Guest Redhawk Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 1) Babyfaces can play to the crowd, but heels must be strictly business -- Matt Hardy gets called out for "grandstanding" and "showboating," yet the announcers don't say anything when The Rock does the People's Elbow or when Scotty 2 Hotty does the Worm. When Booker T was a heel, JR hated the Spinarooni, and now he loves it. 2) "Not this way!" -- If a heel wins by using a chair or something else it's a crime, but Billy Kidman's OK for using one on Kurt Angle and Lita can cheat all the damn time and it's fine. There are many others; those were just the top two.
Guest jester Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 Actually, these two things are good for HEEL commentators to do. Jesse Venture, God of the Heel Commentators, would always justify the heels ambushing someone, using foreign objects, and other shady tactics. And then he would blast the same tactics if the faces used them. It didn't matter if the heel had already done 12 run-ins to a face's one run-in, Ventura would always say something like "What right does Hogan have to interfere?" The hypocrisy was ok, because heels were hypocrates. That's one of the things that made the heels. What we have is are two commentators who are mostly face commentators, sometimes heel commentator, and almost always lousy commentators.
Guest Ozymandias Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 Announcers don't wear habits, only nuns do. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get it?
Guest Trivia247 Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 they need a straight heel commentator, they haven't had one since Lawler became a Whiny goofy 24/7 horny dirty old man. they need someone of Heyman Calibur.
Guest redbaron51 Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 i hate how they hype up the same damn thing every two minutes
Guest The Metal Maniac Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 I hate how their tone of voice gives away things. IE - If JR is ever positive something will happen, it won't happen. Look back at the DX "re-union". JR hyped it as such a great thing, you knew it wasn't going down.
Guest Redhawk Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 I've never got the whole "[Heel] is trying to soften up [Face] for his big match on Sunday." I mean, how often does that softening up really come into play on Sunday?
Guest Brian Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 I don't mind Michael cole as much. especially at the pay per view, it's rather refreshing hearing an announcer put over the lower card matches and Tazz actuallly tries to build off the psychology.
Guest Frankie Williams Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 Vince: ONE..TWO.... HE GOT HIM, HE GOT HIM....NO HE DIDNT. Michael Cole every 5 minutes: RIGHT HERE ON SMACKDOWN!!!
Guest Kid Kablam Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 Actually, these two things are good for HEEL commentators to do. Jesse Venture, God of the Heel Commentators, would always justify the heels ambushing someone, using foreign objects, and other shady tactics. The hypocrisy was ok, because heels were hypocrates. That's one of the things that made the heels. What we have is are two commentators who are mostly face commentators, sometimes heel commentator, and almost always lousy commentators. And that right there is the problem, they're tweeners. Okay, not Michael Cole, he's a 24/7 pussy boy, but not likeable in any way. But Tazz needs to A) Take it ot Michael Cole, declare the anouncer's table HIS goddamn territory, and bitch out Michael Cole any chance he gets. B) Point out the OBVIOUS. When Lita comesin with her top rope head scissors (It's not a hurricanrna to be a nitpicking asshole) point out that she's cheating. C) Use his maniachal laugh Other than that I don't mind Tazz. But they hve got to get rid of that pussy Michael Cole. I don't like his voice even. I mean, Schiovane's voice I could at least take, but Cole's is just annoying.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 I just hate when they talk about the Main Event during undercard matches. That bothers me to no end, as it buries the undercard guys in the fans' eyes. Cole is a pretty bad announcer, but they can make him better. Sit him in a room with Jim Cornette and have him watch tapes all day, then he'll know what move is which (I hate a hurricanrana being called a headscissors takedown) and their history. Tazz is fine by me.
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 GOD yes, I HATE "not this way!!" JR is bad enough, but when other announcers TRY and copy his style, it makes me want to shoot myself. This is especially so for one Michael Cole. Thank you for pointing out the Lita thing. JR NEVER pointed out how she would cheat in every match, and as a result I ended up detesting Lita with a passion, especially during the Alliance angle. I hate it how there's no heel announcers. I can tell Tazz tries to be one sometimes but then he ends up sounding like a hypocrite as he goes back to hyping a face. Finally, I hate it when King asks JR directly to explain his backward phrases, and JR justs ignores him.
Guest thebigjig Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 Exaggerating heights... By GAWD he through him off of that 30 ft. (when in reality 15 ft) cage!
Guest gizmo Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 "Exaggerating heights... By GAWD he through him off of that 30 ft. (when in reality 15 ft) cage!" . lol, on nwa-tna week 10 the truth hits a top rope leg drop, don west "The truth drops his 240 lbs from 25 ft in the air!!!." Pffff... it was 9 ft if hes lucky.
Guest D'Lo White Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 I hate when they say this is the biggest main event in Raw/Smackdown history. There sure has been alot of biggest main events in history.
Guest AndrewTS Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 "...SICKENING THUD!" -- JR or Cole "That DAMN (foreign object) shot by that DAMN (heel)" -- JR or Cole (see also "THOSE DAMN DUDLEYZ") "Who's your daddy!" -- JR. Does he know what that means? Where did he get that from? (cue Brad Shaw joke)
Guest Renegade Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 JR: "*insert name* just ran like a SCALDED DAWG!" I hate it when he says that.
Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 Any announcer: "WHAT IS THIS? I DON'T BELIEVE THIS!!! THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING!!" Like when Jericho debuted on Raw and for two minutes JR's like "What's going on? What's happening?" Pisses me off to no end.
Guest Redhawk Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 I also hate the "Well, so-and-so wasn't scheduled to be out here," as if the fake RAW schedule would actually say, "So-and-so talks to the fans for approximately 15 minutes." And if so-and-so REALLY wasn't scheduled to be out there, why didn't Bischoff or someone kick their asses out of the ring or cut their mic? And if they REALLY weren't supposed to be out there, than why does every show neatly wrap up in 2 hours all the time? Was there a midcard match that they decided to scrap BECAUSE so-and-so's interview took time away from the show? I want answers. Another is when someone runs-in and the announcers act confused. Cole is the worst at this. Let's say Rey Mysterio is wrestling Chavo. When Kurt Angle, who we all know hates Rey, comes down the ramp, there's no need to say, "What's he doing out here?" We all know he's here to beat Rey's ass, idiot.
Guest redbaron51 Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 sometimes its best to watch it mute
