Watching SummerSlam With Marks

I just thought you guys should hear what happened to me while watching SummerSlam. I was at a friends house and he had a ton of people over to watch SummerSlam. 1st match Rey v. Mysterio, i'm cheeering for angle and saying how much he needs a win and how Mysterio really isn't in his leauge. Some fat kid looks at me and says, "Angle Sucks!, Hes boring, and gay!." This was the way the whole room felt. Then during Edge v. Eddy, I freaked out when i saw Edge no sell the shoulder and go for the Spear. Everyone then proceeded to tell me how bad Eddy sucked and how all those arm moves did nothing. And Benoit RVD, I damn near killed some little fat kid cuz he told me that RVD was better becuase submission moves are gay.

I wholly endorse the shooting of human beings who are that dumb. I mean, seriously, even when I was a kid I was never that stupid about wrestling. I was a little mark sure, but I never disliked anyone JUST BECAUSE they were the heel. If they did heelish things instead of being told "boo this guy," I disliked them.

 

And I have always loved submission moves, knowing how to apply a figure four since I was, well, four!

This, ladies and gentlemen, is a prime example of the results of submissions being killed off. Wasn't WWE supposed to be reverting to a more "submission-based" style? When Edge and RVD are no-selling injuries, that kind of defeats the purpose, no?

I don't blame them for thinking submission moves are gay.. when Rock can be in a crossface for 2-3 minutes and not tap, and just about EVERYBODY can take the Anklelock for 2-3 minutes and not tap.. The way WWF has treated them, how are they any different from sleeper holds, really?

Hey, RVD did sell the shoulder last night....Edge is the one who no sold it.

 

To be honest I can see their point of view on the submission stuff. I felt that way to some extent last night as well. I mean, why would Angle just suddenly get Rey to tap after Rey had easily countered the ankle lock a couple minutes earlier? And speaking of gay, Jericho looked really gay tapping out to a figure 4...hell no one has tapped to that in 15 years!

 

Submission wrestling is not over anymore because no one has a finisher that is actually, you know, the FINISH. Problem is, if Angle (or whoever) starts getting wins with the anklelock all of a sudden it makes his opponent look even worse because everyone knows the anklelock is easy to counter.

Not everybody has to like or appreciate Benoit. Believe it or not, there's a lot of people out there who think he's boring as hell. I'm one of them, too.

 

If anything, some of you are just as bad because of this "Benoit is God" nonsense. So what if the "marks" like different people? Just because you like someone that's more of an Internet Wrestling Community hero dosen't make it right to bash them for NOT liking the guy.

Of course kids are going to say that submissions are gay because WWE CONDITIONS THEM TO THINK THAT WAY!!!

 

WWE kills all credibility of submissions and psychology with it's style. They have not re-educated fans into thinking submissions are cool. Someone had it right when they said that it doesn't help when Rock stays in a crossface or ankle lock for like 2-3 minutes and makes the ropes, only to 2-3 minutes later no sell all of it with a kip up. WWE still adhere's to the rule that no top babyfaces can tap out to a submission. I don't consider Hulk Hogan a top babyface when he put over Angle at KOTR, since all that has been shot to shit because with the exception of last night, no one else has tapped to the ankle lock.

 

 

Way to go WWE, make the fans think submissions are gay!

What I mean is this....RVD did show signs that his shoulder was hurt (like when he rammed Benoit in the corner and grabbed his shoulder) while Edge completely no sold it and even used his bad shoulder to win the match.

I actually enjoyed Summerslam alot while watching with some mark friends of mine. Though i guess they are the cool type of marks, cause they cheered for Eddy Guerro. I love them singing along to angles music.

and yes they Brock afce turn was a success, cause everyone was like "brocks a beast yo!"

 

all in all a hell of a fun night and i won 20 bucks too( bet aginst The Brock? Cha right)

There should be mutiple finishers performed!! Besides the crossface, Benoit should also be doing the sharpshooter or, how should I say it--Cattle Mutilation!! Angle should have definitely slapped the figure four, the Indian deathlock or one of my personal favorites, Terry Funk's twisting ankle lock. As the guy is constantly moving, it is harder to counter. That's how to get finishers over.

 

Another thing is that some wrestlers figured out that submission moves can be modified to great pinning combos. Take Molly for an example. She is not allowed to kill the ladies with the submission moves she knows, so she turned the Indian Deathlock into the Twin city Twister pinning combo (I don't think even Brock can get out of that, unless he is strong and balanced enough to do a complete headstand). And, ironically, the Molly-Go-Round splash finishes into the universal catfighting submission move, the sit-on-chest.

Well, I'll agree that to go after someone who dislikes Benoit is stupid, I think the thing that bothers me about some people is when they decide to say that Benoit sucks. I have no problem with them saying Benoit is boring. I have no problem with them saying that they enjoy other wrestlers more, but when people start throwing around "sucks" and "gay" that's when I have a problem. I mean, I don't mind the whole "Agree to disagree" thing, but when someone starts attacking something unfairly, I will answer them back.
