Guest FeArHaVoC Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 John Cena Losing His Push -John Cena is having his push scaled back by WWE simply due to the fact that Vince McMahon wants it that way. WWE has a habit of pushing rookies big upon their debut, then scaling it back before pushing them hard again down the line. Credit: 1wrestling.com
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 And this is why the fans don't buy into them as threats when WWE trys to finally push the Wrestler.
Guest TestKick Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 WWE should learn to do it the other way... because when Cena, and Brock Lesnar even more, get pushed down... they are gonna be worthless.
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 WWE should learn to do it the other way... because when Cena, and Brock Lesnar even more, get pushed down... they are gonna be worthless. Exactly. After immediately being thrust against the two top heels of Smackdown, all the while interacting with the World Champion, there was simply no other direction to go but down for Cena. I'd have rather seen a slow build UP the card.
Guest mickberna Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 Meh. Cena's character sucked anyway. I'd like to see him wrestle some more and see how he develops, but not as another Randy Orton "rookie" character.
Guest notJames Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 Boo hoo. See how fast I register my outrage on the I [heart] The Rookie John Cena Fan Club Webpage... Maybe they're making room for The Rookie Shelton Benjamin to get a monster push. Affirmative Action rules!
Guest bob_barron Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 No more push for Cena???????? WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO- HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Guest Nevermortal Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 Halleluia. Finally, some holding down I can agree with.
Guest converge241 Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 7 posts and no mention of ***? im a little surprised id like to see Shelton or Ohaire get the mega-rookie-push myself
Guest Youth N Asia Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 After Brock wins the title...and eventually loses it...then goes through the re-match/#1 contender process...where's he go...they hyped him so much that in a few years when he's jobbing regualr it's gonna look weird. They should have brough Cena in with some character...looks like he's finally getting that now. Done right I could see Cena being big one day...he shouldn't have been giving Angle and Jericho hard matches this early
Guest notJames Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 7 posts and no mention of ***? ***? Colour me confused... Benjamin, maybe. But that spinning kick is a bit contrived. I mean, it all hinges on someone catching his original kick and spinning him around. How often are people going to fall for that? And O'Haire? Maybe, if he could learn to move a little faster and not look so lost in the ring. He's got a decent look and a nice finisher. Too bad Brock stole the F-5 from him...
Guest Nevermortal Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 And O'Haire? Maybe, if he could learn to move a little faster and not look so lost in the ring. He's got a decent look and a nice finisher. Too bad Brock stole the F-5 from him... Who needs the F-5 when he's got the Cruel Intentions? That's my new favorite finisher. I think O'Haire might be getting a push because they've given him Neurotica as his entrance theme, and usually when you get an actual band doing your thene, you might be on the way up.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 To be fair to O'Haire (cue up "Fair to Flair" LOL), he hasn't exactly been in the ring w/ anything special (Credible, Stasiak). But yes, he has been moving noticably slower ever since the WWE got their hands on him. They've bulked him up, slowed him down, and grounded him. Damn you, WWE, I want WCW O'Haire ::shakes fist::
Guest Angle-plex Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 WWE should learn to do it the other way... because when Cena, and Brock Lesnar even more, get pushed down... they are gonna be worthless. Like Test? I'm glad that Cena's push is being held back. I didn't find him as an exceptional wrestler or entertainer.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 Meh. Cena's character sucked anyway. I'd like to see him wrestle some more and see how he develops, but not as another Randy Orton "rookie" character. Randy who? It seems like every month lately there's a new "rookie" who takes wrestling by storm with a wide variety of spinebusters and DDTs. maybe wide variety was an exageration, but I'm tired of seeing Maven clones getting pounded then getting a rollup while Cole goes "What a HUGE upset!" And who the hell thinks to themselves "well, since it worked so well for Maven..."

And before someone thinking they're cute chimes in, what STR said was pretty darn accurate, and it was NOT what people had in mind when they said they wanted to see new talent elevated.

You can't be a rookie sensation without going to the Randy Orton school of wrestling.
Guest Angle-plex Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 I don't know what you guys are talking about, Randy Orton is a better wrestler than Lou Thez. [/WWE Mode]
Guest The Czech Republic Posted August 23, 2002 Report Posted August 23, 2002 And better looking than George Clooney. I think Bob Sr. killed Randy's credibility.
Guest midnight_burn Posted August 23, 2002 Report Posted August 23, 2002 I don't mind a decreased push for Cena, maybe when they stop calling him a rookie and give him some sort of character i'll care about him.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted August 23, 2002 Report Posted August 23, 2002 Ahhh... Cena, Cena, Cena. I'm all for a decreased push, as long as he stays the hell off my show! Seriously though, when Cena goes up against midcarders or guys that aren't the WWE's best workers, it's obvious that he's really nothing special. I hate to say it, but he didn't show me he deserved that push at all, particularly the one-sided feud against Jericho. John Cena is the future of Smackdown....'s jobbing midcard
Guest Will Scarlet Posted August 23, 2002 Report Posted August 23, 2002 No more Cena push? But he has ruthless aggression! Has that campaign gone the way of Desire already?
Guest Ozymandias Posted August 23, 2002 Report Posted August 23, 2002 But does he still have his smile? Tell me he isn't losing his smile too??!!!
Guest Austin3164life Posted August 23, 2002 Report Posted August 23, 2002 I think Cena's tights are holding him down. No, really, those are some TIGHT tights (not that I was staring)....
Guest Will Scarlet Posted August 23, 2002 Report Posted August 23, 2002 Yeah. A main eventer wearing powder blue tights just would never work.
