Why are Trips and other top guys able to hold people down? If I was running the show, I wouldn't take any crap from ANY of my employees, and would do what is right for business. Why do bookers allow themselves to be walked all over by the guys? I don't give a fuck how many years you have been loyal to the company, you don't call the shots, and you're not allowed to book yourself the way YOU want. -Jim

In Triple H's case it's cuz he's dating the bosses daughter who also happens to be the head booker. Not too hard to interject your influence. Otherwise, they generally don't, that's why Austin's gone now.

At the risk of starting a big argument, here is my take on it.

 

Wrestling is a work. Therefore, it is not always the best that rise to the top - thus if you are at the top of the organisation and you can get away with playing polictical games to keep your spot, then why not?

 

It is the people that let them get away with it (JR, Vince etc.) that you should vent your anger at.

The answer to this and most questions is:

 

Money.

 

Top guys have a bigger guaranteed contract...sure...

 

but wrestlers get paid their cut of shows based on their place on the roster.

 

Moving from the Main Event to the midcard would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars over the course of the year.

 

Now...this is reason #1-1,000,000 why Taker and HHH never make anyone look good, or put anyone over.

 

Same went for Austin when he was around and Hogan back in the day (the day meaning every day until his WWE return)

It's not like somebody high profile who bitches about doing a job has WCW to go to anymore. If they won't job, suspend them without pay for a while. Or make them be like Chris Jericho.
