 12 yr old boy going thru puberty? no thanks.
Guest Human Fly Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 I think Cyrus (or Callis, Jackyl, whatever you prefer) would make a good heel color man. To either JR or Michael Cole. I've always heard he has heat, but have never heard what for.
Guest jester Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 Bring back Jesse! I would love to hear him rip on Hogan again. Could you have imagined what would have happened if he'd been around during the stalled motorcycle incident?
Guest thebigjig Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 Bring back Jesse! It's possible... he's not running for gov again. I'd love to see Jesse back
Guest Shaved Bear Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 i still hate Lawler more than Cole, Tzz, and JR
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 Still when Lawler said "Ric Flair has killed rock and roll!" I laughed my ass off....it was his one funny line a month.
Guest Austin3164life Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 Jesse "The Body" Ventura is the answer. Since he isn't running for governor and he probably has nothing else to do, seeing him make fun of J.R. and really stick with the heels and sell a match would be a nice solution. Isn't there heat between Vince and Jesse?
Guest TheBostonStrangler Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 Personally, I think Ross would really make a great color man. A team of Mike Tenay and Jim Ross would have a lot of potential, in my opinion. Lawler is average...I honestly don't care what they do with him. But I say they start looking into hiring legit announcers. I mean, Schiavone didn't work out all that well, but it's worth trying again. Try finding some real, honest-to-goodness announcers that have a clue about the industry, and train 'em for three or four months (Watching all the shows and playing a lot of Fire Pro would be enough, really). Then you have a good PBP guy to go with Ross on color, which would be a great team.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 The Body is one of my all time favorite commentators.
Guest Blue Bacchus Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 I kinda thought that Lawler had toned it down last night as opposed from the past two weeks. But I agree with the masses, Lawler adds nothing to the product but only detracts from it. His talking through Fozzy's song took something away from their performance (Although some would argue the performance was already questionable). Styles and Calis would be cool but both are very unlikely. I always liked Scott Hudson, Dusty Rhodes, and (Go ahead and clobber me) Tony Schiavone. Heyman is great as Color but most marks hate him. And JR has too many "Senior" moments during a broadcast. If only they let 'Bisch' join them for 3-Man commentary. Or at least bring back Mongo I won't even comment on Cole.
Guest Downhome Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 They need to hire Dan "The Dragon" Wilson damnit.
Guest AndrewTS Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 Or at least bring back Mongo Okay, Lawler is bad, but THAT bad?! I don't think so.
Guest TheBlurricane Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 Bring back Mongo where he can go off about "Farm Implements" again??? No thanks. They need either: Joey Styles, Joel Gertner, Don Callis, Mike Tenay, Dusty Rhodes, or Jesse Ventura. Too bad Bobby Heenan has throat cancer. Get well soon Bobby!! The thing with Ventura is when he did some small commentary back around the time of SummerSlam 99 he spent more time making comments about Vince because of his Legitimate heat with him, than he did commentating. Plus I don't think he totally agrees with a lot of what happens in wrestling nowdays. I couldn't see him commentating on a Bra and Panties match. I think Tenay is happy with his job in NWA:TNA right now so he probably won't do it. Same with Joel Gertner.
Guest Ravenbomb Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 man...I miss Raven doing commentary...
Guest Angle-plex Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 The answer is obviously Stevie Ray.
Guest The Czech Republic Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 The best teams the WWF have had will always be Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan, with Monsoon/Ventura a close second. We need more Gordon Solies or Gorilla Monsoons and fewer Michael Coles and Mark Loyds. Blame Kevin Dunn. And to go with the consensus, yes, Lawler shuld be taken out back and shot, preferably by Molly Holly.
