Guest Chuck Woolery Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 Why the hell is he calling himself the 'King of the World'? Larger than Life, Living Legend... that all made sense, but King of the World? Sure, it's egotism.. but it's bad, horrible egotism, and even worse writing. Someone needs to be fired for taking away Larger than Life and Living Legend. - Mike Van Siclen.

Guest SuperTonyJaymz Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 I actually like it, though he should jump on the turnbuckle, arms raised and scream it. heh...jeircho rules. god im a mark being a mark rules lol
Guest Just call me Dan Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 Looks like Zbysko won, afterall.
Guest Austin3164life Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 The "Larger than Life" moniker suited Jericho the best. He sounds like an annoying kid with the "King of the World" phrase.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 "King of the world" was added to his repitoire after losing the title. I think the idea was he was slowly going nuts after WM, where big strong beefy babyface Hunter made good and squashed him harder than a bouler falling off the Empire State Building while still only selling minimal offense. Hn. I wonder how that was booked.
Guest chirs3 Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 I like "Larger than life living legend" better, but "King of the World" works just fine for me.
Guest art_vandelay Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 The whole "dragging out the last word of each sentence" shtick is really getting stale. Jericho's promos haven't annoyed me as much as they did last night in a very long time. The Fozzy performance made up for it, though. Seriously, ne needs to leave the played-out catchphrases to The Rock. Jericho is capable of so much more.
Guest JaKyL25 Posted August 21, 2002 Report Posted August 21, 2002 I never really thought much about "The King of the World!" catchphrase, since IIRC, Kanyon did it first, but Raw sold me on it. The amount of times that Jericho said it, and just the way he said it, actually had me believing that he truly believed he WAS the King of the World. I like the idea that his monstrous ego had to find something to replace the Undisputed Championship with, especially during the slump he's been in since Mania, so he just convinced himself that he's the King of the World in order to avoid going completely insane.
Guest TheArchiteck Posted August 21, 2002 Report Posted August 21, 2002 Hmmmmmm....I don't like the King of World thing. Too cliche'.
Guest midnight_burn Posted August 21, 2002 Report Posted August 21, 2002 I don't mind the King of the World stuff, there's certainly worse stuff he could be saying.
Guest Raven_Effect01 Posted August 21, 2002 Report Posted August 21, 2002 The two things I don't like about the "King of the World" catchphrase is: 1.He sounds like an egotistical kid 2.He got it from that box office failure "Rocky & Bullwinkle"(the movie) of all things
Guest Sinner Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 Honestly though- he is saying it to be a heel, so people get annoyed. Obviously its working.
Guest AndrewTS Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 It reminds me of how Sid would yell... I AM THE MASTER, AND THE RULER, OF THE WOOORLD!! Then he'd laugh insanely. I was a kid then, so I actually liked Sid because he was funny. Of course, if you saw WCW when they had him, he was still funny, saying that he had half the brain Nash did. For the sadistic, the fucked up pump kick is worth a few chuckles.
Guest art_vandelay Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 Honestly though- he is saying it to be a heel, so people get annoyed. Obviously its working. Anyone is capable of X-Pac heat.
Guest Raven_Effect01 Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 Honestly though- he is saying it to be a heel, so people get annoyed. Obviously its working. But the catchphrase just sucks, it's not hilarious, it sounds like something some egotistical 8 year old boy would say.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 it sounds like something some egotistical 8 year old boy would say. HHH probably wants Jericho to sound like an annoying 8 yr old boy, and then get beaten like one too.
