Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 From 411: Brock Lesnar flew to Florida a few days before Summerslam to work out with the Rock in the ring. Since the Rock doesn't work house shows, there was no real opportunity for the two to practice the Summerslam main event. They wanted to make sure that Brock, who never wrestled in a main event before, was totally prepared for the match. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just thought it was interesting, and you guys might want to discuss.
Guest Ozymandias Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 *mutters* Fucking New Yorkers, fucking ingrate faggots.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 Why? Becasue they booed the shit out of The Rock? I've been doing that since he came back.
Guest BionicRedneck Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 Why? If more main eventers or "locker room leaders" were a selfless as The Rock then the WWE would be much better.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 Why? If more main eventers or "locker room leaders" were a selfless as The Rock then the WWE would be much better. I booed him because he doesn't entertain me.
Guest mickberna Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 I boo him because he spends 75% of his time in LA, and jerks the fans around who pay good money to see him at WWE events. The fans are turning against him, and with good cause.
Guest Si82 Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 Why? If more main eventers or "locker room leaders" were a selfless as The Rock then the WWE would be much better. I totally agree. Like Scott Keith said in the Summerslam rant : "Speaking of action rather than rhetoric, you get the Rock, whose entire purpose as champion is to make Brock Lesnar into a main-eventer. Do you think he whines to Vince about that? Do you think being the biggest star in the business and yet being nothing more than a sacrificial lamb for the Next Big Thing bothers him in the least?" If guys like Triple H and Undertaker would quit bitching about respect and do the job like they are paid to do then the WWE would be better off. The thing that pisses me off is Triple H says he does what is good for business but won't put guys over to create new stars to help business. The man is a fucking asshole! I mean Triple H takes credit for softened up The Rock for Brock Lesnar. Surely it would of been better to get Brock over to have him beat Rock on his own or if he had 'caused the "injury" to the ribs of The Rock instead of Triple H. Now only that but he can't even to a job to his best friend without kicking out of his finisher and then beating him up after the match. The guy sucks and should just do the job or be fired. But he's sleeping with the bosses daughter after all. In a normal workplace you would be fired for refusing to do you job, why should wrestling be any different.
Guest Si82 Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 I boo him because he spends 75% of his time in LA, and jerks the fans around who pay good money to see him at WWE events. The fans are turning against him, and with good cause. Don't gimme this shit. Anyone else, in the same postion as The Rock, would do the same. He has not jerked the fans around. He is not a sell out. He is a smart business man and is doing this for the money. Besides, he stills comes back to the WWE doesn't he. I mean he could quit today and do movies for the rest of his career instead. He doesn't have to comeback for the fans but he does. Anyway, if The Rock appears in a film it gices the WWE more publicity and Vince McMahon more money.
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 *mutters* Fucking New Yorkers, fucking ingrate faggots. ::Gives Cletus a one way Ticket to the Dentist:: How dare you make those comments.
Guest creativename Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 Besides, he stills comes back to the WWE doesn't he. I mean he could quit today and do movies for the rest of his career instead. He doesn't have to comeback for the fans but he does. Don't make it seem as if the Rock still wrestles every few months because of entirely selfless reasons. There exists the chance that the Rock's movie career will not materialize in the way that he wants it to, and I'm sure he's fully aware of that fact. The Rock is simply hedging his bets by not cutting off all ties to wrestling. This way, even if his movie career flops or isn't a huge success, he'll still have some ties to get back into wrestling without losing credibility in the ring. And of course, he probably enjoys wrestling and there's a good chance that--like most athletes--he gets a real high off of the cheering of the fans (SkyDome, Nassau notwithstanding). Most athletes become quite addicted to the screaming of thousands of fans and are loathe to give it up. I do however give the Rock a lot of credit for being a consummate professional. He does sacrifice for the business when it comes to putting over young talent, something Hogan rarely did in his prime, Austin was sometimes reluctant to do, and of course HHH is loathe to do. He has as much stroke as anybody, but doesn't abuse his power nearly as much as most others in his position have.
Guest Anglesault Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 *mutters* Fucking New Yorkers, fucking ingrate faggots. ::Gives Cletus a one way Ticket to the Dentist:: How dare you make those comments. Well, It's not like anything he said was WRONG. I love New York, but come on. People are going to think Brock is over and have him go over people and stuff. Then again, I met John Rocker and he LIKED me...
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 Reason why The Rock was booed: In my opinion, Fans are tired of The Rock and his disapearing Act. He comes back for a couple of Months and he's right back out the Door. Either you stay or You Get The F Out.
Guest El Psycho Diablo Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 Oh, please. Hypocrite. "Stay, or get the F out". At least he shows up when needed, dosen't pull backstage shit, and jobs. If you down a man for wanting to advance his own career, himself, and his/his family's financial well-being..screw you. He's doing NOTHING wrong by going to make movies. In fact, if the reaction he got.."You sold out" was true, I'd leave too. Why put your health, your body, your LIFE on the line if a bunch of ingrate rednecks are going to chant stuff like that at you?
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 God, I hate how everyone now claims to be The Rock biggest Fan when before Summerslam, They couldn't give a damn about him. I'm not saying that I think he should leave, I want him to stay because I happen to be one of his Fans. Come on, Did everyone wake up Sunday Morning and decide to become Brock Lesnar Fans? Ha.
Guest El Psycho Diablo Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 The entire Lesnar face reaction was a reality burp. That's right..you heard me. A reality burp. Those cause the sort of strange unexplainable things..like why does Bull Buchanan have a place on the roster when more talented guys do not?
Guest Sandman9000 Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 Holy shit. Somebody LIKED Anglesault? And it was JOHN MOTHERFUCKING ROCKER of all people? Shit son.
Guest Anglesault Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 Holy shit. Somebody LIKED Anglesault? And it was JOHN MOTHERFUCKING ROCKER of all people? Shit son. Yep, me and John Rocker, as they say in "The Hood", "We be tight."
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 No more Beer should be sold at WWE Events. That's the true reason as to why Brock Lesnar was a Face that night. Drunks.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 Has anyone thought that it's just Overexposed Face Syndrome? Hogan experienced before, and Rock already did once as Rocky Maivia. If constantly booing "the star of The Scorpion King" means that I get back "The Great One" then I'm all for it. Bring on the tacky $500 shirts!
Guest Vitamin X Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 I think the "You Sold Out" chants are quite true, how can you deny that he hasn't? People compare The Rock's situation to having two part-time jobs, but the thing here is that it's really one full-time job with another job that gives him some work when they think he would be good at it. See, The Rock knows that if he went all-out for a movie career, he might not be totally succesful, I mean look at Hogan. He tried to do the same and what did we get? Mr. Nanny and Santa With Muscles! So the Rock goes and walks on the line between both jobs, and really as much as the WWE needs the Rock, they can do fine without him and the plethora of talent they have on the roster. They really just need to retire old men who are hobbled with injuries like Undertaker, Flair, and Hogan, and stop letting HHH pull this stupid politicking bullshit if even half of it is true. And if the Rock wants to go out and make all these movies, leaving and coming back to WWE as he pleases? Would any of your jobs (no matter how talented you are, hey I myself was a pretty valuable pizza delivery driver) let you go and come back as you please as many times as you wanted? Fuck no! Why? Because if you're so valuable to the company, the customers of the company expect quality service which you helped to achieve and be a part of, and you are leaving them because you don't want the risks and want to make more money. Fine. If that's what he wants then the Rock really does need to go on with his life and make some money. But he's not the one who should go back to the WWE "Hey guys how's it going? Mind if I wrestle and main event a couple times, maybe win a title or two?" "Sure Rock! Great to have ya back!" FUCK THAT! The WWE *MADE* The Rock, Hollywood should be the one getting offers turned down not the Rock being fucked out of storylines over and over and over again. This pisses the fans off, it probably pisses Vince off, and most importantly it PISSES ME OFF!
Guest NazMistry Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 I think most people forget that Vince encourages Rock to go to Hollywood, it gives mainstream exposure to the WWE.
Guest bob_barron Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 Damn The Rock for wanting to make more money. Damn him for wanting to helping his family. You guys would do the same damn thing in his position
Guest Anglesault Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 Damn The Rock for wanting to make more money. Damn him for wanting to helping his family. That is a stupid position. I'm sure the Johnson's are busy deciding what yacht to eat their dinner on. I don't think they are soup kitchen area yet. That being said, if Rock wants to make movies, fine. But this "come back for three months" is getting annoying.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 I don't fault the Rock for doing the Hollywood thing. If the opportunity is there for him to make more $$$ and become even more of a success, he'd be a fool to turn it down. The reality is that Rock's face persona has become tired, much like Steve Austin's face persona did. Rock's been saying the same things for what seems forever, and his promos just flat out haven't been funny/entertaining. I'd love for the WWE to turn Rock heel when he returns by playing up the Hollywood persona (i.e. "too good for the common WWE fans/wrestlers"). Austin's heel run, while being bad financially, was phenomenal from a character standpoint. I doubt Vince would want to turn Rock heel since he's the WWE's biggest money-maker & draw, but if done correctly, I feel it could work.
Guest NazMistry Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 They don't need a stupid Hollywood gimmick for The Rock. He just needs to be The Rock, not Rocky. Here's a scenario which will be shot down because it involves a long Rock title run, but I think it would work. Seeing as Rock is meant to be back early 2003, he can be used to boost Wrestlemania buyrates. Here we go. First the WWE need to dump Steph and get a proper face GM on SmackDown, possibly Foley. The World Champion going into to WM should have a strong tie with Bischoff, while the No.1 Contender, possibly RVD, should be from SmackDown. Basically, Bishoff should keep stacking the deck against the No.1 contender, until the SmackDown GM snaps and says to level the playing field theres going to be a special guest referee for the Title Main Event, The Rock. If Rock doesn't make an appearance until WM, he should get face heat when comes out at WM. and once in the main event, Rock should screw the face SmackDown Contender. This fill turn him Heel, and he can give the explanation that the fans forced him to do it. They decided they didn't want to cheer him anymore, so he wasn't going to do what they liked anymore. Then stick the title on Heel Rock and build to the next years Wrestlemania with the screwed SmackDown competitor chasing Rock all the way. Rock can job at Wrestlemania and put over his opponent big time.
